  1. Much better starting line up than against Portsmouth. Let's go!
  2. (Chaddy changes the subject seamlessly) I don't know how good or bad the signings other Clubs have made are.You almost without exception. always deem players who are signed by other Clubs to be shit. All I know is that those other Clubs have identified their targets, got themselves organised and made their move early. For once, just once I wish we'd done the same. Have you EVER heard a manager say - "Yeah, well, I hope we don't sign anyone until right at the end of the window, when we can be involved in a mad scrum with a whole load of other Clubs to try and bring a few players in at the last minute by which time the selling Clubs will know full well we're desperate". No. They all say. "I'd like us to get our business sorted early and that will also help the rest of the team during that period as well" Just because it's often done the other way in practice doesn't make it right.
  3. *Cough* Adam Armstrong 9th of Jan 2018.
  4. So you think the owners ( who according to most are that disinterested they don't even know when we're playing) would be that interested or invested that they'd intervene in a potential transfer on the basis they thought he should have a one year deal instead of two?
  5. Weird, I thought it was a clear foul by Trafford. Ref was right on top of it, gave himself a couple of seconds to think about it, then pointed to the spot.
  6. Eh? Who was on the second one then? Trafford picked up a yellow card for his sins.
  7. We haven't signed anyone. (in the priority positions)
  8. 1st one definitely was, I thought the Sunderland player conned the ref, kicked his own foot. 2nd one was nailed on I thought. Trafford wiped the player out and didn't even get a touch on the ball.
  9. True legend of the game. Not surprisingly my favourite memory of him was the back heel for City that sent the Red Scum down in 1974. He scored the winner and looked absolutely distraught poor chap. Had to be consoled by his team mates. Ballon D'Or winner in the days when they didn't make a fuss about it. RIP.
  10. Supposedly they were willing to go up to £10m for Cannon but were outbid by Sheff Utd and Sunderland. Sunderland will be wondering how they didn't get 3 points out of that. Much the better side I thought and missed a couple of sitters and 2 penalties. They should have made someone else take the 2nd pen, he put it EXACTLY in the same place!
  11. Top and bottom of it. Great post as a whole.
  12. They're going to be sadly disappointed.
  13. Can't agree with that at all, in general the better players get snapped up earlier in the window and by the end you're left with the crap no-one else wants and/or whatever loanees the Premier League Clubs have condescended to make available, who may not play in the positions you want to fill.
  14. I would imagine that second part is a myth -Waggott allegedly was in the process of requesting funding for the January transfer window as at the end of November. They'll have autonomy within that extra budget such as it is, if a player falls within budget there's no reason why it would have to be run by them again.
  15. Initially it was but they are both offering to buy him outright now I think. Don't expect us to be competing at those sorts of financial levels but the point is they've identified their target and put steps in motion to try and get him. There's no real evidence we've done that with anyone.
  16. Oh give it a rest. "At our level" Sunderland and Sheffield United are looking for a striker - yeah, they've put matching £13m bids in for one! "Our level" indeed!
  17. Recruitment department really excelled themselves as usual this January, we've known about the priority positions for months and yet half way through the window there's absolutely no sign of anyone. What do they do all year?
  18. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/coventry-city-urged-to-cut-losses-on-thomas-asante-after-blackburn-bid/¹ Fair to say this Coventry Supporter isn't a fan of Assante.
  19. Seems very small beer in the general scheme of things when we have Sigurdsson and Mcfadzean not contributing anything whatsoever on the pitch.
  20. Just waiting for him to say he wants to keep the player and/or for Coventry to say our bid has been rejected. (That's if we've even made a bid) Everyone will respect his opinion on the subject then. Lol.
