  1. Hmmm......I have absolutely no axe to grind with you as you are an excellent poster but perhaps you shouldn't be so presumptuous as to tell other people what or what not to do with their time. After all these years of watching the Club I am quite capable of working out what gives me satisfaction. I'm sure you are too and from my point of view rounding the season off with 8 points from 27 to miss out on a play off place on goal difference does not float my boat irrespective of a spirited second half performance yesterday. I know there seems to be a growing number of supporters who seem to get their enjoyment from merely attending matches and enjoying the day out and to whom the result seems almost irrelevant win lose or draw. If you're in that boat good luck to you, I've never been one of those and I hope the overwhelming majority don't reach that point whereby tolerance of failure is almost universally accepted by which point imo you've let charlatans like Waggott (who I think you've previously rightly said you wouldn't employ to sweep the car park) win.
  2. If you're going to be pedantic I feel compelled to point out thats completely irrelevant as a draw was no use to us, we needed a win in any event regardless of other results. By the time we took the lead for the first time at 4-3 on 86 mins the game was long since up as Sunderland had gone 3 up some 19 minutes earlier
  3. "Celebrations?" What was there to celebrate exactly? OK, quick question, would the "euphoria" have been the same if hypothetically the same set of results had occurred but this time the victory was not enough to prevent us being relegated as opposed to not being enough to get us into the play offs? I'd have expected a very muted reaction from players and fans alike in that instance (think Dennis Law after relegating Man Ure in 1974) and I can't see that yesterday was any different. Celebrating wildly after securing an irrelevant win was on a par with going bananas after scoring a consolation goal in a 5-1 defeat to me. I'm sure you've heard the expression, "show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser". We've in general a team of losers out on the pitch and that losing mentality has transmitted itself to the fan base to the point where expectations appear to have been dumbed down so much that a fairly dismal failure is actually perceived as acceptable or even a glorious defeat.
  4. I'm not sure how you could possibly view yesterday's game in isolation irrespective of the other results. I was sat there glumly thinking it was all completely irrelevant bearing in mind that by the time we finally went ahead Sunderland were already home and hosed. In fact I was somewhat irritated that the players seemed to be celebrating yesterday's irrelevant result like we'd secured automatic promotion or something when they'd barely lifted a finger during the previous eight games when it actually mattered and would have made a difference had they put a shift like yesterday in.
  5. I'm definitely not optimistic, I'd class missing out on the play offs as an unmitigated disaster given where we were with ten games to go. Also going into next season without a single credible striker on the books. Eerily reminiscent of when Lambert walked out. However if Carlsberg did summers - Sack Waggott and Broughton - Appoint a competent and progressive CEO, bring in an actual experienced DOF if sticking with that model and if JDT is staying give him some workable backing. - 2 decent strikers - offload rubbish like Gallagher and Hedges -Keep Adam Wharton at all costs -No more shite loanees - Let's see more of Phillips -Let's sign some oven ready Championship performers and see where it takes us and stop talking about journeys or projects which may or may not work out in the dim and distant future. (Then the alarm went off)
  6. Quite surprised at the amount of stick he gets, for all he might have been coasting recently he's still been far and away our most likely goal threat. Would have liked to have seen him utilised down the middle personally rather than isolated hugging the left touchline. Don't think he owes us anything, was completely ignored for 18 mths by Mowbray and did well to resurrect his career. Don't think he owes us anything, wish him all the best abroad.
  7. With devil's advocate hat on, is he really? He's just finished behind Mowbray who was himself managing a newly promoted squad.
  8. Well, no it doesn't, funny how how we only came to life when we KNEW it was too late ie when Sunderland were 2 then 3 goals up.after showing absolutely nothing in the previous EIGHT games before that. Second season in a row as well. Absolutely Sickening. This set of players haven't got it and there must be massive question marks about the manager as well but he probably deserves another chance at it.
  9. Have to disagree. He's not good enough end of. You can't have a first eleven that's upto the job then a supporting cast that's simply isn't up to it.
  10. We spent far more than that last summer alone didn't we?
  11. Still not convinced you could cock up TWO incoming deals in two completely different ways accidentally whilst overseeing an outgoing deal perfectly.
  12. Not even sure it needs huge investment. The key is skilled recruitment of players who compliment each other. Wonder how much Luton have spent in transfer fees and wages the last 2 years compared with us?
  13. Devil's advocate mode on: They did last summer AND they were allegedly prepared to pay a King's ransom in wages to bring in O Brien until any incoming January business was sabotaged either by negligence or deliberately. All that said I'd be a lot more convinced by their intentions if they potted Waggott and Broughton and appointed a competent CEO and an actual experienced DOF should they decide to continue with that model.
  14. We already have a cheap £200k ish squad player in Hedges. Neither he nor Thomas are good enough imo unless we haven't seen anything like the best of Thomas due to him not being match fit.
  15. Whilst I hope JDT has far more integrity than Lambert and hasn't used us as merely a convenient stepping stone back into the job market, this season has eerie parallels to the one Lambert was here, tailing off miserably and likely to be on July 1st without a single credible striker on the books. If he does walk out the next appointment would have to be a lot more Warnock than Coyle otherwise as you say League 1 awaits and I'm not sure we bounce back so readily if it happened again.
  16. Keep saying this, because I need to, because certain people keep defending him, one of the worst players I've ever seen in a Rovers shirt, and that's over 52 years of watching us. The Jason Lowe of strikers. Absolutely useless, but managers seem to love him.
  17. No. Hardly anyone asked either. The appeal charade was an incredibly convenient distraction.
  18. Usually agree with nearly everything you post but I certainly wouldn't, I'd be more tempted to drop him, he's been all over the place and arguably our worst performer recently imo.
  19. Imo, if the manager is to have any chance whatsoever of success here, he has to lose his seeming obsession with Gallagher and ditch him forthwith. If we're to succeed he has to get everyone playing to their maximum, and get the team playing better than the sum of it's parts. You can't afford to carry any passengers, certainly not one as bad as that lummox.
  20. Nope, would go through like a dose of salts. Like Markanday's.
  21. Not bothered about Tuesday night particularly, but I'd say it's been one of the least enjoyable seasons I've seen. Might be a bit better than what was an offer under Mowbray but that's an exceptionally low bar. Good performances: (League) Blackpool/Huddersfield away Sunderland/Sheff Utd home?
  22. (Speaking on the assumption we're going to miss out on the play offs) If he walked to join another Club I think I'd be a bit disappointed rather than devastated but despite the fact Ive been far from impressed with what I've witnessed this season he has probably just about done enough to deserve another crack at it next season. We need a competent CEO and, if we're going to persevere with the DOF model, an actual experienced DOF rather than an overpromoted Academy Head far more urgently than we need to change the manager.
