Well, we've not appointed anyone in employment since Appleton so the odds favour us appointing someone unemployed to avoid having to pay compensation. Appleton isnt the best example to use in favour of appointing anyone in employment admittedly.
-
I think the question is not "Wiil they be interviewed?" it's "Why would we even bother" Chaddy.
-
So 1) Foreign 2) Crap. (And cheap) 3) Unemployed ?
-
Might be the one occasion when our aversion to spending money turns out to be a blessing in disguise.
-
However they "used to" go beyond it upon request - for Armstrong/Gallagher/BBD etc etc. What we really need is for them to do "a Jack" and say "Here Jurgen, what are you doing pissing about in an office at Red Bull? Get your arse over here and get back to what you really love doing". Instead they now appear to be complely indifferent to us (at best) and we're far more likely to end up with George Boateng.

A play off chasing Club having its manager walking out at this stage of the season must be fairly unprecedented. Having said manager walk out to join a Club in 21st even more so and as such it's brought the welcome glare of the National spotlight onto the owners tenure for the first time in many years. I think that spotlight needs to stay fixed firmly in position and the appointment of Gerrard would certainly achieve that for as long as he was here whether he was a resounding success or a massive disaster. For that reason alone I cant see Waghail opting for Gerrard, let alone the fact that the likely cost would have Waggott choking on his cornflakes. The more I think about it, the more I'm warming to the idea though, especially given some of the other names mentioned in the betting. We just need someone to come in and not change too much but have the players motivated enough to run through a brick wall until the end of the season.

Dont know. I didnt listen to the show this morning, sorry. Sadly in a way the two wins have probably taken the heat off the owners somewhat.
-
It will only be relatively nominal won't it? 300k sort of level?
-
If they cant attend when King Kenny is here, they're never likely to are they?
-
Probably been said already but what a horrific list that is. We have a more or less unique opportunity (on a short term basis at least) and that's the best we can do? If theyre the best 12 names, god help the other 138 alleged applicants. Out of those 12 I'd only be reasonably happy with Duff or Gerrard ( neither of whom seem likely to me) or ok with O'Neil and Carsley. The other 8 I'd be gutted with.
-
At the moment the players are doing the business on the understanding there'll be a new man coming in. It would be a massive mistake to remove that carrot/stick imo, we've seen countless examples over the years of teams showing an upturn in form under a caretaker manager then as soon as the appointment is made permanent everything goes rapidly South.
-
Both ex Boro unsurprisingly. What was that agency based up there that was an offshoot of Kentaro called? Was it HSH?
-
Ill be gutted if Wellens gets it. Wellens and Gerrard joint favourites at 4/1 on Talksport. O Neil next best then Carsley who I dont think is a realistic candidate.

Eustace…he gone…*official*

He's taken one step back to (in his mind) take two steps forward there's no doubt about that. The worry from our point of view is why he felt compelled to do that and whether we know how bad things REALLY are behind the scenes yet. -

That argument works both ways though. Id maintain that minus Szmodics and Travis it was and still is a pretty poor squad which highlights how well he did to still have us in contention by this stage. Which is good for us going forward regardless of what you make of his decision to leave when he did. -
We seem to be moving inexorably towards that model dont we.

Maybe he did actually prefer a Midlands Club? Quite sure he'd have ended up at West Brom had they been willing to pay the compo. Did they ever end up with the **** end of the stick for the sake of a few hundred grand. -

They started the night outside the bottom 3 on goal difference. This result has put them in it, on it. -

Naughty boy! -
Ok if it was Nixon, him being critical of Henry Winter as well - ROFL. Bet Henry's losing a lot of sleep about that.

They just have. Unless it was the Derby fans! -
Sorry are we talking about Nixon here? If so he's gone into full PR mode for the Club since the Eustace situation arose. Possibly since the end of the window with his comments on what a steal 20k p.w. was for the Dennis deal (who has barely featured for us yet). Most odd.
