  1. We wouldn't think twice about offering another loanee like Poveda £10k p.w. I wouldn't imagine. I'd far rather it went on one of our own securing a fee for him in future as opposed towatching all that money go to waste when the player walks out at the end of the season.
  2. Not sure you can say Waggott has done all he can etc without knowing what we're offering. Seems likely Phillips is a generational talent who in today's market could be a £50m or £60m asset to Spurs in years to come. I wouldn't mind wagering we've offered Phillips the same terms as any other Academy graduate when in reality we need to be showing the sort of flexibility we didn't show RN DL JR etc. If the other youngsters who aren't as good or sought after don't like it, tough.
  3. Any add on clauses would have to be triggered EITHER by a sale or a large number of first team appearances to prevent that happening.
  4. Didn't Fulham get in excess of £4.2m for Elliott via tribunal? If that's the case then we should be looking at a couple of million easily for Phillips minimum unless the tribunal is biased in favour of the "big" club.
  5. In my opinion when the shit hits the fan he just tells people what they want to hear to ward off criticism. Lenihan about to sign a new deal, Phillips situation under control, new £2m state of the art pitch for next season etc.
  6. That question was actually directed to another poster but sorry for previously upsetting your delicate sensibilities.
  7. OK thanks. So if the worst came to the worst, complete bollux we can only get nominal compensation then?
  8. I'm guessing the above is pure speculation on your part, but are you saying then that he is entitled to walk out tomorrow? Or, does he have to wait until the end of his scholarship? Very awkward situation for all concerned if that's the case.
  9. Why is he still here then if he's not under any form of contract? He could have just walked out on his 17th birthday if that were the case.
  10. Wish people would stop citing Forest as if that's likely to happen to us should we be in the bottom three by the end of September. That sort of thing happens once in a generation AND they had to change managers to get there.
  11. Im not an expert on it either but I thought there was meant to be a benefit to having a Cat 1 Academy in that PL Clubs can't just cherry pick your best youngsters for the compensation calculation but I'm guessing that doesn't apply when (yet again) we've allowed the player to get out of contract. So in recent times that's Armstrong (reduced fee) Nyambe, Lenihan, Rothwell, and now potentially Phillips. Impressive going if it comes to that.
  12. How can he do that, he has one year left on his contract here doesn't he?
  13. I haven't looked so genuine question - How many other Championship Clubs have brought either none or one in?
  14. Yeah, Lenihan/Rothwell and even Nyambe are 100% on Mowbray and Waggott imo but the point I'd make is was that we've known for a year or more there was a strong possibility any or all of the three could be leaving and we've also known for quite some time that this was a fairly unique season with it being a winter world Cup therefore a larger proportion of the season is done and dusted this time round before the window closes and its even more advantageous to do your business early. None of this has been sprung on us by surprise at the last minute. Perhaps I'm being unfair -Waggott is only on £300 k p.a. you can't expect him to take things like that into consideration. 🙄 If we hadn't lost RN/DL/JR in the summer I wouldn't necessarily be expecting us to have added 3 or 4 additional permanent bodies at this stage either. I did however expect us as a bare minimum to replace those 3 with equivalent quality before the season started to.put us on an even keel with last season.
  15. Hope you're right chaddy. To me you can't say that with any real confidence as if we were DEFINITELY bringing in said quality signings we would already have done so by now. Why wouldn't you?
  16. All that is well and good, but we've known there is a strong possibility that Nyambe, Lenihan and Rothwell would leave for 12 months or more now. We knew it then, we knew it when GB arrived and we still knew it when JDT arrived, and we knew the season started a bit earlier, so to be going into the season having only replaced one of them simply isn't acceptable. Edit: Then you have to chuck in the mix that JPVH turned into a key component of the side last year as well. I really don't understand this thought process that it's OK to do our business by the end of the window. If the EFL decreed that we wouldn't play our first seven fixtures and instead would be awarded two or three points instead, then everyone would rightly be up in arms. Yet we're potentially doing it to ourselves and most seem comfortable taking that risk.
  17. Final point, did anyone ask Waggott to clarify whether he meant permanent signings when he said we need 4 or 5 in.
  18. Premier League football and a much better quality of product at that time though tbf.
  19. Like everyone else I am aghast (but based on his track record to date not surprised) at Waggott's comments. Ignoring concessions you really do get the impression that if he could get away with it he would rather charge 2k fans £1600 per annum than 8k fans £400. Whereas every other CEO in the Country would surely rather fill their stadium with 16k fans at £200 per head rather than 8k at £400. Also I'm assuming the decision to snub alcohol and gambling advertising comes from the owners on religious grounds as I really don't see why these are seemingly indefensible whereas a vaping Company is OK. As a non smoker I find the latter by far the most objectionable of the 3.
  20. Why? Any new signings might not come off. However my main concern would be that despite the arrival of JDT and Broughton we still don't seem to be able to attract players. I can only assume this is primarily because of the wage structure we're trying to implement. That won't necessarily change because we have a few extra million burning a hole in our back sack unless they allow a good deal more flexibility for the right player.
  21. Possible, but I really hope not. That would potentially turn a desperately poor transfer window into an absolutely catastrophic one.
  22. Hoping you're right with the last paragraph. I have to give you full marks for Chaddy style optimism as regards the rest of the post. Brittain might give us a bit more going forward than Nyambe but I would suggest won't be as good defensively. How on earth have we replaced Rothwell with "better" I.e. Buckley when they both played in the same team together for most of last season? Also disagree we're better off without players if they haven't been replaced at all, no matter how ordinary they are. Not particularly worse off maybe, but certainly not better off either. The one "addition" I would concede is Markanday - if JDT sees him as an automatic starter that is.
  23. Seems fairly pointless then if as most people have said expenditure on infrastructure is FFP exempt anyway. So you could theoretically inject money in to buy players for large fees but you wouldn't be able to pay them?
  24. Im as certain as I can be there was money available in January irrespective of any Rothwell sale and he knows it. Why he made and is still making claims to the contrary is anyone's guess.
