Organisations like the Trust and Fans Forum absolutely have to step up now and not let Waggott get away with any more crap whatsoever along the "This doesn't affect our day to day operations" line. Obviously it does. Over the last 12 months we've been selling anything of any value, scuppering high value incoming deals and not reinvesting in the team whereas before these particular financial difficulties the owners were (commendably imo) quite happy to risk the likes of Rothwell and Brereton walk for nothing in the hope that by keeping them they'd fire us to promotion.
-
Over the years they do seem to have had intermittent periods where they have splurged loads of cash and others when the taps appear to have been turned off. This feels slightly different now though, like a concerted effort to sell anything of any value and until the next player "does a Szmodics" and improves out of all recognition they appear to have more or less completed the task. To be fair, I did say "If" not "They will".

At this point after 2 postponements if the owners were serious about doing the right thing by the Club they'd settle the case out of Court and pay some sort of financial penalty. If they believe they're in the right and are intent on fighting the case on principle however this could drag on more or less indefinitely. We're obviously right at the bottom of the Court's list of priorities.

Travis was great against Derby and to coin a well worn cliche is " one of our own". If he is one of our higher earners then the similarities between him and Gallagher end there. Must be in a minority of one but I still can't see what all the fuss about Tronstad is about. Very over-rated imo. In addition JRC has also started the season in dreadful fashion so a sale of Travis now would be an absolute disaster necessitating the addition of two decent central midfielders before the window closes. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. I wouldn't have thought with hindsight that it was in dispute that loaning Travis out last season to save a few quid was a massive mistake that we only just got away with, yet here we are allegedly looking to compound the error!

I didn't see the game today but I really don't like Brittain. I think his attitude is shocking and he doesn't seem to think things like getting tight to his man and preventing them from crossing are part of his defensive remit. In an ideal world I'd change both full backs in a heartbeat. Neither are anywhere near good enough. -
That presupposes a final determination of the case in its entirety which may not occur on Tuesday. What I meant was, if the status Quo is maintained and the decision is they can continue to send funds over if an equivalent supporting bond is paid as opposed to not being allowed to send money over at all.

He can park Waggott's luxury Coach across our goal if we come away with the 3 points. -
Billy Koumetio. Signed permanently for Dundee apparently which just about shows his level. I didn't think Tyler Morton was much better either. I think we need a good permanent replacement for Szmodics and a solid keeper as a permanent signing as the bare minimum. I'd also LIKE a new full back on either side, at least one pacey winger and a creative midfielder but I expect to be broadly disappointed. Take your point on the loans but our record over the years has been extremely hit and miss in that respect. For every Elliott or JPVH there's probably been three or four George Hirst's Zeefuick's, Barry Douglas's, Poveda's, etc etc

I would have fancied us to win this had we still had SS, as it is I fear his sale will have killed all momentum and have had a demoralising effect. Lot of pressure on the new lads now, big difference between going out knowing you have SS in reserve if need be, and not having another option. 2-0 or 3-1 Norwich. However, I'm usually wrong at predicting the results of football matches, so here's hoping. -
If the three new forwards do particularly well then we should be OK in terms of not going down but if not, and if the rest of the squad is basically no better than before, then we are in trouble. That squad with Szmodics' 27 goals and Adam Wharton for a large part of the campaign only stayed up on the last day of the season. Take away Szmodics' contribution and we would have been toast. A lot depends on whether the three new lads can keep it up and on the quality of the recruitment between now and the end of the window.

Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?

Agreed. He's done more for the Club than probably 90% of the players I've seen in my time. Wish he was still a Rover - seems the new MO is the minute a player does well for us he's sold - but also wish him all the best in the future. -
Strange outlook. Personally I have a lot more affection for players who perform well for us and earn a move elsewhere than players that are here years drawing a wage and do the square root of fuck all. Lowe, Evans, Bennett, Gallagher etc etc with Hedges being the latest culprit Imo. But......each to their own I guess.

SS was never going to fetch a humongous fee due to his age and lack of PL experience. I'd say the the fee for him is still a bit on the low side though, due to our current circumstances. Imo £12m plus add ons would have been about right. The fee received for Wharton though remains and always will be an absolute disgrace. Anyone who saw him play could easily predict he was an absolutely unique talent who would go on to great things, the only surprise there is possibly how quickly it's happened.

So the season gets off to an unexpectedly promising start - then all momentum is derailed by the sale of our latest star asset at a very modest price. Plus ca change.......... Another striker needed now in addition to the other gaps in the squad imo For me also neither full back are good enough, we obviously need a solid keeper and extra creativity from midfield would be nice. Not really holding my breath although tbf we seem to have done fairly well with the 3 forwards who have come in so far so hopefully we won't be seeing any more dross like Wahlstedt Ennis or Telalovic.

I don't think he should be sold at this stage, at all. However if he does go or has to go for financial reasons, I want him to go to the Club that's going to pay us the most money. What does it really matter if he goes to another Championship Club? We'll only play them twice a season and it's common to put a clause in saying the player can't play in those games anyway. I've passed the opinion all along that Ipswich don't really want Szmodics that badly and recent reports that they're quibbling over £500k do nothing to dispel that notion. In normal circumstances I wouldn't sell him to Ipswich on principle now after all the messing about.
