Don't disagree with anything you say. I'm not expecting anything of value from tonight, I personally think this is such a crucial matter that a separate meeting should be demanded at which the gloves should be off and everything should be gone into forensically in minute detail. I mean if the Club is going under, who cares if the new kits are all really nice or there's a new flavour of pie on offer this season or waiting time for refreshments is likely to be less?
-
Not that it would ever happen but I'm not sure how it being reported that the FF walked out because they weren't satisfied with the answers they were getting from the Club would reflect well on Waggott or "play into his hands". I'm anticipating that the extent of the "inquisition" tonight will be a comment from Waggott that the Club are hoping the Court will follow the precedent set when they allowed a transfer of funds previously at which point everyone will nod and murmur appreciatively in agreement before moving on to the next agenda item. Hoping to be proved wrong.

Exactly And as I said after one of the previous meetings when from the minutes it appeared as though there was barely a satisfactory answer given, who cares if he threatens to stop them? If all you're getting are lies or "We'll look into it" then at that juncture the meetings have become completely pointless anyway.

Great post. Couldn't agree more. I'm reminded of the words of the guy who played the Editor of the New York Times Ben Bradlee to Woodward and Bernstein in the Closing Scene of "All the President's Men". "Nothing's riding on this. Except the first amendment of the Constitution and the freedom of the Press and maybe the future of the Country. Not that any of that matters, but if you **** up again I'm going to get mad" Substitute the words "The future of Blackburn Rovers Football Club which has been in existence since 1875" and you just about have it. "I'll look into it" never cuts it even on a relatively trivial matter but especially not so on a matter as crucial as this. If satisfactory answers are not forthcoming tonight as I doubt they will be then the Forum need to demand a separate meeting to discuss the subject in detail.

I bet some of the players are wishing they were in the army now. -
I haven't met chaddy but I am fairly sure he is absolutely genuine in his love and support for the Club and believes what he posts at the time and absolutely does not post stuff with the intention of deliberately antagonising others. That said when he posts things that fly in the face of all available evidence it's not surprising some other posters get irritated.

That will probably depend on the outcome of the Court Hearing. If it goes against the Club he'll probably be shoved out of the door quicker than Wharton was. Maybe the Club's thinking is we'll try and hang onto him if the Court ruling goes in their favour? Let's face it, if he goes and isn't replaced with a couple of decent players we could be looking at near record low points levels and there's no way that can be dressed up as anything other than catastrophic.

John Eustace - our head coach

I doubt he'd just want to walk away from a job compensation free though, he probably isn't in anywhere near as favourable a financial position as JDT. If he was prepared to take the potential hit then that would speak volumes about how bad things really are behind the scenes. -

Not implausible at all but where have those comments come from? -

He's in a tricky situation now, there obviously won't be anything available until we're a bit further into the season by which time we may be rooted to the bottom of the table which will ostensibly make him less attractive to potential suitors. Edit: If he were to walk pre season - what a message that would be. Not even Waggott or his PR arm the LT could put a gloss on losing two managers inside a few months. -
Difficult to be optimistic about the August the 20th hearing. There is only one scenario that leads to the sort of immediate surgery the squad currently requires. The complete dismissal of the case against the owners which then allows them to send funding over without having to pay an equivalent supporting bond. That seems fairly unlikely. Furthermore that also still requires them being willing to fund the Club to the same levels as previously or to even greater heights as there's now apparently a 20% levy on monies sent abroad from India. The most likely scenario for me ( if the case goes ahead) is that they are once again allowed to transfer monies over for running costs only (but not transfers) and we wither away slowly with no net investment in the team but without the pressing need to sell SS at the hint of the first enquiry as we did with AW. The doomsday scenario is another adjournment or that the case goes against the owners which as after the last adjournment would probably see our star asset,in this case SS, offloaded within a week, guaranteed relegation and a great deal of short term pain. Owners either forced to sell or fairly imminent administration. However if we're looking longer term over the next 5-10 years maybe it's the only viable option?

Me too.....lest we forget he tried unsuccessfully to flog off half of Brockhall as well. Things could have been ever so slightly worse, we could have been sat here still wondering when work on the brand new state of the art training complex promised by Waggott and Cheston was due to start. How ludicrous does that proposition sound now?

Presumably though, if there was any intention at all to fund the team we'd have made some signings by now. You'd have hoped for example that even if the Wharton money was needed at the time to keep the lights on then the Raya add on would have been a nice little bonus which was available. It can't be a deliberate policy to wait until right to the end of the window until everyone else has gone.
-
I doubt it's anyone of any significance. Probably an Internet wannabee pretending to be an "insider". The fact he knew what colour the kits would be I'd neither here nor there. If he was posting earlier in the summer that there was "genuinely money to spend" then he couldn't possibly have been further wide of the mark than that.
-
All that said, and this will no doubt upset you and many others, IF the situation changed tomorrow and they were once again willing or able to fund us up to the limit allowed by the regulations I'd take that. To be competitive we require funding as We've seen from this non transfer window. The whole thing feels extremely brazen now to me there's not even a hint of contrition from the Club that there haven't been any signings so far despite selling Wharton and receiving the Raya sell on fee, Neither are there are any assurances or positive messages whatsoever coming from management or owners along the lines of "never fear, signings are coming". We seem to have even given up on any pretence that we're going to be competitive this season. The only person who seems to be bothered about new signings is Eustace who has probably correctly deduced that it's his arse and reputation thats going to be on the line when things go South. In normal circumstances I'd say Waggott would be probably crapping himself that his cushy little number was coming to an end but like Mowbray before him he's probably just about managed to limp through to the point where he's happy with his financial lot and is happy enough to leave anyway.
