  1. I've been saying this for a while; AW would be more effective playing higher up the pitch. Let him use his vision, passing and technique where he can hurt teams more. Leave the deeper stuff to players like Tronstad.
  2. Hill has been really impressive since he's been in the team. And with Tronstad, Wahlstedt and Sigurdsson also doing the job in recent games, you have to give some credit to the business done over the summer, in fairness.
  3. To be fair, when Benni went to West Ham, he did actually get fat (for a professional sportsman). Ennis just has that body shape naturally, I don't think he's carrying too much body fat.
  4. Consecutive wins, consecutive clean sheets. Not the most eye-pleasing game, but who cares? We've played enough games this season where we've been dynamic and come away with nothing. And my lad's U9's team got to do the flag waving at the start and HT penalties today, bonus 🙂
  5. Hopefully we can build on the QPR result and start to build a bit of momentum. Sigurdsson and Szmodics is plenty of goal threat alone. As long as we keep it solid at the other end, hard to look past a home win.
  6. Leonard has some natural goalscoring instincts - the type that are very difficult to teach.
  7. Irony being, he was pretty decent in the few games he did play.
  8. Bellingham is very, very good. I like the bit of devil in him also, gives him a bit of personality. He and Foden are the two best midfielders we've had in a long time.
  9. One thing is for sure: the club has to communicate with the fans at some level on this. They can't allow rumour and innuendo to rule the roost. And a lack of communication only adds fuel to the fire that something isn't right. Over to you, Waggott and co...
  10. I said in another thread the other day, but no Rovers supporter enjoys seeing one of our own players struggle. Dolan has been well off form this season until the last couple - and those performances were rightly criticised. But the last couple have been encouraging, QPR in particular. Lets hope he can build on that.
  11. Shows the importance of not jumping to early conclusions on new players. Give them time to settle in and show what they can do. Just as we're starting to see for most of this summer's signings.
  12. We have to follow up the QPR away win with another 3 points. Wouldn't change the defence, looks like Hill can make RB his own. Possibly Brittain in at LB. If we have no fit striker again, I'd push Szmodics into the false 9 again and play Wharton a bit further up the pitch. JRC and Tronstad playing deeper.
  13. Yeah, that was a particularly tough one to take - we played them off the park, but missed chance after chance. The Hedges one was an incredible miss. Score first and we win comfortably. You like to think these things even themselves out over the course of the season.
  14. The Sunderland game in particular was one where we go on to win, if we convert one of those many early chances. As it was, we went behind twice and they picked us off as we chased the game. I think we'd be comfortably top 6 right now if we had a striker who could have converted a number of those early chances in games.
  15. Thankfully it's only Nixon. If it was from a more reputable source, I might worry slightly.
  16. We're only 5 points from the top 6 - the table is pretty much irrelevant at this stage of the season (unless you're Leicester or Sheffield). Let's concentrate on building on yesterday's result, getting a few bodies back from the treatment room and see where it takes us. You can't convince me that we won't be within touching distance of the top 6 come May.
  17. Yes. I genuinely saw posts on here writing him off as a 'crock', literally before he'd even kicked a ball for us. Makes you question the mindset.
  18. The season where he'd scored 20 goals by Xmas, he was excellent (well, first half of the season anyway). It would have been crazy to sell him under Venky's asking price at that point. Nobody knew that he would revert back to Brereton for the majority of his time after that point. If we'd sold him at that time, it would have completely derailed our potential promotion push.
  19. Sigurdsson wasn't poor yesterday. Even if he's contributing 2 goals and literally nothing else, he's had a good game.
  20. You would like to think that every waking hour of Broughton's life is focussed on bringing in a decent striker for us in Jan...
  21. We lined up with traditional full backs today for the first time in a long time (as opposed to inverted fullbacks). And it worked a treat. Thought Pickering was solid and Hill was one of today's better performers - looks a real talent.
  22. Yeah, that was my exact thoughts just after his 2nd goal today - hopefully it's not a fleeting spell with us. Pleased for Leo to keep a clean sheet and I thought both Hill and Trondstad were both excellent today.
  23. Hard to argue that our summer business wasn't positive based on today's performance - and the players who contributed most.
  24. Regarding the midfield, hopefully today has proven the importance of having a proper deep/holding midfielder. Wharton is exceptionally gifted, but needs to be playing further up the field.
  25. Strange post. We've been dropping points despite playing (on the whole) some very nice football this season. We've finally turned someone over, as we've been threatening to do. There's as much reason for optimism as there is pessimism at this moment in time, whilst the team is settling and gelling.
