I’m having a bit of fun at shawbridge watching Clitheroe. Every time I see a Burnley crest I say I’ve no skin in the game but you men got lucky didn’t you. I’d be very skeptical over putting him on massive wages. I appreciate literally everyone rovers sign these days will have a huge question mark over them. He spectacularly failed spectacularly with a once in a generation group of English players. Not to get the likes of G Nev, Rio, Terry, Sol, Ashley Cole, Beckham, Gerrard, Scholes, fat frank, Owen, Rooney past a quarter final was a pathetic effort. Almost unforgivable. He did well in Italy bu his biggest legacy in this country is that of failure. Seemed like a decent chap though (not being a man of his word and rampant affairs aside).

Decent test in the end. They made a game of it which looked highly unlikely. A very poorly attended match though but it’s such a dreadful venue in a lot of ways. At £75 on day 3 in a scaffold stand then £90 under the hotel I don’t think the pricing was anywhere near what it should have been for a match vs Ceylon. Plus that horrible grey soviet style hotel was about 2/3rds empty and the red shed hotel about half empty. So presumably priced those all wrong as well. Christ knows what they have up their sleeves when pricing up India and when next get an ashes match.

Off to the cricket today and in Clitheroe station the conductor said there’s a tree down at Blackburn.
