  2. I really should get around to playing this, a friend picked it up from the US for me ages ago, I played it for 10 mins, loved it, but becuase I was still too involved with GTA:SA I ignored it. A few months ago Ste B and another mate came round and put it on, this time we were all blown away, but only played it for 20 mins or so (hey, it was a poker night, if poker is the nuts, the PS2 is just suited connectors ) .... and still it sits unplayed. Now, I just don't seem to have time to start it .
  3. My head tells me somebody else should answer this, but as it's all gone quiet I guess I'll have to (pepare yourself for some unintential foot-in-mouth gaff from me, they seem to be somewhat common at the moment). The following is my opinion and hasn't been discussed why anyone else involved with the ISA <end disclaimer>. Lee, you must apreciate you are in a somewhat unique position. Firstly as a Rovers fan that actually likes to get of their arse and DO something about problems rather than just moaning about them, you were obviously one of the first people whos name came up when this was nothing more than an idea. However the one of the initial aims of the ISA was to be independant of the club, who happen to also be your employers, which created a slight problem, as certainly during the initially planning stage, we felt revealing too much to the club might not be a great move. That said, one of the aims of the ISA is to be open an honest, and the next meeting is geared toward talking to heads of existing "supporters groups" (of which the official website is undoubtedly one), so I can no only see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed, but in fact I'd argue you perhaps should have been formally invited.
  4. Vista won't install in Virtual PC with only 300MB allocated to it (my box at work only has 512Mb) and I keep forgetting to bring it home. So I am still Vista less. IE7 looks much of a muchness, thankfully all my work site render perfectly in it, so I don't have to spend any more time with it.
  5. That used to be Preston, (actually, I think it was classed as "most average") with exactly the same results.
  6. C'mon, I only get out of driving once or twice a season, certainly never two consecutive games.
  7. So, who's off to Grimsby tonight and where are you drinking ? The Leaking Boot is normally the away pub of choice, but it's quite a trek from the ground (about 3/4 of a mile in the wrong direction), so does anyone have any better suggestions ?
  8. The bald one has been wrong before, I'm just passing on what he txt'ed
  9. erm, XP (in fact 2k) used the hardware to render where possible, I can't see how vista can improve this Unless I'm mistaken, the SQL based FS has been pulled, making the search no better than Google desktop. symlinks have been availble since the 70s in various *nixs, however 2k did support them, it's just nobody made use of them. GIANT anti-spyware (as bought by ms) is VERY good, shame it lacks any network control, still, you could argue that spyware only exists because of a security-oblivious OS Much respect fro quoting boingboing (which rocks), hardly the most technical hack (which makes it even funnier). each to their own, each OS to it's task. I use XP, but I'd recommend Mac OS to my folks. I run Linux on my file server and firewall and Free BSD on my hobby box. Each has its own specialtys Glenn, Beer++
  10. Left York races last weekend and spotted a drunk stereotypical "lad" leaning into the open car door of two scared looking asain youths, as we passed he said "don't worry, I was just 'avin' a word 'bout the bom'in's ) and walked off. 6 of one and all that. There will be no riots any time soon, nobody riots in bad weather ! (and you think I'm joking, look at the stats).
  11. Notes from JPW @ Swansea. Should be 3 0 down, they look sharp up front, Friedal made 3 good vaes. Starting ti get on top though, not at full steam but Swans r up 4 it. 1 - 0 to us MGP, header back post, Gally cross. 2 - 0 Reidy header at back post. Looking sharper, 3 - 0 Mickey Gray, bit of a scramle after 3 deflected shots. 3 - 1 No Idea, wasn't watching ( ). JHansen just hit post and Mickey G missed a sitter 4 - 1 Derbyshire from Super Gresko cross, header back post.
  12. Actually, at 17hrs to download, I think it may be Monday (I've got IE7 Beta downloading too, but even with Tabbed browsing I don't know if it's going to offer me enough to make me switch back from Firefox).
  13. I didn't realise the it had hit MSDN yet (I normally just wait for the CDs to arrive). I'll let you know how it looks by the end of the day (when the bit fat behemoth of a download has finished).
  14. Give it a go Dan, in the past the club have been VERY flexible regarding the deadline (although you may have to pay 2 months at once to "catch up" as it were).
  15. Even Morecambe charged £8 to stand up ! Granted it all comes down to players wages, if we payed them less, Rovers wouldn't have to charge as much, but I don't see why a pre-season should be run as a loss-leader (i.e. lose money just to get punters in) when it's hardly going to be an exciting game that will turn the "I've only come 'cos it's cheap" crowd into regulars. In fact, I can't see the benefit of the game at all. And yes, they COULD have reduced it further for ST holders, but the extra COSTS for the event have to be made up somewhere, next years ST prices perhaps ? It's not like it costs Rovers nowt to do such a gesture and it's not like were so flush with cash that the money isn't important. (I wish it was term time so Vinjay could now respond that the lack of cash for such gestures is down to the Walker family ).
  16. I've just posted about this in the pre-seasons thread. WHY is £15 too much ? It is hardly likely to cost Rovers any less to host than a Prem game so why should fans expect to get cheap tickets for it ? (Replies to the other thread, it's more suitable than this thread).
  17. Why ? Which of the club's outgoings (players wages, staff wages, heating, lighting, concourse stock etc) are reduced because it's a friendly ? I've been wondering about the whole point of doing a "international" pre-season home friendly, it's obvious that the majority of the fans don't care enough to turn up (or don't think they are value for money, perhaps "care" is unfair), so the club enevitably has to drop the price to get some punters in, massively reducing the income (which being a pre-season isn't going to have TV revenue or away fans to prop it up). I'd imagine that the club must be losing money hosting these games, a cost which has to be made up elsewhere (be it a rise in match prices, or insufficient funds to get McCarthy). Surely we'd be better off not doing them ? Whilst I expect to be at both, Grimsby is more important to me than Espanyol, regardless of the ticket prices. PS. Don't get me wrong, if people are on a limited budget, £15 for a friendly or £17 for a home game, it's a no brainer which you'd go for. But if people don't feel £15 is value, should the club persist in organising them ?
  18. Just been texted "Hughes told to take dickov off". I'm guessing he's being close to being sent off, either that or the crowd are bored and think Hughes doing impersonations of the small bloke will entertain them
  19. I never thought I'd be the sort to be wandering around B&Q whilst my mates text me Rovers scores, but tonight it happend. I thought it was 7pm KO too. Still, the team Freidal Todd Nelson Matteo Neill MGP Reid Tugay Emerton Dickov & Kuqi Reid scores soon after kick off from a direct free kick and then a Nelson header on 27. Aparently the stadium is a field in the middle of nowhere. Bellamy is not playing, but I don't wether that just means he doesn't start or he not on the bench at all.
  20. It depends, the bloke up the pole is "The Man With The Golden Drum" (although, to be fair, Martin* seems to have listened to fellow Rovers fans and all last season didn't got his drum out once .... leaving only one more drummer to crack ), so the answer is possibly "Martin". The other one I have no idea about. * That's Martin the drummer, not Martin the poster on this site, who as far as I know, have never banged a drum at Rovers
  21. It looks like Hughes in considering using academy defender Andy Taylor next season as Sparky gave him his second pre-season first team start when Rovers lined up against 1860 Munich yesterday . Rovers didn't look too convincing at first against a strong 1860 team who went into the game unbeaten in their six pre season games so far. The 0 - 0 half time scoreline was mainly attributed to some excellent keeping from Brad Friedal. Rovers came out a lot more positive in the second half, but couldn't keep out a 25 yard shot from Vucicevic on 56 minutes. Things then took a turn for the worse on 70 mins when Matt Derbyshire tackled Brazilian Rodrigo Costa from behind, earning himself a red card. The Brazilian himself was shown red for showing his displeasure at the challenge by puching Derbyshire. 88 minutes saw Paul Gallagher draw level (some German news sources are reporting the goal a Flitcroft's, but Rovers fans at the game have confirmed it was Gallagher). The end of the game saw both Rovers fans and players complaining about some harsh refereeing, although the only other card Rovers recieved was a yellow for Lucas Neill. Hughes was reported as saying it was a fair result and a good challenging game. The teams. 1860:Hofmann (46. Ochs) - Lamotte (46. Cerny), Szukala (60. Komljenovic), Lanzaat (46. Costa), Hoffmann (46. Schäfer) - Vucicevic (60. Reisinger), Baier (82. Shao), Lehmann (60. Meyer), Milchraum (46. Gebhardt) - Krontiris (68. Adler), Agostino (46. Kolomaznik). Blackburn: Friedel (46. Enckelman) - Neill (75. Douglas), Taylor (43. McEveley), Todd, Nelsen, Mokoena (68. Derbyshire), Emerton (46. Tugay), Reid, Kuqi (68. Flitcroft), Pedersen (46. Gallagher), Bellamy (75. Harkins) Reports are slowly coming back from Rovers fans at the game here
  22. Jordan and JPW were both sending me regular updates from the game yesterday, however I was at York Races and nowhere near a PC and the two people I was forwarding them onto were also not near a PC. So here is a quick run down. Currently 0 -0. Squad Fridel, A Taylor, Nelson, Todd, MGP, Reid, Mokowena, Emerton, Bellamy and Kuqi. We're not playing too well, Two good save from Brad. 1 - 0 to them Derbyshire sent off for fighting 1 - 1 Gally Direct Quote from Reid "I'm going to #### the referee" 1 - 1 Full Time. .... oh and it seems like the new additions to the squad since the last pre-season have now signed the site flag.
  23. One of the support guys at work, a life long Windows fan, bought a Mac mini at Christmas and we were all very impressed. Don't think I'd like one for myself, but next time my parents manage to kill their PC I'm certainly going to recommend one, because if you want a simple, easy to use, standard home PC for web browsing, listening to music and balancing your chequebook I don't think it can be beaten.
  24. Our's show a very different picture, without a lot of faffing I can only get the top 15 browsers (which includes OS info), and there are so few Mac users they don't register. 1 20.17% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET 2 13.80% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) 3 7.59% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1 4 6.73% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) 5 3.52% Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gec 6 3.04% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) 7 3.02% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1 8 1.81% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98) 9 1.65% Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.8) Gec 10 1.33% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; BT Openwor 11 1.32% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Opera 7.54 12 1.09% Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.5) Gec 13 0.99% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 4.0) 14 0.81% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; YPC 3 15 0.79% Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; FunWebProd MSIE= Internet Exporer NT 5.1 = XP NT 5.0 = 2000 Gec = Firefox or Nutscrape So, looking at those figures, less than 0.79% of visitors in June used a Mac, although 6.26% are now using some kind of firefox browser.
