Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
davulsukur replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Never mentioned any of those managers, so no idea why you brought them up. Of those you've named, only Mowbray was rescued off the scrap heap. JDT had success at his previous job, Allardyce had built a PL managerial career off saving clubs from relegation and JE was ludicrously sacked by Birmingham. I highly doubt Allardyce and JDT were "cheap" either, they will have commanded good salaries. Ismael has failed at WBA, Watford and Besiktas. His only success is getting a play off spot with Barnsley years ago. He's cheap because you've said that managers that command a decent salary won't come here, and it was backed up by your go to Journo in Nixon. I actually didn't want Edwards tbf. -

That's probably worse, 2 poor performances to start his tenure. -

Absolutely no excuse for not appointing either of these 2. We have plenty of cash left over from the £40m+ we've brought into the club (some of which is still coming in), a proper, decent appointment giving us the best chance for promotion and all the riches it offers. Instead we went for a cheap, out work manager that we've rescued off the scrap heap with absolutely no intention of building on the good work that Eustace laid down before him. -

Not a cat in hells chance we are winning this. We are a soft touch that wilt under the most minor of pressure. A win puts us back within touching distance of the playoffs, which almost certainly means a turgid performance and a loss. Our form won't pick up again until we're totally out of the playoff race (we are anyway) and any pressure has lifted. Then it's off on their summer jollies and back for pre-season with the usual talk of "putting things right this season, with a fresh start under the new gaffer", ad nauseam. -
Not that we need any more ammo against them but yeah, Waggott, Pasha and the cretins will all come out of this looking even worse than they already do, Derby survive and we continue to slide down the table. Next season we'll be struggling and Derby flying, probably with half our squad.

If he gets nothing tonight and we put in another total disaster of a performance, I think we can starting writing this guy off as a duffer. Struggling against 2 of the worst teams in the league isn't exactly the signs we are looking for in a new manager. He said he'd come in and change nothing/very little, let's hope he's abandoned that now, as everything we did when we were good, we aren't doing anymore. -
Yep, 2 wins on the bounce (if it stays like that) good to see we kick started their drive to safety. Also, we're now 10th, fucking 10th, we were 5th like 2 games ago.

If their plan is to put the prices up again, there won't be many buying season tickets at all, let alone at the last minute -

The only certainty for the future is that we will never be successful under these owners. -

I appreciate they are well out of touch (and fucking useless) but you would imagine that if they've acknowledged the concern over season ticket sales, they would have tried to rectify it. Edit: sorry i tried to apply logic to Venkys, my bad. I have no idea how the people in charge of our club haven't put us out of business already tbh. -

Surprises me that, all the actions they've taken since the summer have been inline with reducing season ticket sales further -

You suggested that people should go and watch Ismael's interview, where he appears to have been given assurances that he can build a team. You wouldn't push people in that direction if you didn't believe it yourself. You essentially presented that interview as evidence that he will be backed, ergo, everything is rosy in the garden. -

Summed up my feelings exactly. Didn't want Eustace gone, didn't want Ismael appointed, can't warm to the guy, fully expect this season to die off and next season to be a real struggle. -

Zero confidence in this lot (that's players, management and coaching staff) to get anything here. 2-1 defeat, another piss poor performance from Rovers and probably a goal from Gallagher or Moran or both. -

You can't have gone full circle already? Everything is rosy in the garden again. The reason they last 2 managers have walked out on the club is because any assurances they were given, were reneged upon. -

How does he manage to get paid to write this stuff? Actually quite impressive tbh -

It seems he benefited immensely from JE creating a well drilled, throw their bodies on the line, defensive unit with a siege mentality. Now that's gone to pot, he's reverted to type. Might as well give Toth some games and see what happens. The club won't buy a new No.1 in the summer, so we're stuck with them both. -

A really poor showing against Norwich, a lucky goal papered over the cracks. 2-0 down after 7mins to bottom of the league, fucking woeful. Next up, a poor Stoke side and if he gets nothing against them, he's in the shit after just 3 games. -

Waggott and Suhail picking up a nice fat pay rise for appointing a shite manager and destroying our season. They can all get fucked, I'm done. -

Can't see past a 2-0 defeat here. Nyambe to score to be a proper Rovers performance. I'll miss the whole thing as my kids are in a dance show I have to go and watch. Not looking forward to checking the score later. -

I've no idea how the club managed to deflect the blame back onto JE, thay statement the put out was a joke. I think a lot of Nixon's (paid for by SW) stories were the one's that did it. Agreed, all the rage should be heading the way of SW, SP and Venkys. -

Seen a few people have ordered plastic/inflatable snakes and some with some road sign poster, where Derby heads off to the left into League 1 and Rovers is straight on
