  1. Yeah this is what I'm hoping for. No bias towards players and its a complete clean slate. Hopefully he plays the best team, and not necessarily just shoehorning the best players into any position for the sake of it.
  2. Can only assume he'll be abstaining from watching the England games from now on, as he set his stall out loud and clear.
  3. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13233817/thomas-tuchel-to-england-former-chelsea-and-bayern-munich-manager-in-pole-position-for-job-with-the-fa-in-talk Skysports now reporting that The FA are in talks with Tuchel over taking the job. An enquiry allegedly went to Pep as well, but no dice.
  4. Your point about English coaches/managers just not being good enough is spot on. The FA don't seem to have had much long term planning or a contingency for when Southgate inevitably left his role. Could be a very rough few years for us if we are just trying to shoehorn in a manager based purely off the fact they are English. Wiegman gets lauded for her achievements with the Lionesses (given a CBE to boot) and no one gives a toss that she's Dutch. Don't know why we make such a big deal over it for the mens team. Like you say, the hard truth is that we just don't have any English coaches that are good enough right now and rectifying that is a long term solution not and overnight fix.
  5. Hang on, you're saying we need to develop English managers through the St George's park set up, citing the Spanish national coach's route to the senior team as a reference, and then pick 2 people who haven't managed England at any level whatsoever? Luis De La Fuente might have been unknown to us but he's been involved in the youth teams of the Spanish national team since 2013. Who's done that for England? Carsely has done it for 4 years and looks to be a complete car crash at senior level. There hasn't been the same level of long term planning by the FA, so we have no one like that to call upon. At best, they could give Carsely the job and hope it works out, if that's the route you want to go down. Lampard and Potter will have to take over the U19's, and move up the ranks over the next 10 years, if we are to emulate Spain.
  6. Why? Is he a Utd fan? He's from the north east, seems unlikely.
  7. Jesus christ is that it? That's the best we've got, Potter, Carsley or Lampard? You keep repeating that we went foreign and won nothing but do you seriously think any of those 3 will come close winning anything?
  8. Which Englishman are left? Howe Carsley Potter - maybe? O'Neil- currently winless and bottom of the league with Wolves. Lampard - 🤣
  9. I still can't believe we've only sold 4000 adult season tickets 🤯
  10. Worst start to a Premier league campaign in their history for Man Utd. ETH breaking his own records, as last season was their worst start prior to this season 😂
  11. He's held the ball up reasonably well in the past, holding off a defender at the time but I mean if he's not all that strong, he's basically got nothing to bring to the party.
  12. Good man management is only half the battle, the bloke went into a major tournament without knowing what his best starting 11 was. He was still dicking about with absolute nonsense like playing TAA in centre midfield (i note he isn't playing CM for Liverpool, like you said he would be). Stunning that we made it to the final, as we only played well for about 45mins across the whole tournament.
  13. Strong player but the rest of his game is lacking. Seems highly unlikely he'll reach 8+ goals in the league. We don't really play to his strengths either which doesn't help him.
  14. A hallmark of last seasons games under JE was that as soon as we took the lead/equalised, we just packed everyone into our own half and invited all the pressure. Nothings changed, it seems.
  15. The last 2 games have shown us that: JE is just your bog standard, run of the mill championship manager (Mowbray MK2). The players weak mentality is still here and remains a huge problem. We are easily the slowest team in the league. It's another mid-lower table plod, with a possible flirt with relegation depending on other teams. Recruitment has been quite poor once again. Our attack is abysmal, as we knew it would be as soon as Szmodics was shuffled out of the door.
