Any criticism of the manager for his ridiculously slow and negative team selection and tactics? Any chance of the play offs? -

Fair play to Ismael. Hes making a shit squad of players look considerably worse than it actually is. Picked the slowest, most lethargic side imaginable against a vulnerable Stoke side with 3 wins in 23 before tonight. You look at the new signings. Forshaw, woeful. Sanderson, shite. Cantwell, shite. Ribeiro and Gueye, bang average. Some recruitment but you get what you pay for. -

That team is not a pleasant read. Sanderson, Forshaw and a back 5? Such a slow team too. Lets hope its genius. -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Interviews like that mean nothing in that regard, even if you are a body language expert. But how anyone could come to the conclusion that he ISNT happy with him based on one bad performance, considering he has had a very good season under him before is utter rubbish. -

I wasnt convinced by the appointment and obviously his first 2 results have been poor. "Mental" and "terrible" though, you aren't half going over the top. Already concluding that a player who has done really well under him in the past is against him now based on one poor performance. And picking apart his press conferences and reacting to throw away comments as if hes said something really offence. Is this weird and sudden u turn from hyping up his record when he was linked to seemingly thinking he is a dreadful, sackworthy appointment after 2 games, all based on your mate saying he was dreadful in a season where he got Barnsley into 5th, with any of your own critical thinking left to one side because this guy "played at a decent level?" How do you know he is willing to essentially be submissive in terms of recruitment and just take whatever players hes given? And why is that a good thing? -

See if he gets one right. I think the only one he has so far was one leaked by a few different people on here the night before. Its a tough one. We dont have the players to play a back 3, Ribeiro isnt a wing back, Sanderson is crap and we dont have a fit left footed centre back. But we also dont have any wingers. -

As we saw with Eustace and his nasty comments, Tomasson who "in hindsight" got all of his tactics wrong after he left and Mowbray who again messed up the tactics. -

So our wing backs were too deep and we didnt put enough (lets be honest, any) good balls in. Isnt that at least partly down to the managers tactics? We created 2 chances in 75 minutes with the back 3. Most of the time we spent passing across the backline lacking urgency and with a lack of balance in the team. And Sanderson came on and should have killed the game with a bit of dreadful defending. Obviously the players take a share of the blame. I dont put it down to a lack of passion but if it was, its the responsibility of Ismael to motivate them. It was just dreadful defending and goalkeeping. Its the players AND the manager who take the overall blame. For you, 100% players. -

Hes beyond reasoning it seems. So to clarify: - he wasnt an appointment dictated in any way by a low budget as what we offer is very competitive - he did a good job everywhere hes been and everytime hes been sacked, it was the wrong decision - his tactics are in no way responsible for 1 points in 2 games -

For someone so keen to shoot down anyone coming to premature conclusions about Ismael. You seem to very much have made up your mind on him already. I dont think it was purely down to "desire" on Saturday although it would reflect badly on Ismael if it was. And I also dont think his change to a back 3 helped, it certainly didnt lead to us creating chances. We barely created anything all game. He as an individual wont be. -

Backing the players and manager doesnt mean thinking that we will win every game. That West Brom win was ultimately amidst an overall 3 month run of pretty dismal results as we as ever drop off like a stone. -

That lovely period where everything he does is right, every tactic he employs even in games we lose is right, his previous record is flawless, and he may well see the assurances hes been given come to fruition. "Positive balance" ie even when he was sacked, he did well, and when we lose its all down to the players. -

Its too early to judge Ismael. Goes on to judge him and specifically highlight everything he has done right. -

Kaminski had been excellent barring a couple of games right before he broke down with an injury he was carrying. People at the time seemed to only remember those 2 or 3 games when justifying keeping Pears in the team. -

You mentioned about 400 managers that you would have been happy with. Basically anyone you could think of that didnt have any connection to Burnley. Ive not seen much in the way of crosses to Gueye in the first 2 games to the extent that anyone can be sure what the tactics are yet. -

I know one thing about Ismael. Its a better appointment than having Travis and/or Tronstad as player manager! -

I never said there was an ulterior motive. I said it was the wrong decision by Tomasson. Although based on the fact that Kaminski was his number 1 up until he got that injury, I think it was as much a case of him not wanting to change towards the end of the season rather than actually thinking that Pears was a better keeper. Who do you think is a better keeper? -

roversfan99 replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That implies that a manager is always right. He was wrong with that decision. For the majority of the time he picked Kaminski. Pears only came in when Kaminski got injured but he seemingly didnt want to rock the boat and put back in the far superior keeper when he was fit again. -

I remember people trying to justify the decision to play Pears over Kaminski because he was "good with his feet." He isnt. -

Realistic thoughts on the future

Cheaper season tickets and we will see about potential assurances given to the new manager coming to fruition. Naive in the extreme. Of course any money going to the club is going to the owners. Thats not a criticism of anyone putting money into the club and I dont agree with people especially who dont live in the country suggesting that they shouldnt. But the staff etc will get paid either way, if you put say £500 in a year thats £500 less for the owners to subsidise. -

If he was decent then signing a new keeper wouldnt be suggested as a pressing need in the summer. All keepers make mistakes but he makes so many and its the quantity that continues to cost us. That being said, I have no doubt that he will be the number 1 next season. -

Your analysis seems to be a bit off here. "Much better" is at best debatable. They have 4 points from their last 6 games. Ennis joined Blackpool on loan in January. Moran has also got a lot of stick from Stoke fans from what I have seen. Its Rovers away midweek at the business end of the season, we have seen this script many times. But you would think we are playing the Galacticos from your post!
