  1. Of course he would be interested. It would be a monumental upgrade even allowing for the dreadful running of the club considering hes working in Ireland. But he wouldnt even be mentioned if he wasnt a player here.
  2. Also, that scenario relies on the assumption that the club has been swamped by big name applications that they couldnt have expected. IF the likes of Boateng and Boa Morte are being interviewed, and thats obviously a big if. Then they arent extras that we couldnt have possibly forseen applying for.
  3. If we are interviewing as many as has been reported, theres certainly no contingency plan.
  4. You criticise Boro for selling their striker mid season. The thing is, they have at least spent big money on the likes of Morgan Whittaker, Tommy Conway and Aidan Morris this season. Theyve also spent on fees for Burgzorg, Edmondson, Borges and Hamilton (which admittedly hasnt really worked). And the loans theyve signed notably Iling Junior and Ihehancho will be really expensive loans. Compare that to us. We have brought in over 30m in fees and have spent about 2 or 3 million. Yet Boro in your mind get constant criticism and you defend our business.
  5. What makes you so sure that Gestede and Owen are solely in charge of our next appointment?
  6. If we are even interviewing the likes of Boateng and Boa Morte then we are just wasting crucial time. We shouldnt be interviewing loads of people. We should have had a succession plan or at least an idea of what we want. If we had say 3 we were deciding between then fine, interview and decide away, but more than that suggests we havent got a clue and are just interviewing loads hoping to stumble across someone. Im guessing a foreign name is more likely because theyll be less likely to know much about the shit show that is a Venkys run football club and it will likely be someone of a calibre that means that less/no teams at our level would even consider such a name.
  7. He hasnt justified us signing him or proven to be a good signing. And again, it wasnt questions of him as a player as id never heard of him. It was about the nature of our business. I have liked what I have seen from his very limited game time so far though.
  8. I never said there is a problem interviewing candidates. I dont know why you keep saying that. Obviously you interview potential head coaches. I am saying there is a problem with not seemingly having a succession plan and reportedly (only reports) interviewing so many people as it suggests that you dont have a clue what you want. And chaddy, my point had nothing to do with having faith, writing us off, being negative. It was purely that the probability of us being 2 of 8 or 9 teams to finish 4th or 6th multiplied by then being the best of 4 teams in the play offs is very small. Nothing to do with opinions or writing anyone off. We are considerably more likely to be a Championship side next year compared to a Premier League side. You cant argue with that.
  9. The chances of promotion are very slim, regardless of optimism/pessimism. The % chance of us getting in the play offs multiplied by the % chance of us being the best of those 4 teams is low. So the likelihood is the mess of lots of players leaving, key players with a year left, a minimal budget etc are all there, without the incentive of being 5th with 13 games left. We are almost certainly a better proposition now than we will be in the summer. Lowe deserves lots of credit but equally its an unusual situation where the players have a sense of injustice and an added motivation of the immediate departure of the manager.
  10. Absolutely. Managers in the summer will be getting a squad where half of it has left and all of the key players are going into their last year. There will be a pitiful budget and a refusal to renew contracts. But being 5th with a 4 point buffer on 7th, thats the incentive.
  11. I dont think it is aimed at me, I just dont think anyone wants anyone to fail to prove themselves right. Take Gueye. The majority thought he wasnt up to it, but the reaction to his goal at Wednesday and what has happened since has delighted everyone.
  12. Promotion would likely lead to a massive bonus and/or pay rise for Waggott. And the financial benefits for the club would look great in terms of what is thought of him. The budget has consistently been low for a while, summer and winter windows. The owners just dont give a shit. Their sole focus is slashing costs. Often the most logical reason is the correct one.
  13. Again, not wanting a player to be selected in the next match doesnt equate to wanting him to fail to prove themselves right.
  14. Pears Brittain Sanderson Hyam Ribeiro Travis Buckley Dolan Cantwell Kargbo Gueye Could do with getting ideally a full game in the legs of Carter, Dennis and one or two others if the under 21s are playing early in the week/in a behind closed doors game too.
  15. It probably wouldnt to be honest.
  16. So when those 2 players you mentioned scored yesterday, you think anyone was anything other than delighted? Its rubbish.
  17. Yet when a player has been here for half a season or even a season and is struggling and people are saying he isnt up to it, you rubbish them and say he will come good. Kargbo looked promising yesterday but its very early days to put any doubters (which were more at the lack of money spent and the level Kargbo individually had played and done well at, no one had heard of the player himself) "in the bin." You are already on the turn though against Eustace and justifying the running of the club. Nornal service has been resumed. Recruitment has been very short term focused and mixed but the main reason is the shocking lack of reinvestment.
  18. Yes, im sure that people spend so much time and money watching Rovers because they want them to fail.
  19. As the feeling of injustice wears off, you are left with a coach above his pay grade steering you through such an important part of the season. But its cheap and easy so I suspect it will happen.
  20. We dont do new contracts here.
  21. He may have told a white lie, who cares. He left because the clubs a mess. That should be our primary concern. The owners and board still carry on and they are the issues.
  22. Interviewing a large number of people suggests that they dont know who or what they want. Obviously the main thing is quality but it doesnt suggest that they anticipated what to do when Eustace was no longer here. It does also matter though when the decision is made. We only have 13 games left and are in mid February so we need to make a decision soon. You like with transfers were asking for a decision to be made soon. Because you know that isnt likely you are changing to justify it. And how do you know that the decision lies with Gestede and Owen?
  23. The players have been united all season, its totally irrelevant to the point that Eustace was justifiably irritated by the transfer windows both in January and the summer. The main issue was the lack of budget considering the sales but this was compounded seemingly by the jumbled nature and often the fact that the head coach is getting enough of a say regarding the players he will then be judged on. And has Kargbo "put all of the doubters in the bin?" Again, most people (even you didnt seem too impressed) raised a question mark over signing a player who had struggled to make an impact above Serie C. We all hoped he would be a hidden gem but its too early to say either way. His cameo yesterday was very promising but hes played about 40 minutes of league football so far, plus an hour in a cup game.
  24. Absolutely. Decided and didnt bother to tell him. But at least then we had the summer. Now we need to make a decision quickly.
