  1. Those results have not been BECAUSE those managers were English, it is down to the individual.
  2. I never said that they should, in fact I said that I understand why you get a video like that on official channels, and indeed it would be unwise to say our targets were not first choice, if they feel any where perhaps unwise signings etc. My point was more that because they are only going to say things that paint the club in the best possible light and blowing smoke up the owners arses means that such a video is very limited in use.
  3. We should be so lucky to get that far with dollopers like Maguire and Dier in defence.
  4. Isnt part of the point being made that we dont have to organise friendlies v also rans and that we could still be playing good opposition that we organise ourselves?
  5. Watching England is always a chore. The one talent that stands out is Foden and he will be dropped for the tournament for Mason Mount.
  6. Fair play for showing his face but I can tell from listening for a minute or two that its just the usual platitudes, Waggott is great, Tomasson is great, the owners are great, everything is great. Always going to be the case, especially on official channels which to an extent is fair enough. He won't be asked tough questions despite mentioning FFP early, ie how can Brereton's stay possibly be justified in line with that? How can teams like Brentford be mentioned yet we don't sell our assets AND reinvest. On the transfer front, was Hirst really Tomasson's first choice? Why was Morton the only addition to an area in which we are so light and lacking in physicality and experience? What made us spend so much of our budget on an attacking midfielder with a questionable track record, and how can he not make the bench now others are fit? What is the expectation of Mola? How much money was left in the pot on the last day? How much of the Brereton funds would have been available had we sold him? And crucially, what exactly is the process in picking and signing players? Off the field, mention Preston etc in the North West, our prices are much higher and our figures are lower, why is nothing done?
  7. Toney and Abraham are both decent strikers but are a level or two away from top level, so they like everyone will fall into an abyss. Kane is so good that no matter what they do, they will never seriously challenge him, and even if say we was chasing a game, would it really work to have one on aswell as Kane? It would potentially reduce the latter's ability to poach a goal, and our attacking players tend to want to come inside and get involved.
  8. Appointing Woodgate would be a one way ticket to League 1, what he has done to suggest being a good option is beyond me. Rotherham are in a weird situation, the definition of a yo-yo club but seem more competitive than usual at this level. That being said, they have had their manager poached by a League 1 club which perhaps suggests that they don't have much money to offer their manager, so they will have to be creative. Do they maybe tempt Warnock into a last hurrah at a former club, giving them the best possible chance of a second season, or maybe try and poach someone themselves like Gareth Ainsworth?
  9. Can only think that he will be about to earn significantly more, and will dress it up with the usual new challenge rhetoric. Cant really blame him if so though.
  10. A third midfield player would potentially help but I also think the players in there have not been great. Morton has been pretty poor and Buckley likewise in a new deeper role, and even Travis has his limitations.
  11. I dont feel comfortable with us using specific tangible targets in regards to % of gametime by academy graduates. That sort of thing naturally can conflict with a desire to pick the best team each week, and can lead to non graduates to be discriminated against. I also think it goes hand in hand with dismissing any player touching 30 as being unwanted and well past it, as it seems is now fashionable to do. Our midfield is lacking in experience and looks as lightweight as many of us thought amidst the praise showered on the club for the summer window.
  12. I dont that that style was on show during those games really. V QPR we scored early and managed the game without creating chances. Against West Brom it was heart more than anything that got us over the line and even at Blackpool it was similar. All the soundbites about journeys may have relevance but equally the style we seem under the impression that Tomasson wants to play hasnt really been evident on the pitch at all yet, and the Watford game to me is the outlier. We have also been umcompetitive too often. The buzzword now seems to be inconsistency but I think the level of our performance has been consistently quite poor. It is a results game and we have a reasonable tally but I have misgivings about how we have played and whether it will continue to earn points at the current rate without changes.
  13. And there are minimal signs of that sort of style assumed too, on the pitch.
  14. So many times it has been reiterated that we know how Tomasson wants to play but that seems more based on what he says and limited interpretations of how he apparently played at Malmo when he had the best team in the league. From the first 10 games, it has been a lot of needless slow, boring passing across the back when we have it but ultimately we dont dominate possession because we have regular spells where we barely have a kick. Its also inconsistent selections, woeful set pieces and occasional, individual pressing.
  15. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-dack-tomasson-defeat-25045685 Why didn't Bradley Dack come on? I think we had Ryan in the game, he did well, Bez can always score a goal and I put in a stronger guy if we wanted to play more direct and in that way there was no space for him in that position unless we changed formation which I didn’t think was necessary. Utter rubbish from Tomasson. A formation change wasn't necessary?
  16. He doesn't seem to be using the ones he has (including 6 that he brought in) particularly effectively though. Work in progress and journeys are regularly mentioned, the same terms that were banned words last year, but there needs to be clear signs of a potentially effective game plan. This passing it across the backline is clearly a tactic instilled by the management and we are not effective doing so.
  17. Absolutely shocking performance today and at least the third time in which we have been uncompetitive in 10 games, not good enough. Developing certain strong worries and reservations about the manager and what he is trying to. The passing it out from the back nonsense is naive as it was when Mowbray tried it, everything is too slow, its risk averse and we don't move the other team around, and it totally nullifies us going forward, all season we have been terrible at creating chances and it is so boring to watch too. He is tactically inflexible too, just making like for like changes and leaving our best player on the bench, We are as good as beaten when we concede first and our set pieces are an embarrassment. Looking at the attack and there are huge issues as there have been all season, for a manager who was such a decorated striker, his teams are so blunt. Why did he again leave Dack on the bench? Why is his main attacking signing this summer playing in the kids team when our first team doesn't have any attacking threat? We are so reliant on Brereton who was poor, Dolan as he is 95% of the time was totally ineffective and Hedges has had a good season but he needs to be far more productive. Hirst was lightweight again and his finish at the end was embarrassing, following the weakest of shots 5 minutes earlier. Defensively, hard to pick out any of the back 3 as being poor really but I am unsure who Tomasson would see as third choice and maybe he is reluctant to not pick them all when he can at the cost of our overall shape. Pickering was fine and again gets unwarranted stick, Carter on the other side was not very good and looked like a lumbering centre back playing out of position. I am not impressed by Morton and Travis was really poor too, Wharton should have been involved.
  18. A really dull first half. This season, our possession based approach of endless risk averse passing across the defensive line has similarities to the one 2 years ago under Mowbray and really stunts our attack because there is a huge disconnect between the attackers and the rest of the team. Unsure why there is so much focus on Pickering again, he has been one of our better performers and his excellent pass set up our only real chance.
  19. What do you think was our best performance? Mola is injured, Tomasson said he had picked up a knock.
  20. Seemingly with Dack in the squad and Szmodics playing in the kids team. True to an extent but signing a player for such a fee in our situation means that the player needs to become an important one. The question has always been whether we needed to spend so much on a player in that position.
  21. Strange signing indeed, especially if Tomasson uses 3 at the back with any regularity. Even if not, we have Dack ahead of him.
  22. It does and obviously its out of our control but it would be better if they didnt end up there. No chance.
  23. Let's hope that Chile's case is thrown out because it certainly isn't in our best interest for Brereton to go to the world cup and potentially miss games. Also hope that Kaminski is left out of this stupid winter World Cup.
  24. He was crap. Slow, didn't score and assist, not skilful, not creative, not a good passer. I think he tried his best but nothing beyond that.
