  1. Duff wouldnt be mentioned if he didnt use to play with us. Although Karanka would be shockingly bad.
  2. Youve been critical yourself of the fact that Eustace feels that working here is impossible and he would rather go to a relegation scrap. Of course its dire. And embarassing. Your post on those options goes into detail about structures and if they would be interested. Im just after a yes or no if you would be happy rather than avoidance of the question.
  3. Its not a criticism of you though. "Slammed the shortlist." The situation is dire, the likely candidates are all considerable downgrades on Eustace. Which if any of Karanka, O'Neil, Carvalhal and Wicky would you see as good appointments and as appointments that give us a chance of a top 6 place? Ill give you my answer. Of the 3 I know, I wouldnt want any with Karanka the worst and none would get us into the play offs.
  4. Do you think that any of those WITHOUT the striker you called for and allowing for the disruption in between that can get us in the play offs? Thats a lie on Eustace. I considered him to be a sensible appointment and more befitting of the circumstances than Tomasson. But again the bigger picture was a mess. Carsley again a big risk as hes a manager of kids. Its more frustration at the situation though. Maybe there isnt anyone who could be on par with Eustace. Even the better options such as Edwards have a feel of the least bad.
  5. As I have said, its all very depressing. All of the names are a downgrade on Eustace so its not something to be excited about. Maybe Edwards is the least bad option. I get that to be fair, you have been critical of the club. But I just dont get how you can be like, oh well, lets decide between these no marks and get into the play offs as if nothing has happened. Karanka in particular would be a terrible appointment. I have said in a different context before about O'Neil, you have seen Wolves go from ill disciplined mess conceding goal after goal from set pieces to much improved since he left. Carvalhal isnt going to leave Braga. No idea about Wicky but doesnt sound like he left his last club in good shape.
  6. So you would be happy with that list? Maybe we have different standards. I expect from this club run by Venkys the very worst and they still manage to surprise me. Karanka would be particularly bad.
  7. Itll be Karanka. Terrible choice but like Forshaw a pal of Rudy presumably.
  8. What a terrible, terrible list. Mid table this season, relegation next.
  9. People seem to get off throwing rubbish in at times like these.
  10. The public statement yesterday was a stroke of genius to be fair. The last 24 hours have seen a lot more anti Eustace stuff off the back of it. I certainly dont wish him any success but equally I totally understand why he is going. He shouldnt be a focus of the attention.
  11. Ive no idea who I would go for. Lets be honest, its all a bit depressing. All the names mentioned are downgrades and especially considering the upheavel, we wont be getting into the play offs and the club is in a mess. You said we needed a goalscorer to get into the play offs and that was working on the assumption that Eustace stayed. Now we have neither. Its going to be understandably toxic at Ewood on Saturday.
  12. Im in no doubt that he wont come, thats not my question. Unless im mistaken, he was on your shortlist only yesterday. What has changed from thinking of him as a candidate to telling people he is unrealistic? I know Elliott Jackson said he isnt realistic so wondering if it was that.
  13. Im sure yesterday that you put him on your shortlist. Why the sudden change?
  14. Erm, ok. To simplify. The more people involved at a dysfunctional club like ours, the more chance of conflict, disagreements and ineffiency. As an aside, that £5m promise is totally unfounded.
  15. When we decided to go for a director of football type approach, I remember saying that there are risks/downsides. Notably players being signed that the head coach doesnt want, internal fighting, disagreements etc and that those risks would only be increased at a club as dysfunctional as ours. You dismissed me out of hand as being negative. This always felt inevitable.
  16. What you have quoted is quite the opposite of a snap judgement.
  17. Yep, Kargbo showed some pace without much at the end of it, Dennis looked off the pace because he is nowhere near fit and our new 4th choice centre back used to play with him at Birmingham. Coupled with a sub left back, a striker who scores a goal a season and Adam bloody Forshaw, what more does he want to get promoted.
  18. Talk about the elephant in the room. Here are some pictures of the cheap signings we made that tipped our soon to be announced manager over the edge.
  19. Head coach, manager. Dont be pedantic. So what you are saying is if you think the head coach should get to choose the players he is working with, that makes you exempt from being able to critique them? What utter bollocks. He should have been given a new deal in the last few months but it shouldnt make a difference here either way. If we were run properly and gave him reasonable and competitive resources to do his job, then even if a side in the relegation zone activated his release clause, it would be laughed off. As it is and regardless of how "decent" you think the January window was. 22nd placed Derby is a more attractive proposition to a talented "head coach" as opposed to 6th placed Rovers. If ever you wanted to sum up Venkys run Rovers.
  20. Eustace isnt even out of the door and his Stoke "win" goes back to Johnson.
  21. Loving the naivety that he still might stay. Ridiculous that he has taken training and it hasnt been sorted since full time yesterday.
  22. Youve never been able to grasp that thinking that the manager should have final decision doesnt mean that I have to then agree with every decision made should that happen. Its irrelevant here anyway as he clearly didnt here. We didnt even sign an out and out striker, just loads of squad fillers on short term deals. Wasnt decent, it was crap enough to push the manager over the edge.
  23. The stuff about being promised x or y is total guesswork and rumour. But the reality is, no manager is going to be happy in the light of such significant sales, to be given such a minimal budget spread across loads of sub par sticking plasters, no contracts signed since Gestede was allowed on to the gravy train either is simply not good enough. The January window seems to be the straw that broke the camels back. A window you claimed to be a good one was clearly anything but.
  24. If you genuinely believe that location/family is the main reason that he is leaving. Then why are you annoyed at the owners and board?
  25. When he goes. Either way, terribly out of form side amidst the current disruption away versus a West Brom side off the back of a morale boosting win and with a much better team. Home win.
