  1. We cant be amidst a chasing pack of teams waiting around for a potential loan on the assumption that his current club sign someone. We know how that will end.
  2. I think towards the end we tired with our squad running on empty, and both Travis going off and the change to a back 5 hindered us much more than those 2 going off. Their subs also made a difference.
  3. We also shouldnt be at the point of stepping up our striker push with 2 and a half days left. Any target should be getting to the very final stages. What happened to the second player we are close to?
  4. You think he "typically" has a good game?
  5. Seems like hes just trying to create an interesting story. We needed a striker before, we still need a striker.
  6. In the last 2 victories, we had been very fortunate with refereeing decisions in our favour. Ill take it any day, but Preston can feel aggrieved. To be fair he did against Luton. Dolan might have had "intensity" but it was a typical performance from him. He did put in one good cross which led to a goal to be fair but otherwise he halted a number of attacks either through a lack of end product, a poor decision made or by over elaborating.
  7. Forshaw isnt good enough. Annoying that a club with supposed play off aspirations is signing someone like that. Certainly havent written Kargbo off, he is a winger who hasnt done much above Serie C level. Its again not a signing most sides with play off aspirations but lets hope he is a hidden gem. Length of contract is a concern. Have to remember the standard of defender hes playing against in those videos. I cant see us signing another winger but we could do with one for the right hand side. I think a striker on loan, maybe a left back on loan if we are lucky and thats it.
  8. But there are a lot of players none of whom have any pace and 2 or 3 of them dont offer enough going forward. Cantwell is someone who is best as a number 10 and we also have Weimann and Ohashi when he comes back. If we had more speed and quality to the sides not only would we improve the wide areas but I think we could also get more from the likes of Cantwell and Gueye. I feel like its a really weak area of our team. So often when you through the individuals, the defenders stand out and you are left wanting a lot more from the 3 behind the striker. If we could shift Sigurdsson no one would notice he wasnt here. But I think even shifting one of the other 3 who havent done enough would be good if it allowed us the space in the squad. Obviously we wont get a striker, another winger, a midfielder and a left back but I think we could do with all of them. So its about which order to prioritise them.
  9. Im guessing that our penalty award and their non penalty award were both the correct decisions in your head speaking totally from a neutral perspective? We got lucky today, having seen it back their shout could have been a penalty for handball on Gueye and ours was really soft. And I am very happy to take the luck and run with it. Dont worry. If you think we got a dodgy decision in our favour and admit it, the goal wouldnt be taken away.
  10. I really would like another quick winger as an option on the other side, as much as it wont happen. The attacking players in central positions clearly would benefit from real pace. Gueye holds it up and someone running in behind would add a new dimension. Cantwell is a great technician but hes been a big disappointment, he has quality but the attackers around him dont get the best out of him. Ideally, we could shift one or two of the ones we have. Sigurdsson is the most obvious one even if it requires a bit of a pay off. Dolan, Hedges, or if neither was possible, even ACD to allow us to bring in a quick right winger where you could have the option of stretching the play on both sides.
  11. Its not just about ticking boxes. A Baker replacement? Someone who is a considerable downgrade. A centre back who hasnt impressed me so far and a winger who hasnt really done much above Serie C. Obviously you have to move on if you cant get not only your planned targets but also then acknowledge if you dont think the window is sufficient for a team supposedly going for a play off push. Its such a shame because we are in a strong position but the squad is running at maximum, the bench is full of kids clearly just making up the numbers and any reasonable owners would at least allow the finances especially after the sales to invest a few million in some proper quality. And youve surely learnt from experience that it isnt as simple as offering him a new contract. If he does well he will probably be less likely to accept. Such a short deal is very peculiar.
  12. Great win and much needed to stop the rot, aided by a favourable refereeing display and not without jitters but overall deserved as we should have been more than 2 up before their late surge. Gueye has become a different player in the last few games and was excellent tonight. Great to see him goal, he still often is AWOL when a ball is played in a dangerous position especially if he laid it off but showed great hunger to get his head on that cross for the goal. The ball seems to be sticking to him so much more and hes got a great leap on him. He is a player who is particularly easy to want him to do well. Defensively strong again aside from at the end where an extra defender hindered us rather than helped. Batth is a man mountain, Hyam having a very good season and Brittain superb. Great to see Travis back even though he clearly isnt fully fit and Buckley was much better than he has been. Dodgy Pears is starting to come back out unfortunately over the last few weeks. We need more quality in attacking areas, Dolan put in one great cross similar to a few recent games yet everything else is riddled with poor decison making and over elaborating. Hedges doesnt offer anything in attack and it was easy to forget that Weimann was playing. The subs didnt improve us with Forshaw particularly sloppy and the addition of Sanderson didnt aid us. You look at that bench and realise we desperately need more players in to give us a realistic chance of getting over the line. We deserve money spent, Eustace does, a small group of players giving everything do, but Venkys I expect wont care and its such a shame.
  13. Very strange to give Kargbo such a short contract. Not even mention of an option so after settling in, if he rips it up next season we probably have to sell him. A few players needed to come in ASAP as this group is battling on giving everything but running on empty. Need some energy and pace.
  14. It doesnt. Not sure if he is underage anyway but even if not, he wasnt registered as he was out on loan.
  15. Its pretty reasonable for a loss making Championship club to keep aside a chunk of sales proceeds. The problem is, Venkys refuse to invest 95% rather than perhaps 30%.
  16. I wasnt necessarily his biggest fan but your dislike of Broughton is massively clouding your judgement. Szmodics was not the only good signing under his reign, but he isnt on par with Coyle signing Mulgrew anyway as Szmodics not only excelled here but also generated a considerable profit. Hyam hasn't been poor in the main, he has been good in the main (this season and his first season when he got player of the season) with last season the exception. Brittain has been a good season and on Tronstad, you staunchly against Broughton happen to be the only person who doesnt rate him.
  17. Derby are close to selling their CB Cashin to Brighton. They are paying £4m+ on a Norweigan defender and have already bought Clarke from Boro. These owners are really holding us back so much and yet still people either defend them or defend the current transfer window.
  18. Norwich at home moved to 12.30 purely to be one of the additional games not even on the main Sky channel. Yet more disregard shown towards fans. Away fans setting off at silly o clock and some home fans missing too all so arm chair fans can watch it if they dont fancy any of the other games on at the same time.
  19. Or most likely, seeing as a bid was apparently earlier in the week. That we bid on both him and Kargbo and the latter is the one who we had a bid accepted for first.
  20. The Samba and Nelsen argument is a weak one too. Obviously people will judge players on how they do in a Rovers shirt. But there have also been a lot of players plucked from obscurity that have ended up as duds. Sasha Petshi, Fode Koita, Herold Goulon, Elrio Van Heerden, and other forgettable names. Kargbo may well turn into a very shrewd bit of business but if our window ends up with a League 1 defender on loan, a Plymouth reject on a short term deal, a player who has only really thrived at Serie C level and potentially a striker on loan, its clearly not what a reasonable club considering the sales made should have expected considering our league position and I am sure that Eustace wont be too happy. Lets hope a striker signs for a decent fee and comes out of nowhere and we also get a midfielder and left back. But I am not confident.
  21. I think people would take you seriously if you stood by your opinions even if what happens doesnt follow suit. Now you are just resorting to "well shall we not sign anyone then." A petulant counter argument knowing that the window is not going how you wanted it to but you cant bring yourself to admit it.
  22. What I dont get is you clearly think we tried and wanted to get better players. You acknowledge that we couldnt. But it doesnt in any way make you say things like, we arent getting what we wanted. We arent getting what we need. The manager might not be too pleased. You dont criticise the fact that again we arent spending much money. You just double down, regardless of what youve said before. Your belief that we will make the play offs doesnt seem to change in any way, even though youve said in the past that our play off hopes depended on something we seem unlikely to get.
  23. If we buy a striker for a few million pounds then obviously it will change the reaction, depending on who it is. There is nothing wrong with players from overseas. But its you echoing Eustace who said you wanted domestic players with Championship experience. Ive always said personally that you can often find better value on the continent but the standard at which Kargbo has been playing is a bit concerning.
  24. The point isnt about my opinion on those specific players. I am just saying that I dont think that Eustace is getting what he wants. He asked for one thing and seemingly is getting another and he said "the club" likes him which is as clear as you can get to suggest that its not the signing he had in mind. We dont need this superfan get behind the lads FFS rhetoric. Obviously all of the soundbites from players and manager will be saying they think we can. We are all desperate to make the play offs but we are discussing whether we a fans think we can and will, without the blue and white glasses on. I personally think that we dont have the squad for a top 6 push, the creaks in our squad are already showing hence a terrible January and we wont strengthen sufficiently to avoid a 4th successive season where we are unable to sustain first half of the season form across 46 games to get over the line. You said the same about those managers when in employment and "after a think" turned 180 degrees
