  1. No it wasnt. He made error after error last year, he was an absolute liability. Just marginally less terrible than Wahlstedt. And this year, it hasnt just "calmed down." Hes had plenty of praise.
  2. Its hard to get excited about Kargbo potentially signing. We do need a quick winger, mind you we thought we were getting that with ACD. And he would be permanent. But its hard not to draw paralells with Telalovic, he seemingly thrived in Serie C and has struggled in Serie B. Its not a signing befitting a Championship play off push and even chaddy was critical of it. No doubt he will be our only permanent signing too. With one or two loans on top.
  3. Oh come on. Haters? Dieing to bounce on him? Constant stupid criticism? He has had loads of praise this season. He messed up yesterday though.
  4. Definitely not over 12 months. Hes been better over 6 months but Tronstad has been mr consistent. But equally, obviously he shouldnt be dropped especially as Toth looked dodgy v Coventry.
  5. Surely thats Ange at the job centre.
  6. I think Emerton was similar at a higher level.
  7. I think a name briefly mentioned.
  8. He was, and he wasnt and isnt a very good manager, but which managers arent in it for themselves? Did he speak highly of the owners?
  9. It was the summer we spent £10m. He was clearly just managing expectations. Either way, another deflection of blame.
  10. Brittain is definitely not half as effective anywhere other than at right back. But what made you think he was ready to start at Championship level and to move one of our best performers this season out of the way to accomodate it?
  11. Yes, it was Tony Mowbray who stopped them from otherwise putting all of their efforts into promotion. Obviously a rumour, but maybe another thing to question on in general added to an already unfortunately lengthy list, @K-Hod what has happened to the vacant chief scout role after Park left?
  12. I very much doubt it made any difference, nor do I think that his improvement is in any way down to Toth "putting pressure on him. An error has been in the post. He made one at Oxford that lead to a goal disallowed and one v Pompey that wasnt deemed a penalty, wasnt put away and we even instantly scored on the counter.
  13. Its not the stats necessarily, its the standard. He has dropped out of the side since he moved up from Serie C to Serie B.
  14. Preston have some decent midfielders already. Dont they know that they can only get someone worse than them and it doesnt matter how bad, the logic can be "well we couldnt get as good."
  15. Even if whoever we signed wasnt as good as those 2. You are defending Forshaw as if there isnt a sliding scale of how inferior any player is to those 2. My issue isnt even that Forshaw isnt as good. It is that he is so much worse, that he isnt good enough to step in.
  16. Yeah, for the free kick the goal felt inevitable with Twine such a good taker and Pears standing too far towards the far post.
  17. I do want pace. But not pacy players who cant hit a barn door. They have to have some ability too. Yes, I disagree massively with Elliott Jackson. I would have Buckley at 5/10. I actually said Forshaw was marginally better than Buckley but this isnt some some of bias against him. If he plays well I will happily say. I think playing him deep exposes his big weakness. He initially impressed further forward a few years ago where he isnt at risk of being disposessed near our goal.
  18. I know we are talking about a squad player. My point is pretty clear. Wont be able to get quite as good as the main 2. But its not a case of, well we cant get someone is good so it doesnt matter how bad he is. Baker was reasonable cover, not as good as the main 2 but still a solid player. Forshaw is not good enough to provide reasonable cover. Had we signed Jason Lowe for the role, you could still use your argument. As if you are saying, it doesnt matter how bad he is, we arent going to get as good as Tronstad or Travis and hes a squad player so why does it matter.
  19. If we want pace and zero footballing ability surely our recruitment should go to athletics. Hes a donkey. No one said we could get someone on par with Travis and Tronstad. Like with Baker, there will be a downgrade. But he was a Championship standard, decent downgrade. Its the level of the downgrade to Forshaw that is the issue.
  20. Elliott Jackson isnt automatically right on all opinions and Dunn thinks Sinclair Armstrong would be a good signing so best to take his opinions with a pinch of salt. If we are reliant on either or both of the 2 that started today until Tronstad is back, then our strongest part of the team for half a season becomes much weaker. Gueye has definitely played much better in the last 2 games but he needs to start scoring to really be seen as up to it. Hold up play was very good. We are seeing why the timing as well as the quality of signings are important. These 3 poor losses in winnable games edge us closer to the pack of mid table mediocrity.
  21. Sanderson summed himself up on Tuesday when his first touch took the ball 10 yards in front of him. He smashed into the tackle but really it was a tackle he should never have had to make. Compared to other centre backs who are much calmer, and obviously I appreciate hes not played for a while so is rusty, but he seems so much more rash. The midfield isnt the sole reason why we lost but its just not of the necessary quality never mind for the top 6 but potentially even as Championship midfielders. Buckley dawdles on the ball, that nearly cost us first half and he just doesnt have the speed of thought to play on the half turn. He also regularly just plays it into touch, often unforced. He does the odd bit of neat and tidy play but especially as a deeper midfielder he isnt up to it. Forshaw I thought was better than Buckley but still not good enough. Some of Gueye's hold up really was very impressive but he doesnt bust a gut to get into the box, he just admires his initial work. He lacks that strikers instinct. I think a lot of his hold up was wasted by a lack of pace and quality around him though.
  22. Terrible first half, huffed and puffed in tbe second before the inevitable sucker punch. Midfield is a big issue, Buckley is terrible, nowhere near up to it. Forshaw was marginally better but obviously isnt good enough. Gueye did some really good hold up yet again but its wasted without any pace or quality around him. Obviously didnt score again and when he lays it off he doesnt show enough urgency to get into goalscoring positions. But overall another display to build on. Dolan needs to be sold, Weimann invisible aside from his goal which sums him up really, he at least has the knack of getting into goalscoring positions. Not impressed by Sanderson who is rash and poor on the ball. Subs made too late, a good run and cross from ACD aside, little impact. Obviously need players but even with them, for all the talk about its ONLY about quality, it feels like we have forfeited a number of games and we will just drop down into a bunch of mid table teams that we arent far from.
  23. Can see why he didnt last long as a manager.
  24. Really poor performance and lucky and grateful to be drawing. Buckley has been really bad, hasnt got the ability to take the ball on the half turn. Forshaw a passenger. Sanderson hasnt impressed me at all, terrible on the ball and a walking red card. Pears poor for the goal but great save at the end.
