  1. It is a tough position to break through in that if you are a young attacking player, they can be dipped in through cameos at the end of games whereas as a centre back you are going to play the whole game. We have been linked again with Harness at Portsmouth, no doubt rubbish seeing as we don't have a manager or director of football but I thought I would put it in here: https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/portsmouth-transfer-gossip-blues-in-battle-with-derby-sunderland-and-hibs-for-hull-winger-as-blackburn-lead-marcus-harness-race-and-league-two-trio-show-kieron-freeman-interest-3698973 Edit: Just to prove its a load of nonsense, I think it came from this account. Imagine having enough spare time to create an account trying to generate attention by making up fake transfer news:
  2. He is 16/17, he might be physically imposing for his age but again, that's the limitations of judging a kid playing with and against kids, its all relative and its a world away from the demands of second tier professional League football. I am sure that he is indeed highly rated (although you cannot possibly say THE best in the country in his position at that age even if you have consulted some fellow analysts/scouts) but maybe he would be better suited getting regular football out on loan next season. You once suggested that there was no difference between Butterworth (I think, apologies if it was Rankin Costello) and Hudson-Odoi, and that there was no difference between Lewis Thompson and Brandon Williams but that it was a case of people having a perception that kids at bigger clubs are bound to be better as a result, which clearly is untrue. But you say that we would be delighted to bring in a Man United player on loan of a similar ilk, how many centre backs at Phillips' age have we brought in on loan, thats nonsense. You look at the centre backs that we have loaned in, a 21 year old with 40 appearances in the Dutch league and a 21 year old with 30 appearances in the Championship, no untested 16/17 year old centre backs.
  3. Big statement to make. Firstly, "widely regarded" by who? Where has this come from? Also, he is playing with and against kids, its not directly comparable to senior football. Maybe he should go out and play a full season in League 2, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting someone so young in at this moment, as much as I am sure that he has talent, especially at centre back.
  4. He definitely isn't perfect but he is a solid Championship defender and we would only get worse on a free/loan.
  5. If Lenihan stays and the new manager plans to play a back 4 then you may be right, but we can't classify 2 total rookies as viable options at the moment. Maybe Barnes needs loaning out.
  6. Rich Sharpe is clearly not the most proactive of journalists but for him to categorically state that there have been no interviews is seemingly more credible than yourself saying that Carvalhal and a mystery second manager have been at Brockhall in cars with black tinted windows, with a series of other posters then copying and saying that they have also heard the same! You did say earlier this season that Mowbray had an over 90% chance of becoming West Brom manager and within hours, Bruce had been officially announced! What sort of mystery source revealed this info? Can't argue with the notion that not everyone in the club is on the same page, that is evident from history under Venkys and seemingly is not set to improve under such inept owners. Should but hasn't been across the last 12 years unfortunately. Those "deadbeat coaching staff" can't be in the main pinned on Mowbray either, the likes of Lowe, Benson etc I think all were here prior to Mowbray with only Venus brought in by him.
  7. I'm not so sure, against Villa I can see City scoring early and winning comfortably as they often do.
  8. Rich Sharpe certainly is not the most proactive of journalists but he has more credibility than Mercer with his constant misinformation and on this occasion, the stream of posters echoing that premature rumour as soon as it was posted by him. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/20147735.blackburn-rovers-new-manager-search/
  9. Glad to read that it is as simple as merely showing Ayala the door, I had feared that his constant injuries coupled with presumably being on a reasonable wage relatively speaking would make him difficult to shift, but seemingly not. We will no doubt have to pad the squad with loanees again, I would be amazed if anything more than peanuts available from the Brereton funds and we have the further disadvantage that (unless you believe the phantom interview rumours) that our managerial search will drag on and not only will other out of contract players be cherry picked by our rivals, but the likes of Lenihan and Nyambe could very well likely move elsewhere too. No point assuming that any of the under 23 squad will break through, needs to be seen as a bonus rather than an expectation. The likes of Vale, McBride, Brown, Garrett, Phillips etc, you have players there who struggled at really low levels out on loan or are still in their infancy, some might need loans but either way we cant plug gaps with these players without at least some indication that they are ready. The opening day lineup is far too early to predict at this stage.
  10. Equally regarding your assertion that we have interviewed people, says who?
  11. Hes had 2 jobs. His first he struggled in, his second he has done well in. Hence why "tinpot" is not a balanced description.
  12. My point was that if our first choice right back was out, id trust Carter there more than Rankin Costello or Brown. Ideally we would sign 2 right backs. Also mid game that versatility could also be handy.
  13. His versatility is a bonus, if we play with a back 4 Carter has I think at times played as a right back at Pompey as well as in a back 3. He also featured for us earlier in the season notably at Forest. Unless we sign 2 right backs inclusive of a potential Nyambe deal, he may get game in either position with Rankin Costello well off the standard and Brown in need of a loan.
  14. Take the point about draws, teams like Ukraine, Colombia, Sweden and Denmark arent the very best but they are all still very respectable teams with good players that even as the favourite, a manager deserves credit for beating all 4, and Germany are of a similar standard and we beat them too. Hence why "awful" is well over the top.
  15. Not necessarily convinced that he can win a tournament or that he is an elite manager, but to get to a semi final and final even with a good crop of players especially considering our tournament history is an achievement and suggests that your criticism is hyperbolic, similar to when you rated Mowbray's tenure here as "1/10."
  16. His record isnt too shabby for England, a semi final and a final is probably not "tinpot."
  17. Twitter today is full of Rovers fans messaging what seems to be his mum pleading with him to stay.
  18. Mystery sources and mystery darkened windowed vehicles. On top of a track record as poor as anyones, surely only the most desperate and gullible will choose take over leave!
  19. A player with 8 goals in 160 appearances for a poor Bristol City, struggling to get into their team recently and subsequently being released? And you expect top 6? Always looked crap to me.
  20. Luton have had a cracking season, everytime I have seen them though Bell has been the weak link and looked very similar to the shit show he was here.
  21. Why would you assume that the only think preventing a quick appointment would be employment elsewhere? Also that rules Farke out.
  22. Huddersfield have been most dangerous down Bell's side and Rhodes has got on his blind side to score potentially the winner.
  23. I dont think Cooper is only "half decent." Mowbray was certainly decent, Cooper's Championship record is excellent.
