  1. Further clarity on the sell on not affecting the budget.
  2. Have Bolton been dishonest, ie did they only put that detail in the small print? Although there was an obvious uncertainty for anyone buying a season ticket. But yeah I agree with our structure. The price rise was ill informed and the release far too late.
  3. We dont know the success of the signing of Kaminski yet. Im just surprised that we seem destined to make only one signing from Europe. If he turns out to be a succese lets hope he is the first of many.
  4. Absolute rubbish. The current structure would have sufficed, whereby the details were very much in the main statement and not in the small print.
  5. The structure of ours is the correct one. Had we put them on sale earlier and without a price rise, sales would have gone up and wouldnt have had to be paid back. Im not sure if Bolton offered immediate refunds, did they?
  6. They always let you pay monthly, thats hardly them going the extra mile. And the proportion of the season ticket that is free as a result of buying at all at once is far less than normal. But surely you can accept that putting prices UP at a point when people are struggling financially and the product is weaker and more uncertain is senseless. Factor in putting them on sale so late and you have the piss poor sales figures we have seen.
  7. There were 2 major things that the club and Waggott could control, when they released them and for how much. So late and with a price rise were 2 poorly thought out decisions.
  8. You should have seen the celebrations in my house when we lost to Newcastle but had plenty of possession.
  9. Didnt you say last week that you wanted Cullen from West Ham?
  10. I would have to say that I agree on prioritising fixtures. Ultimately he would argue that it worked but there is no need to be doing that. One thing that is quite ironic is how Allardyce is stereotypically seen as old fashioned and behind the time, when indeed with the prozone, analysis and even looking at other sports in terms of sports science, he was actually part of the way football was revolutionised around that time. Obviously it is usually put down to foreign coaches like Wenger and Vialli. Although I hate Burnley, I am happy to defend Dyche for his style. But if I was a Burnley fan, heaven forbid, my biggest criticism would be at how he dealt with a very rare chance at them qualifying for Europe.
  11. They have definitely upgraded on Paterson in Kieffer Moore, Paterson wouldnt have played anyway. Sheffield Wednesday have signed a strange mix of strikers. They have Rhodes who still is not particularly in favour despite being not only an actual striker but having already scored on opening day. Paterson is a strange utility man striker who I am unsure if he will ever be prolific. Elias Kachunga who always really played wide for Huddersfield and never replicated his first impressive season 4 or 5 years ago and Windass who Wigan fans were not fond of and again is not an out and out striker. Wednesday have a bit of a strange side. They might well survive even with the 12 points deduction due to the lack of quality down there though.
  12. Hopefully they go back to a sense of normality, never understood why our fans have spent so much time gloating at their expense considering the seriousness of their plight.
  13. Agreed. Ultimately money/resources may mean we have to compromise on the number of recruits we make but we cant allow ourselves to get too carried away from a couple of admittedly exciting wins: - Bell did pretty well on Saturday, maybe he can be our left back in our new style? No, hes been useless throughout his career. - Dolan has been a breath of fresh air, he is a key player? He is important at the moment, but we cant expect too much from him across the season. - Rothwell looked really good in central midfield, we dont need a central midfielder now? Even if he maintains it which we dont know, we will need options there. - Brereton had a bright game, surely hes a shoe in? Until he starts scoring goals, there will always be a question mark. Theres plenty to be excited about, but they will need some help.
  14. As I have said before, transfers we miss out on are of no interest to us. I judge the manager on who he gets over the line. I did mention covid and a low budget but I am just saying that we seemingly will only make the one foreign signing. Ayala is a signing I am happy with regardless of where he last played, but it is hardly the yield of foreign recruits that was made out at the start of the window. I just think for 3 positions in possibly the most physically demanding area of the side with the additional fixture load. We have the 3 who played at the weekend. The forever injured Evans, Buckley who has yet to fully establish himself and Davenport who has never started a game. If we can get a bit of additional quality in there, then great. We are also yet to know if Rothwell can maintain these standards in a position he hasnt really played for us before across the course of a season. Ayala was on a free, I presume you are equally dismissive of why he was on a free?! I was just saying that it would be totally senseless from a clubs point of view to give us a keeper to warm our bench. I am sure if it was our player going to sit on someone elses bench your viewpoint may change.
  15. Absolutely, and equally, when Mowbray has made selections of players who he seemingly trusts, eg Bennett at full back, Gallagher out wide, and things dont work out, then he deserves the criticism he has previously received for this decisions.
  16. There are one or two exceptions who have cooked up a senseless conspiracy that the manager is purposely avoiding a potential promotion. Clearly that makes zero sense. But Mowbray does have/has had his favourites, or has done, just like a large proportion of managers. Bennett was being actively chosen fairly regularly out of position just because "he takes the plan out onto the pitch" up until half way through last season, when that thankfully stopped. Gallagher was also repeatedly and unsuccessfully played out wide ad nauseum. Mulgrew and Smallwood were given a chance in the Championship, although were removed far quicker than the above too, so far less scope for criticism there.
  17. Its never been something that I can understand that to be honest. If we win, I am happy on Saturday evening, if we lose, I am gutted. I dont ever remember any exceptions. Unfathomable to me personally that you could see Rovers win a game and come off feeling anything but joyous. I get that there is the entertainment factor but for me it only because an issue when you are losing games. With Big Sam, there was a short term necessity to stay up, with an under funded squad and a needs must mentality. Going off on a tangent, I think that there is an unprecedented amount of snobbery these days in regards to styles offootball. If a manager does not embrace playing out from the back, although passing it across the defence is hardly exhilarating, the manager is behind the times apparently. Going off on a tangent, but ask someone about Dyches Burnley v maybe Potters Brighton, one is a boring Northern snooze-fest and one is a modern, forward thinking approach. Media perceptions aside, Burnley scored more goals and finished higher up. The current style is one that I can get behind but more so because it suits the squad we have rather than anything else, if there was an alternative that could get more points, I would prefer that.
  18. Gallagher definitely should be a sub option in the central role but I am sure that he will play on the right at some point sadly.
  19. Yeah he retired. Not sure they have an alternative/back up for Digne.
  20. Yeah he looked very promising. Only thing I would say is that he wasnt testes much defensively and has little experience. Would he help to keep the goals out? But he looked good in the cup games I watched. Ideally even if it is on loan id prefer a more experienced option, Cunningham being the ideal example. Another question might be if Everton would let him go out on loan. Baines has left and they might be short of options beyond Digne. I understand what you are saying, a starting left back has to be a priority. If possible though a midfielder would be ideal as I am not sure that we have enough. We have the 3 currently doing the job, although Rothwell could be needed further forward at times and Holtby has had injury issues. Evans will be a welcome return but again he has injury problems. Buckley good to have around. Not much faith in Davenport it seems. In an ideal world we could get one more in there if the budget allows after a LB and GK. I dont really subscribe to the theory that signing players blocks the path of those we already have. If Buckley and co have the quality there is no reason that they cant play regularly either way, especially with games coming thick and fast.
  21. There is no reason why if Buckley is ready, that he couldnt break through even with an additional midfielder to be fair. We have Johnson and Holtby, who has had injury problems, and Rothwell who is also needed wide left. Then Evans to come back who of course is injury prone, and with Travis out for a few months, I think we are one light in there.
  22. There is no link to him and I am not suggesting that we sign him but did anyone watch the 2 Everton League cup games on TV in recent weeks? They had a very impressive young left back called Niels Nkonkou who put more crosses in 2 games than our full backs have under Mowbray full stop. Signed from Marseille B Team. It would be a huge question over whether he could demand, he was playing Salford and Fleetwood so he got to show his attacking sidee but though it is worth a mention.
  23. I struggle to totally seperate performance and results to be honest. I didnt overly enjoy the Bournemouth and Newcastle performances because we lost, the former was quite even and the latter was a game where much of our possession was not in harmful positions, I didnt feel that we really battered the door down. The main enjoyment from the last 2 has been the thrashings handed out. The style was key but the main thing was watching us win so convincingly. It is difficult not to get carried away with 2 thrashings but it is far too early to be making such hyperbolic statements I think. That being said, there are certainly quite a few things to be cautiously optimistic about. In terms of the style, nothing is more entertaining than seeing Rovers win. The reason that I like the current style is, perhaps with a few tweaks at times, it suits many of the players we have.
  24. A solitary player from Europe would undoubtedly be an underwhelming return from a scouting network Of course covid may have affected things and also I appreciate that you dont sign foreign players to justify it, ie Ayala is someone I am very happy with. Doesnt sound like we are close or actively chasing any signings and indeed the amount of players that we want has dropped by a further one. I just hope that we havent gained a false sense of security based on the 2 wins. Bell had arguably his best game for us on Saturday but we know long term that he isnt up to it, we need a first choice LB, not competition. We also could do with another midfielder really, Davenport has never started a game and Buckley is nice to have around but we could do with a more ready made alternative, especially as we have big demands on the central midfield and scope for Rothwell to play further forward. I dont see why any sane club would loan us a keeper to sit on the bench, surely thats a job for a freebie.
