  1. But we dont know if Jack Vale having played about 20 minutes of League football is ready to play an important part for a team at the (hopefully) top end of the Championship. If he comes through then great of course but theres no rush and its risky to assume that he is ready. Ultimately I appreciate that other positions are more pressing but if we had any money left I wouldnt mind some genuine competition for Armstrong. Gallagher is average at best really and Brereton not even that. Weve got plenty of young players which is good but a more experienced attacker would be welcome if possible and maybe loan Vale and/or Butterworth out and see if they get some goals at a lower level. Are either out and out strikers anyway?
  2. I actually think that in many ways, his price tag goes in his favour too. The fact that we were all full of praise over 2 performances post lockdown in which he did a few tidy dribbles, but the only time he got near goal, he slipped on his arse, said it all. We are so depserate to see something from him that we cling onto any slither of hope. Ultimately in 2 years he has 1 goal in each season, both of which were in end of season dead rubbers. Its not an immediate expectation thing. He has looked well, well off the standard so far. You also mention his inability to deal with pressure but its not as if he was tearing it up at Forest, by the end he couldnt make their matchday 18. Gallagher did actually play plenty down the middle too last season. People refer to his first season here as if he was hindered by Coyle but that was by far the best season of his career and it was a 1 goal ever 4 game type season. He should be second choice striker behind Armstrong but he wont get the number of goals you need to challenge at the top. Absolutely. Unfortunately I suspect it is going to remain untouched as a result of the imbalances elsewhere in the squad but whilst I am happy to see youngsters get a chance, ideally we could have a more senior option in there aswell. I feel a bit uncomfortable if we are too reliant on youngsters coming through (ones with a small cameo in the league each) because we dont know if they are ready yet, and obviously Gallagher and Brereton have underperformed. It should almost be a bonus if one (or both) of Vale and Butterworth have a breakthrough season, we shouldnt be reliant on them at this stage.
  3. As a season ticket holder, I think I have the right to my opinions and will continue to share them, regardless of whether you feel that I have the right to. You said you are either in or youre out. If having a season ticket, attending away games where possible but declining to pay Blackpool 6 quid to watch a friendly makes me "out" then that is your opinion. Even if you are a fan who pays hundreds of pounds a year to support Rovers as I do, it doesnt mean that you cant criticise the pricing or indeed refrain from paying. Maybe you are sitting on much more money than me and go to all 46 games, friendlies, cup games, under 23 games, the lot. I didnt go to some away games last year due to cost. If they put season tickets up to 5 grand I wouldnt go, there is not unlimited price elasticity. Tonights price hasnt even been set by and indeed wont be received by Rovers anyway. My "judging" of the owners is like many others based on their negligence, their strange ways of working and the fact that they have ground us down over the last decade to an imitation of the club they bought. Finance is well down the list of gripes. I have repeatedly said that I understand that this summer will be tight financially but my criticism was always based on their typical dallying. Thats all I will say on the matter.
  4. I dont think Dyche told his players that they had no chance of surviving when they first came up. Thats the bit that would be hard to swallow. The problem is that feel people seem to think the only 2 options are wreckless gambles on big earners or accepting relegation before youve kicked a ball.
  5. “He needs another two or three weeks and then maybe we can arrange some games behind closed doors for him. “Another month, six weeks, maybe he’ll be back into the team.” So in 3 weeks he can fully train and start playing friendlies etc. That Forest game is in close to 8 weeks, and Mowbray said in a month to 6 weeks, maybe he can be back in the team. Hardly an unrealistic ambition.
  6. I think he will only miss potentially 4 games, then there is a 2 game break before the Forest game at Home on the 17th October. Which is the weekend Preston have mentioned getting fans in all being well. Sadly Rovers have been dismal with communication as always but it would be great if there was a possibility of fans allowed back in, and Dack back for that game, I think you might be dreaming with that second sentence sadly! Seems like we cannot afford especially Kipre.
  7. Sounds like we are very tight financially. Hopefully more than just Kaminski will come in this week. The problem now if we sign Downing is that he will have missed pre season.
  8. Apparently because they communicated that they had totally written off any chance of survival and thus enjoying the reward of what they had earnt prior to the season that they did the right thing. Totally illogical and against the spirit of the game.
  9. Like I said, I am not sure that the inferiority complex necessarily fits here, not without all of the information or knowledge of all of the rules. Seems that because it is not an individual and is the whole team going to play a match or matches, it is ok. Harry Kane is England captain and he has had to isolate, surely he would get special treatment if it was a case of that? Either way, even if it turns out that Liverpool have got special treatment, it doesnt change that Kaminski will need to isolate.
  10. To be fair, Harry Kane had to miss Saturdays game for Tottenham to isolate so that doesnt fit that theory as surely the England captain would be exempt if anyone! Maybe there is a genuine reason or loophole.
  11. Cant see a team loaning us a keeper to sit on the bench. Suspect an experienced freebie is the best bet. Maybe someone like Rob Elliott? Someone competent because obviously weve taken a worthwile and calculated gamble going for Kaminski but if it doesnt work as well as we hope, at least we have a competent alternative. Ive no idea then. Either way, Kaminski will need to isolate, thats the key. And Ive no idea, presumably all local reporters ask the same question of other managers. Ultimately I dont care. Our manager specifically repeated that he didnt know his budget, so theres scope for questioning until he does know. Plus I presume you are being purposely naive but this is Venkys we are dealing with. They always take ages sorting out the budget.
  12. I think to be fair, he replied numerous times to people saying that he could just not get anything back from either Mowbray or Waggott, who then went on holiday. Waggott seemingly still hasnt fed anything back on, well any issue at all. Because he seemingly is not remotely within our budget.
  13. Is Austria a country that requires a 2 week quarantine? Not saying whats fair and whats not fair, just that it seems certain that Kaminski will need to quarantine. As I said, seems illogical that there was ever anything in the Whiteman rumour.
  14. The Whiteman rumour doesnt add up, we apparently cant afford a 7 figure fee, and Whiteman would cost over 2m. It seems only in the last week that we have become active.
  15. A minority of people (who are wrong to expect that) want the actual budget publically released. Most criticism was about the usual delays because of Venkys and that Mowbray didnt know his budget. Harry Kane was denied an exemption so I dont think weve got a chance. Unsure on the rules regarding Liverpool but presume it is different because the whole squad has gone together, or maybe because of where they have gone, is it Austria?
  16. Obviously its Blackpool running it but you would almost certainly be able to buy a ticket for less should the game have not been behind closed doors!
  17. As an aside, how tiresome have transfer windows now become! Not even the ITK wannabes which have always existed, its the repeated "Announce Kaminski" messages under every tweet and status, and people tracking player movements. Look at the below regarding Arsenal who are signing Gabriel from Lille. People have been done for stalking for less.
  18. I suspect that we will sign someone not mentioned again. Rich Sharpe is very much behind in terms of never breaking stories and Nixons wild swings at Hofmann/McLaughlin/Iversen/Muric etc all turned out to be rubbish. Kaminski has just come out of nowhere. Not only would Kipres price have to drop dramatically but it would also require no one else to show interest even at a reduced price. Im not sure either havw even the slimmest chance of happening even if we do indeed have a strong interest. Cant see the Schmidt deal at all either. Recently given a long term deal by Werder Bremen and midway through a 2 year loan. Hopefully we are well on with our business because we could do with getting players bedded in. We had to start last season with Mulgrew, Bell and Bennett in defence because we couldnt get our business done soon enough. We cant afford to wait until close to the deadline to get the rest of the deals done.
  19. True, but I suspect the fee would have to drop a lot, and surely teams who can offer more will still beat us to it. Not sure he is Premier League worthy at this stage, would have been a good signing for us but on a tight budget I suspect we may have to look elsewhere. Hopefully we can get someone in before the weekend, although I would be pleasantly surprised.
  20. Suggested in the Lancashire Telegraph that Kipre is too dear because we cant afford 7 figure fees.
  21. Find it a little strange considering he is a 27 goalkeeper so coming into his supposed peak in the next few years and also for a player costing a fee coming from abroad that we are signing him initially on only a 2 year deal. Lets hope we get our arses in gear and get some other transfers wrapped up this week. With only 2 further weeks after this week until the new season and with the added curveball if any foreign signings needing to isolate.
  22. By thinking outside the box, I mean with limited funds, signing a player for a very low fee would rarely be enough to get you a top 6 quality Championship player if sourced from England. Exceptions of course exist. Not that we know if Kaminski is or not. But my point is, for what youd get for a few hundred grand in England, probably an unwanted player or someone from the lower leagues, it is perhaps worth risking a purchase from overseas, picking the best of the free agent market or if all else fails, getting a maximum of one or two high quality loans.
  23. Honestly @chaddyrovers as a big fan of football as I know you are, you are missing out on some top quality players and some fascinating games. Tonight probably wasnt the best example (finals are often like that) but even then it was very watchable. And Neymar was crying at the end. No sweeter sight.
  24. So we should purposely aim to sign players who havent previously shown that they are capable of performing at the level we need? Im not saying that players either well down the pecking order and nowhere near the first team at Championship clubs who finished lower than us (Lindsay, Moore, Van Aken) or League 1 players (Willis and Moore) would definitely be bad signings, there are exceptions and sometimes reasons why they are where they are but I think it would be fair to be personally underwhelmed should any of those players be the answer to replacing Adarabioyo. Should the likes of Ayala and Van Der Hoorn be unobtainable (players with proven track record) or maybe Lockyer at a push then I would suggest that Mowbray would be best served thinking outside the box slightly. As he seems to have done with the goalkeeper. Whether that is a success ot a failure, only time will tell. As an aside, quite a few people on this messageboard wanted Ajayi here last year. Nelson has done really well at Cardiff who treat organisation and defending with much more priority and respect than Mowbray does here. Thats going to be the key. Its going to take some pragmatism from Mowbray. And White, all I can say is that Bielsa is a genius! I hope we get in a defender or 2 this week to give them time to bed in. Also a shame that Kaminski will be unable to train until a few days before the Bournemouth game.
