  1. Shocking, embarassing performance. Can see Armstrong going this summer. I wouldnt stay if I was him. Carter so far out of his depth its untrue. And Rankin Costellos crossing is dismal. Gallagher with a nice goal as a striker. Hopefully he will revert back to being a winger next year. And the decision to bring on Bennett rather than the winger. We arent making progress. We are confused, brittle, feeble and imbalanced. We need a new manager and a new direction. Stagnation is the key word here.
  2. No chance does he get the Burnley job. If they appointed him considering where they are, theyd be crazy.
  3. Why Fulham? Money on them? Cant see past West Brom with their fixture and advantage. Fulham a long shot.
  4. I dont think that Mowbray necessarily can do anything about the ridiculous ways in which Venkys neglectfully ignore their supposed precious club. But the fact that you call it "nagging" of a manager asking the owners of the budget within a reasonable time frame is scandulous. As we know, our manager has to suck up to the owners to keep his job which im sure Mowbray will do and understandbly so. Thats not even a criticism of him. If Mourinho had to wait weeks and weeks whilst Levy continued to ignore his club and usually would insist on the manager travelling to India beforehand then I suspect that things may be different.
  5. We dont know, hes never played for long enough to judge.
  6. He can be as big as he wants to be if he comes on and sets up the winner with a cross like that.
  7. These valuations are fairly meaningless out of context. The question that you would ask is, would teams be interested in these players that could afford these players? Considering the financial situation caused by the pandemic, I suspect that only Premier League teams would be able to pay decent money for players. Maybe at a push teams being relegated, but even then, Norwich for example barely spend pre-pandemic and of course with Premier League money. Maybe scope for teams like Villa and Bournemouth assuming they come down and lose a few but even then, would they come straight to us and our players? Unconvinced. And would they be desperate to move to a side in the same League? Probably for a pay rise. Dack is the most consistently proven but is no longer considered "young" and is also not yet back fit from serious injury. So I am unconvinced if there will be much interest in him. Armstrong as a young, English, pacy striker, maybe. But could I see him starting/regularly featuring in the Premier League? Possibly not. And he has only been scoring regularly for half a season People put Lenihan and Sheffield United together considering rumoured interest from a while ago. But Lenihan is certainly not suited to playing as an overlapping wing back, and Sheffield United now have Egan as that middle CB and have obviously developed massively as a club. Can I see them coming in for Lenihan at that level, probably to be a sub? Not really. He is critical to us but perhaps partly because he is our only proper CB. Travis, developing player, young, British. One for Premier League teams to be massively interested in at this time? Not sure he would. And Nyambe is a very good prospect, not long left on his contract. Out of the 5 he possibly has the longest to go in terms of development, at this moment is he a stand out Championship RB? Not sure. Needs to improve his attacking side. Chaddy keeps mentioning Palace, theyve just signed Ferguson from WBA so thats a non starter. 5 good players and I am sure if we made them readily available we would get interest but I am not sure if the market/demand is there at this present moment, all things considered, and if it is, I find it very difficult to assign fees because it all depends who the players would be going to.
  8. What do you think my point is? The main thing that I am trying to say is that he has only been given minimal time spread across a few tiny cameos. Thats not even my opinion, thats a fact. My opinion is that he hasnt been given nearly enough time considering that he is actually a wide men and the players often given games there are not and are totally ineffective. You have seen him moping apparently, I have seen all of his cameos and ultimately hes barely had any time to mope. The one before Saturday was when he was brought on at 2 down at Barnsley with 10 minutes to go, when we had 10 men. No I know, but again from minimal time, that contribution is more than the likes of Gallagher, who isnt a winger, has managed from an attacking perspective all season supplying the forward. I dont think that he is the saviour, and I would prefer natural width to be brought in, but id much rather play Chapman than a striker uncomfortably "doing a job." I am not going to allow second hand reviews of games for the kids and speculation about his training performance really affect my opinion. Especially because it revolves not around Chapman, but the merits of playing a winger and avoiding playing Gallagher and co there every week with no success.
  9. Its easy, because hes barely been on the pitch to mope. Im basing my opinion on first team games which is the only place that it ultimately matters. Who thinks or has said that he is a world beater? You mention that cross that he did, plus he put another one on a plate a couple of minutes later after beating a couple of players. It may well be nothing extraordinary but it is natural wide play that is sorely lacking when Mowbray goes for his usual option of having Sam Gallagher plodding up and down offering nothing there.
  10. I dont understand how you have seen him moping around considering that hes had such little game time spread across a few inconsequential cameos. Nor how you can judge a lack of productivity considering how little hes spent on the pitch. Ultimately the landscape has changed now because in a very small cameo, he made 2 major contributions including a superb assist therefore has probably trumped that of Gallagher from that position spread across runs of regular starts in that position.
  11. You think we should sign him, or you think we are signing him? On the face of it, cast off by Millwall after mainly being a sub in his time there. We have Armstrong, Dack, Holtby, Rothwell, Rankin Costello, Chapman, Gallagher, Brereton etc in attacking areas so seems a little unless hes an out and out winger. Suspect you know more than most considering his national team. What sort of player is he? Any good?
  12. Whereas you are just essentially Mowbray's echo chamber! The doomsday scenarios that Mercer loves to mention are tiresome but its just the opposite of yourself. It works both ways.
  13. Why is your reaction to me pointing out that Chapman offered more in 15 minutes for the first team, ie where it matters, than Gallagher has from that position all season. To harp back to when he played for the kids? Because I would like to see him from the start given a decent run. Its the perfect opportunity, we know what Holtby gives us, we know what Rothwell gives us (well, when the season is all but over and he starts contributing!) lets give Chapman a start, if he impresses, great news, if he doesnt and hes petulant or hes half arsed or whatever, then fair enough. Does Chapman do that? I dont get how such a conclusion can be gathered from the 4 or 5 10-15 first team cameos hes had? A player who works hard but is totally ineffective, as Gallagher and co are in that (uncomfortable) position, then they are of no use and their work rate becomes pretty worthless on its own.
  14. Like I said, I can only judge on what I see on the pitch. Having had to watch Gallagher plodding up and down that wing ineffectively for most of the season, as well as Brereton and Samuel on occasion with equal ineffectiveness, my point has always been that as flawed as Chapman may be, in the absence of signing a competent wide man, he was worth a go because these wide strikers do not work. He came on v Reading and did more good out wide than Gallagher and co have done all season. I saw that with my own eyes, a brilliant assist and an excellent run and cross a bit later. Therefore I want to see him again out wide, whereas if I see Gallaghee wide again I might tear any hair out that I have left. If it doesnt work out, obviously both Chapman and Mowbray will deserve blame and criticism, lets hope it doesnt come to that. Has he applied himself, has he been given enough trust or chances, we can speculate, if it doesnt work, its another black mark against the managers transfer record.
  15. I would disagree totally on Bennett in CM. Evans is far tidier in possession and less clumsy. Bennett did a job for that solitary game v Shrewsbury but otherwise hes not got the intelligence or ability to play there. I also think that Travis and Evans record speaks for itself. Regarding Buckley, there would be no point sending him lower than League 1 in my opinion.
  16. Absolutely. We know from in League 1 quite how effective he can be and I though on Saturday his impact was really positive. The cross was superb for the goal and also the run a bit later was superb. Not only did he beat a couple of players and get out of a tight corner, he looked up and played a great ball in again which Nyambe was about to have a shot from before Gallagher got in his way. If it doesnt work out for Chapman either then we can speculate on how much the player and how much the manager are to blame but it would be another stain on Mowbrays transfer record. But even in a 15 minute cameo he was more effective as a winger than Gallagher or Brereton have been, out of position to defend them, all season. No one expects Chapman to be amazing but hes something totally different to the ineffective wide play weve seen this season.
  17. Davenport should start on Wednesday but I believe that from the start of next season that Evans should come back in. He has his limits and is prone to injury but he dovetails with Travis and our win success with them 2 in midfield is very impressive. I think personally that a loan would suit Buckley and then potentially get him back either after half a season or a full one ready to make a much better push for a first team place in a more attacking role.
  18. That could lead to teams stock piling youngsters rather than letting them leave ideally on loan to get game time, helping their development and also the teams they are loaned too. I think the 4th and 5th sub further dilute the quality of a game, when half of the team is made of subs.
  19. Evans compliments Travis really well. Buckley has rarely played in that position, but when he has he has failed to exert himself as he has in all but one game in more advanced areas. Im sure that he will improve in time as hes very young but I am unconvinced that long term he will play so deep.
  20. But from what you have seen, would you have Buckley in the central midfield of a Championship side? Over say Corry Evans? Loans arent good for every player but it depends on various factors, the likelihood of gametime, the position and the likely destination, if they can play regularly in League 1 then its a good indicator, the further down, the less meaningful it is. I think he looks like more of an attacking midfielder, any doubts over physicality increase ten fold if you push him back and he seems more of a progressive player rather than someone to dictate from deep. Sadly for him, we have Dack and Holtby ahead of him, and of course players like Brereton and Gallagher wanting to play central due to an inability to play out wide. Surely rather than drip feeding minutes here and there, unlike with Rankin Costello, there isnt a natural opening within our squad for him to potentially establish himself. He could learn to impose himself on games if he went out on loan despite his physical disadvantages.
  21. The reason that I describe talk of him being a "special talent" as hyperbolic is not not even based on the fact that it is hearsay at this moment in time. It is because it is a quote seemingly based around his performances in training and playing against fellow kids. We can only judge on what we see ourselves in the first team. What I have seen personally is a player with an obvious ability to pick the ball up on the turn, a tidy player who wants to run at players, but one who as of yet has only managed to impress me personally on one occasion away at Charlton. I will be reserving any talk of him being a special talent until he has shown it at first team level where it matters. Maybe the staff do see him eventually as becoming "an 8" as I dont profess to being ITK. Considering the glimpses of the strengths he has, and also his obvious physical limitations, I would be surprised to see him there any time soon. He played as a central midfielder in his cameos last year and also when we went to 3 at the back (v Milwall??) this year and looked a little lost. Obviously he has played much of his game wide where again he couldnt get involved. Based on what I have seen from him and the alternatives in the position he has impressed most in, I personally would loan him out to a League 1 side and should he stand out there, then bring him back and go from tbrre.
  22. As I said, theres not much weight held by U23 performances and supposed whispers from how much players are rated. To describe him as "top drawer" is hyperbolic at this point. To get into his natural position he has a few players to get past to get any game time. It makes sense for him out of all of our youngsters to go out, considering that his lack of physicality has made him stand out as slightly out of his depth on a few occasions. With Rankin Costello, we dont have many wide players so there is scope for him to break in. And theres his versatility although I would be reluctant to making him into a second Elliott Bennett. With Carter, again we are short of centre backs.
  23. Who is they? As in believing that he is the "real deal."
  24. Its mainly about being able to afford them. If you are signing a set of loans like that, the combined loan fees and wages will be above our budget, plus also very much a sunk cost at the end of the season unless they take you up, so its high risk. I think a more reasonable strategy is to sign a couple of loans only.
