If we bring in Buckley for Tronstad then it is a considerable downgrade. We unfortunately lack width as we havent sufficiently recruited players who can provide it. -
"He is doing his best with what he has available" is a cop out. His tactics continuously are leading to Spurs conceding far too many goals and hes too stubborn to change it regardless of player availability and as a result they are doing poorly. I think with Palmer there is more blame to be attached although even then it was at a time when De Bruyne was still fit and firing and Foden was the player of the season in the Premier League. Rogers wouldnt be doing what he is now had he stayed at City. Porro likewise although he isnt THAT good anyway.

Tracking our (outbound) loan players 24/25

The burden of proof here is not on me. There is no evidence that Markanday is a Championship standard player or anything close. He has also barely if ever played centrally and even in League 2 seems to have been played wide still where he is being productive at a level that perhaps suits him more. You seem to be basing it on under 23 games from years ago where even then from what you say he didnt specifically play centrally, he just drifted there. I just dont think hes close to being a Champipnship standard player. -

JRC has had those 2 strong performances with ACD in front of him and that move to a back 3 tends to be more when Pickering is at left back rather than Beck who is more attacking. I am basing Buckley's poor attitude on his demenaour whenever he gets on the pitch but either way he isnt up to it and Baker should play. -
Spurs keep leaking goals because Postecoglu will not move away from his high risk, naive style of football and as a direct result, results have been poor and they are massively underachieving. And as results continue to be poor, he responds publically by being more and more of a knobhead to anyone who dares question him. I dont think City can be criticised too much for letting Rogers go, had he stayed then he wouldnt be where he is now as it has taken him a few years working his way up when he wouldnt have been close to the City side. Porro likewise and he is defensively not the best. Palmer is obviously the one who got away but he seemingly pushed for a move and Alvarez went for a huge fee.

You have for a long while implied that Markanday could be a Champipnship standard attacking midfielder and I cant for the life of me understand what has drawn you to that conclusion. -

Pears JRC Hyam Batth Beck Tronstad Baker ACD Cantwell Weimann Gueye The left hand side and the striker are obviously big areas where we need to improve and it feels like any could play there and I wouldnt be very confident that they will do anything. -

Surely Baker over Buckley, the latter isnt good enough and has a poor attitude it seems. JRC has been good since he came into the team and I also think ACD needs to start. -
I wonder if Pep regrets signing a new deal. A lot is put down to Rodri's absence and obviously it is a big factor as they also didnt have a natural replacement so a side so reliant on control just now has a huge gap in midfield. But it goes beyond that with an aging squad as you say. Walker has always been reliant on pace which is starting to go, De Bruyne seems to be over the hill and their summer signings of Gundogan and Savinho havent helped at all. Theyve lost Alvarez too who was a very handy option.

He does, although doesnt have the managerial ability of Klopp so cant even justify such levels of arrogance. Both very unlikeable people IMO.

You cant just shrug your shoulders when you get injuries and carry on letting them become repeatedly exposed. Its poor management and Spurs are seriously under achieving. And Ange just becomes more of a prick with the journalists who dare question his malfunctioning tactics.

January Transfer window
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I doubt we are even seriously considering him. All that matters is whether he is a Rovers player come February and we all know the answer. Gueye was anonymous yesterday and offers no goal threat. But either way, there clearly IS a considerable difference in McBurnie and Gueye which was the post I was questioning. -
Tottenham might be a good watch for us neutrals but you would not feel the same as a supporter. They must have them pulling their hair out, Postecoglu is arrogant and stubborn and his team repeatedly lends itself to being torn apart.

There is. McBurnie scored 22 goals in a Championship season, and 13 in another. Gueye looks like he will struggle to get 5. -
Wolves perhaps already justifying the decision to sack O'Neil. Had he been on charge they would have lost having conceded from set pieces and one of their players would have lost his discipline and had a strop.

He definitely was nowhere near as effective as he was against Luton, but his directness as opposed to the usual ambling suspects (Hedges, Dolan, Weimann etc) did allow us to get up the pitch, he got fouled a few times having taken it past his man, he won a few corners having beat his man and of course his pace led to our best chance which admittedly he messed up. -

Why are you waiting to see something unfold so that you can be annoyed at our fans? If that does unfold, you should aim your annoyance purely at the owners. -

Cantwell should not be playing out wide, the debate has been had many times but he isnt effective there either going forward or running back. ACD messed up his chance by taking far too long but is the only player in the squad who would have got that far in the first place. He wasnt half as effective as against Luton but he kept helping us get up the pitch and was often fouled in doing so to win us free kicks. A problem is he is quick but not lightning quick but beyond him, we have no one with any pace. I felt that the subs really weakened us and we were left lacking in any threat on the counter attack. Dolan was particularly bad. -

I dont think it matters to us in terms of his Rovers future where he spends the second half of the season as his contract I think is up in the summer and he should be let go. If a League 1 club will pay us a small fee or more of his wages to take him then yes, but otherwise, its all about what Markanday needs as he looks to a future post Rovers. -

Was a terrible game to watch devoid of quality and the worry is that the injuries will have more impact on the season than the late winner. Usual story, (bar the winner) solid in defence with Pears not having anything difficult to do and the centre backs excellent. Going forward, nowhere near enough quality. Cantwell isnt half as effective wide, Gueye did nothing bar the poor clearance leading to the winner, Ohashi works his socks off but has gone something stupid like 16 without a goal and that doesnt look like ending soon. ACD wasnt as effective but you see from the chance he fluffed the sort of opportunity that can come from having pace on the pitch, problem is when he tires we dont have anyone else. -

I dont miss the defensive side, but again I personally feel you have to still offer more going forward. Beck is a left back and when he plays there he offers more. -

I am not missing it, I just happen to have a different opinion. I know he works hard, keeps the shape and presumably is a decent pro and fits into the dressing room. I personally dont see that as enough. Ive also mentioned before, but during his time here we have struggled with wide men. This season, Weimann offers much more but has had injury issues, Sigurdsson is an invisible man, Cozier Dubbery has been injured, Dolan has been needed centrally and we failed to sign another wide man as planned, so I dont see Hedges constantly playing as automatically meaning that he must be seen as a key player. I also think from a business perspective it makes no sense to commit to a new deal now. And we are assuming that Eustace is pushing for it. It is not as if the transfer window is open nor is there anything other to discuss, so a potential new deal is the only thing really. I dont think the fact that Eustace may like him and keeps selecting him invalidates the opinions of those who dont agree. -
He has had players like De Bruyne, the 2 Silva's and last season Foden who were individually brilliant and at times off the cuff even within that system. Grealish has to an extent been neutralised but I dont think he was ever and never will be ever close to that sort of level.

Duff's main issue was injuries, he was a really important part in the first couple of title wins.
