  1. That would be crazy money for someone with such a poor record. Is it Nixon who wrote that? If so, thats 3 different teams in a week hes going to. Regarding Bayliss, another central midfielder? No thanks.
  2. I meant Bradshaw in regards to not creating many chances for him, not Morris who is injured so its irrelevant. But I dont get how its a valid argument anyway as we dont have a very creative team so surely he would struggle for goals here too? How can you be biased about a players favoured position? They are likely to be the most knowledgeable about the player as he spent his most recent career there. So their opinions are valid. Players do get judged on their time here but we can only base our conversations on a messageboard on their career to date.
  3. Sadly I feel that we dont have the budget for one, never mind both.
  4. Armstrong and Winnall are good shouts I think. Them 2 and Maddison would be 3 good signings.
  5. Hopefully never. Nowhere near good enough. Apparently loan interest in him according to the Lancashire Telegraph so hope he sees out his contract elsewehere. Mowbray has mentioned a few times before, having players on different lists, first choice targets, second choice, third etc. Would like to think the quality on the first list would be the likes of Maddison, like Dack has proven to be consistently a class above League 1, Armstrong who we know compliments Graham and Dack brilliantly. Think Winnall and Mckay are the types that youd have as second choices choices, shown their quality before but their careers have been on a slide. Gallagher and Toney wouldnt even be on 3rd choice list for me and Bradshaw would cost far too much considering his poor goal record. You defend him saying his team didnt create chances (not sure how you know that) as if weve got the attacking midfielders to improve that for him. Just saying I want our players to play in their positions. Think hes seriously injured. Besides, hardly prolific at League 1 level.
  6. Watkins has been linked with 10m+ moves to the Prem and im sure that Hirst has just joined a Belgian club. Far fetched indeed!
  7. Agreed on being underwhelmed on Harrison as a player and his chances of improving upon a poor goalscoring record at a level above. Think this ones been denied previously so might not be us anyway.
  8. I agree that hes improved a lot, still prone to bad patches but a different player to the one that broke through. Hes yet to win everyone over yes but youve missed the point. People arent slagging him off about the Liverpool game specifically, no one described his performance as anything but good, so it seems strange to come into the thread and start slagging people off, as if youve got a chip on your shoulder. Whittingham is equally an easy target and youve picked him out when in my opinion he was always going to struggle in a half an hour cameo with 2 kids either side of him v Fabinho and Keita. But Davenport was the one that if anyone warranted criticism, he did. Before the season there was only optimism. I briefly forgot how bad we were in that opening dozen games or so, lost 4 times and look generally awful, there was a massive hangover and with Dack having injuries we had absolutely no spark and were terrible to watch. It was all warranted criticism. Same to you.
  9. None of our fans have gone into melt down about any of our pre season games?
  10. Mulgrew and Lenihan are good Championship defenders.
  11. Reading the opinions of the Oxford fans doesnt really instill confidence in Rothwell. Common themes include injury prone, inconsistent, big doubts on whether he will play and if so, step up to Championship, and also surprise that weve signed him considering Payne struggled for game time. Seems like its a gamble as a cheap, youngish squad player by Mowbray who can back up Dack. Key thing is apparently he is a reluctant wide man, played there with an attacking full back to compensate. Played there mainly to accommodate other players. Meanwhile, surely no truth in this, considering we dont need more central midfielders: http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/07/18/report-west-ham-knock-back-josh-cullen-interest-from-blackburn-a/
  12. Derby are going to be a threat, Wilson and Mount look terrific loan signings and Jozefoon will give them such pace. Dependant solely on Lampards ability as a manager. Stoke favourites for the title in my opinion, Ince and McLean both potentially experienced wingers, Allen and Etebo giving them control in midfield, Afobe a proven goalscorer, experience at the back, Butland seemingly staying and if Bojan stays too he might give them that bit of flair.
  13. I would definitely say so as a winger, yes. Scored 14 in 50 games for Wigan, struggled for game time at Norwich, however Bennett didnt contribute with nearly enough goals or assists when played as a winger, even in League 1, and he doesnt offer a threat in behind either. Wildshut is really quick and powerful and would have offered us a different dimension that we dont have. Im not saying that there arent better wingers out there necessarily (whether they are obtainable, especially if we have strict budget restrictions, which we wont know until the window closes for sure) but im just answering your question of if Wildschut would get in our team, specifically ahead of Bennett, in my opinion. That said, if he had joined now, youd imagine the 2 would be the wingers we would start with. I would suggest that Conway offers even less of an attacking threat than Bennett nowadays. Wide is an area whereby we are lacking even more than up front.
  14. As far as ive seen, Nyambes got only positive comments regarding his performance v Liverpool, so I dont understand why youve come on and made such a comment, totally unprovoked. Its a fair opinion too, im guessing you dont rate him, so youre doing exactly to him what youre having a go at others for doing to Nyambe. Didnt hear any doom mongers last season, to be honest the fanbase was positive even at the start of the season when wed just gone down, so thats inaccurate imo.
  15. Who said "great signings." Wildshut in particular and even McManaman would instantly get into our team. More so because we have no wingers worthy of the name!
  16. Looking at that list, Armstrong stands out, aside from that slim pickings. Winnall I think id take but like Rhodes who you are always keen to deride, hes struggled for game time and goals in the last couple of years, that said I would welcome him. The other 3, Gallagher not good enough as weve discussed, Bradshaws goal return last year was very underwhelming, Toney nowhere near good enough and Wigan didnt even want him in League 1 and sent him back. Winnall, Armstrong and Maddison would be a good trio of signings, albeit 2 havent been linked and 1 we dont seem able to re sign, so it is a fanciful wishlist. Not one person has said that Lowe is good enough so not sure why you put that comment. But you mention our signings, if we are doing an analysis on the players weve brought in, ones an injury prone player who League 1 Oxford werent too bothered to see leave, and the other has played 17 games of competitive football in his career. So I doubt our rivals are too concerned to miss out on them either and im not sure how you can judge them to be "hands down" superior. Oztumer certainly would struggle behind Dack, but Wildschut would definitely walk into our team.
  17. Hes a good player and one id definitely take here.
  18. Not about last night they werent. And to be honest, most agree that hes improved in general. No need to be moddycoddled, some people rate him, some less so, but we are talking about 1 performance that no one has criticised. Tomlinson, Whittingham and in particular, Davenport were all outclassed v Keita and Fabinho, hardly shameful. Davenport kept giving it away, once leading to a goal. He was the worst of the 3 but Whittingham hardly did anything to make him stand out for criticism.
  19. Literally no one has criticised Nyambe regarding last night, unanimous praise so I presume your "doom mongers move on" comment is similar to your post in the transfer thread, trying to wind folk up. Dont understand such an emphasis on a player in Whittingham who played half an hour in a team of kids. Not sure your criticism is totally warranted.
  20. Was only a joke chaddy. Got experience, need pace and flair. McKay not the worst shout in the world, probably cheap too and worth a gamble.
  21. Peterboroughs attention seeking bell end of a chairman has said on video that Maddisons clause is 2.5m (not 1m whoever said that), that 2 clubs met it but were trying to stretch the fee out over 4 years. One he was ready to go to a medical at until the snag of a player that team were selling didnt leave. If that was us I cant see who that player we were trying to sell would be. Maddison is back in training with Peterborough when they return from their training camp on Monday. This rumour as much as he would be a good signing seems to have snowballed from absolutely nothing. I cant see us spending near that amount sadly. Hope im wrong. Same with Armstrong.
  22. 3017/18? Cant argue with the longgevity. No to Pilkington. Far too slow and the fact that hes a fan is basically irrelevant. McKay a more interesting one. Definite talent, skill and pace but unwanted by Rangers and now Forest in quick succession doesnt scream success. Transfermarkt value means nothing. Glad to hear Dack has signed a new deal but dont get why it is only 3 years, makes it a bit of a non story. Was hoping for longer.
  23. Doesnt look like the type of player who runs at players, who gets fans off their seat.
