  1. After getting stick for all that time, its the least they deserved, and now they are going to go down and no doubt McCarthy will be grinning from ear to ear.
  2. You've forgot the point of an internet messageboard again chaddy, Even if Mowbray plays him (or doesnt) in a certain way, we dont have to agree with him. And in terms of potential discussion topics, a 7 million signing yet to start a league game will always be near the top of the potential discussions, so prepare to be bored for a long time! I would either have taken Graham off if he was tiring, which I dont know as I wasnt there, or not brought him on at all. That being said, it would make a mockery of our number 1 priority being another striker, because then when would he get any game time either? I dont rate Sam Gallagher very highly so am thankful that Nicko doesnt know what hes talking about. I would play Reed centrally but I acknowledged that he has been excellent and possibly the only unqualified success in terms of summer transfers. Mulgrews goals have been 3 penalties,a free kick and a direct corner. My main point was that Mowbrays attempts to bring in attacking players especially to fill the wide positions have yet to bear fruit. Stats back that up.
  3. It appears they are playing better? Not sure where you are getting that from but theyve lost 4 in a row Because for some reason youve got a personal grudge against McCarthy. Still, if theyd prefer relegation to a manager that consistently overachieved but did bite back when they constantly berated him, thats their call
  4. You might find the constant discussion about our 7m striker signing "boring" but you mention yourself about a lack of ruthlessness costing us points. The situation wont get a free pass on the basis that he may well be a big talent (without needing to talk to managers to confirm it), and hes not a total novice now. Hes played a couple of seasons for Forest predominantly as a centre forward, fans just want to see him play there more often. So we are limited to one striker because the second one we have hasnt started a league game, when he does come on he tends to be seen as a wide man, and people have 2 aspects to their grievances, could we afford to spend 7m ie most of our budget on a player not ever considered for a start when we have major weaknesses in our squad (notably in the position Brereton plays) and also whether we need to treat a player already with plenty of Championship experience as a striker as an total novice. I agree that we need goals from all over but that brings another thing into question, Mowbrays recruitment in the summer. I have said before I think the summer window was not particularly successful (bar the excellent Reed loan) and the fact that the players Mowbray signed to play the wide roles (even though none are wingers) in Rothwell, Palmer and Armstrong have 2 goals between them, added to none from Bennett and its a major concern that we arent getting goals from these areas. Venus must not get a say judging by us playing the most long balls in the league then ?
  5. Slightly. Hurst picked up 9 points from 15 at an average of 0.6 points per game. Embarassingly low. Lamberts picked up 2 from 6 games at a average of 0.33 points per game, even worse! Thats true and totally agree on McCarthy. Wonder if their fans would admit yet that they were idiots for hounding him out?
  6. Paul Lambert has managed to get 2 points from 6 games at Ipswich, losing his last 4. Bet they are regretting that appointment already.
  7. Not good enough. To be 1 up against 10 men after just over 20 minutes and to just about take a draw isnt good enough.
  8. Easy team selection, cant argue with it at all.
  9. Im not sure its fair to ignore a 7 million elephant in the room! Hes had favourable budgets in both League 1 and in terms of net spend, the Championship. Has to be a factor in any judgement. If he had to name his best 11 now, I suspect that Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Williams, Evans, Bennett and Graham would all be in it. That would leave only 3 of his own signings making the team. Dack is the first name on it. Reed has been a terrific temporary acquisition. The 3rd is one open to debate with no one really nailing it down, with even Conway (another inherited signing) seemingly as close to the team as any of Rothwell, Palmer and Armstrong at the moment. The likes of Bell, Downing, Smallwood and even Armstrong have big question marks in terms of competence at this level, albeit the latter 3 contributed plenty towards last season. Palmer, Rodwell, Rothwell and Brereton (as well as Armstrong again) all have big question marks in terms of identity and tangible contribution. A few come under the category of supporting roles in League 1, Antonsson, Payne, Samuel, 2 temporary and one injured but I would again doubt that any of them 3 would be good enough in this league. And there have been some total stinkers, Hart, Gladwin etc I would personally give the most recent transfer window the lowest mark. Although quite a few of his signings from last season have question marks at Championship level, I don't think you could argue against them contributing to various degrees last season, Smallwood and Armstrong played major roles, Downing was important with Lenihans injury and Antonsson chipped in with a few goals again in the first half of the season. He spent a lot of money in the summer, only Reed has nailed down a place, and there are question marks about many of the others and how fit for purpose they really are with the squad looking slightly imbalanced and shallow in a few areas. Compared to player recruitment and balance of squad, Mowbray comes up particularly favourably in terms of the job hes done getting the best from those he inherited. Raya, Nyambe and Lenihan have all developed under his management. Mulgrew has thrived as a leader as captain and been able to concentrate on his best position, centre back. Evans has gone from fall guy to unsung hero this season and Graham was written off by many but now he seems better than ever, and has been as good as any of our players this season. Of course, the main thing to judge on is results. And hes come up favourably on that too!
  10. 100%. Mowbray talked about different lists of different targets repeatedly in the summer. So surely no need to be reliant on signing these 2.
  11. Totally avoids reinforcing our brittle defence, leaving the strong potential for the likes of Rodwell, Williams (CB) and Bennett to have to fill in again in defence, all of whom have proven themselves not to be up to it in makeshift positions. Centre back is a key area to bring someone in, priority 1, and both full back positions are at least considerations to bring someone in; Nyambe is a good prospect who is improving but a spell of poor form (like hes on in the last few games) is not uncommon and we need competition there, and both left backs arent really up it, especially Bell. Maupay and Adams totally unrealistic, as is Ings. Wickham forever injured, and on Gallagher, weve got our own 7 million striker and Gallagher isnt that good, surely play Brereton over him. Gallagher is too lightweight to hold the ball up as a lone striker so hed end up on the wing like he did under Mowbray at the end of his season here. We dont need more of that type. Chapman too injury prone and would be a sentimental purchase. Do need a winger though in an ideal world who can contribute to our goals and assists, ie not just an impact sub.
  12. If it was that simple it would have been figured out long ago. The whole team played shite in both of those games, the latter of which we played with no striker. Hoofing the ball over his head, plus he will have off days.
  13. Im not saying that you are saying this, so apologies, but there seems to be a growing assumption that man marking him is the magic formula to eradicating him from the game. If only if it was that simple.
  14. I think he played at least some games out wide for Sunderland.
  15. Whether he thought that or not is irrelevant, im just pointing out his obvious calibre, and he hasnt really featured much since early in the season. He scored v Brentford, his individual run was the difference v Bolton, and I thought he did pretty well v West Brom and Rotherham. He often plays on the right wing, even on the left wing I feel he would be more dangerous coming inside and linking with Dack and Graham. Him up front is stupidity and hopefully wont be repeated. I do feel he has been slightly underwhelming, but he would need replacing and I would like to see him play a bit more before January. I also dont think that Armstrong or Rothwell have been any better, but especially the latter, they similarly are in and out of the team and out of position. If he does go back, I would like a more natural wide man to come in, and not Chapman as he is too injury prone.
  16. The third comment I agree with (bar that his career wasnt going anywhere) but its irrelevant to the point Mercer made. Players will never publicly say anything but positive things about the manager, and if they did, it certainly wouldnt be allowed on the official website. Thats a point not specific to Mowbray nor Dack, nor is it a slight on either of them.
  17. He didnt say that he was lying. More that the official site will only publish positive interviews. Not that hes been put up to saying something thats a lie. Ive stated that I think its obvious that Mowbray has been very good for Dacks career, and Dack has been very good for Rovers. Just to clarify.
  18. How have you taken that as Mercer saying hes lying? Ive taken it as it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as its on the official site so only positive articles will be made. I have no doubts that Dack as a signing and how hes been managed has been a huge plus point in Mowbrays reign.
  19. The only snide connotations are towards the owners. It is at most slightly underwhelming, for you to turn "slightly above average" into being nasty is needless paranoia and manipulation of what hes said.
  20. Palmer is given a bit of a hard time, he is given occasional starts, never in his favoured number 10 position, and I dont think has done as badly as people make out. He undoubtedly has the calibre, his spell at Huddersfield shows that.
  21. How is that being "needlessly nasty" and bringing in the manager unnecessarily?! The post from @Rover_Shaun actually implied that Mowbray is a positive, but not enough in isolation to forgive Venkys. I dont see how on earth you have come to your conclusion.
  22. Mercer has a credible point, and I think describing it as "bait" is a massive overreaction. Did our players come out on the official site saying how rubbish Coyle was when he was here? No they didnt, you have to take official interviews with a pinch of salt. That said, I do think that Dack has been obviously a major plus of Mowbrays reign, signing him for cheap and undoubtedly getting a consistent level of performance from him far above expectation is testament to him. I am not doubting that for one minute.
  23. Im not sure he would, think hes overrated due to being local, he fell out of the 18 by the end of the season he left at the end of.
  24. It was aimed at how you would feel, not your actions based at how you feel. Would you be open minded and willing to embrace and willing to forgive. Or would you still feel hostile towards them and full of hate.
  25. Don't be pedantic, I know they do, I meant if they attended another game. Taking your hypothetical future scenarios out of the equation. If the Raos put out a statement tonight, we are coming to the home game against Birmingham, how would you feel? You are right, there is no right or wrong answer, all about personal opinion. And you dont have to defend Mowbrays integrity at every juncture. No one is doubting it. (That said, if Barcelona or Man United wanted him as manager, hed be gone in a shot!) I suspect @Tyrone Shoelaces was mainly pointing out the volatility of the owners beyond their choice of the current manager. Ie it could go pear shaped at any moment under these owners.
