  1. So out of interest, if they came back, would you think it was positive or would you dislike it?
  2. Find it very interesting that slightly more would be willing to forgive and forget rather than greet them with hostility. I know that when the topic arose ie when a junior member of the family tested the water in the way he did the other day, I still felt animosity towards the idea in the pit of my stomach. Would I protest? (as in the past) No I wouldnt. But I certainly hope they stay well away and a League 1 promotion and a year and a bit of stability hasnt removed my dislike of them by any means.
  3. Just thought it might be worth making a poll to see the extent of peoples feelings towards the owners if they returned. Seen quite a few people suggest they would welcome the owners back due to the money they put in and their "efforts" to repair the damage. And obviously still some saying no way to the idea of forgiveness. If mods feel like its unnecessary or if its too similar to the existing Venkys thread, please delete.
  4. It would be interesting to see a poll of whether if Venkys came to a game, people would welcome them or meet them with hostility. I think the analogy of someone having the decency to take you to hospital after stabbing you in the face was a very apt one!
  5. Maybe reasonable hypothetical scenarios as to why he hasnt played much but the main issue is where he has played or where Mowbray sees him playing, thats what people have mainly criticised. It also doesnt touch the argument of whether we can afford the luxury of a player not remotely intended to start for at least the first half a season.
  6. I think £12.5 million would not in anyway guarantee the numbers in terms of goals and assists that Dack provides.
  7. Your last paragraph sums something up very prevalent on this messageboard. Either misreading or manipulating a point a poster made about one element of our team that could be improved into a post about how everyone wants to stick the knife into Mowbray and everyone is happy when we lose. For what its worth, I think @blueboy3333 made a point with more than a semblence of truth to it. I think 29 points from 20 games is a points tally that is neither incredible but certainly is acceptable, possibly slightly above that. Hes doing well hence no one is really calling for his head bar maybe Mercerman. You look at Dack and Graham and we are perhaps overly reliant on that partnership, and we arent freescoring anyway. Mowbray takes plenty of credit there in that he signed Dack for a bargain fee and has seemingly man managed him very well, and hes also seemingly doing all he can to maintain Grahams career despite his age. Wide positions however on the flip side are nowhere near as successful. The combined efforts of Armstrong, Rothwell, Palmer, Conway, Bennett and at times Reed in terms of goals and assists and also the inconsistent selections there suggest we are yet to stumble across a particularly effective set of wide men. Possibly as many of those players prefer to play elsewhere.
  8. The only difference certainly wasnt just that Wednesday didnt make special arrangements to stop him. It was the service into him. Far less long balls, Conway in particular seemed on the same wave length as him as can be seen by the first and third goals where he showed the intelligence to play clever passes to him. Far less aimless hoofball and better service to him.
  9. No thats what I mean. If it was possible I'd play at least 3 of him.
  10. I was responding to biz who mentioned using him sparingly. I also said that I think hes been excellent and his fitness is better than we give him credit for. Graham being first choice is not down to a lack of alternative or a slight on anyone else, its because hes been one of our key players all season. All I ever wanted at the moment is Brereton to be second choice in that when Graham isnt available, but based on recent selections and also recent quotes I dont think he is.
  11. I'd be very reluctant to change anything after yesterday. You seem insistent on suddenly peddling this theory, but I am not sure its 100% accurate. For example, before my time a bit Jason Wilcox was apparently a "scapegoat." People havent been unreasonable in suggesting that the Evans and Smallwood partnership is more often than not one that screams of a little too much loyalty towards especially Smallwood after last season. They played together v QPR and typified a very common performance of theirs in terms of their conservative limitations on the ball were contributing factors in an inability to get the ball forward through the lines. Against Wigan, they were hapless too. They are (especially Evans) very useful players to have in the squad, but people are justified in feeling that Mowbray is at times too loyal to them. There are a few games this season (Leeds I think aswell?) where they have played big parts in positive performances. I just feel people think sometimes we need only one of them (Evans for me) alongside either the energy and tenacity of Reed or the better passing range of Rodwell. Such viewpoints are not unwarranted or based on the generation we are in.
  12. If the EFL has relaxed its rules on cloning players, Reed would be able to do that role and continue what he did yesterday within the same team. Feel like Reed is a lovely upgrade.
  13. I never said we can get anyone as good as Graham. But just an alternative would be good. I feel like we already have one... My choice of alternative would be Brereton, a striker who may not be up to Grahams standards, but someone with Championship experience and plenty of potential. And just because I dont have a list of potential signings doesnt mean that it warrants or justifies your point.
  14. Totally missing the point I am making. If we dont have a direct alternative AT THE MOMENT, ie Brereton and Armstrong are not considered to be strikers in the here and now, then we have less room to manoeuvre in terms of resting and managing Grahams game time. Its nothing to do with what you perceive to be a sudden generation of impatience as to the point I was making. I'm sure people years and years ago used to complain about things in the same way, but not via the method of a messageboard. Grabban is reportedly on a big contract and may well be out of our wage bracket, but the key word is "reckon" we dont have the foggiest really in terms of how much players earn.
  15. IMO, that would be an illogical move based on blind loyalty towards an admittedly committed player who doesnt really offer an attacking threat. Bennett on one wing and Conway on the other for me is far too conservative. I would like to see Reed central in an ideal world. Next week should be the same midfield again. If Bennett is fit, he can be sub. I'm not sure by his ball retention as a central midfielder in anything other than a short term role. Im not sure he warrants a starting place at the moment.
  16. Then it comes back round to the problem of imbalanced recruitment, if we are unable to do that on the assumption that Mowbray doesnt see Brereton as a striker, in the absence of any back up. I'd like to think that Mowbray is coming around to the idea that Brereton can be played centrally when Graham is unavailable. That being said, I think we underestimate Grahams fitness. Look at that incredible run he did right at the end yesterday, out sprinting his man with the added barrier of needing to run around the linesman. Whilst it seems fairly sure that Grabbans wages are perhaps beyond us, your assumptions on our top earners are total unsubstantiated guesses.
  17. Don't think Bennetts recent form as a wide man is enough for him to stroll straight back into the side.
  18. They are the goals that boost the numbers too, anyone who thinks Graham has been anything but excellent for the majority of the season has been watching different games to me. Considering the poor service he has got and the number of aimless long balls at times this season as the stats show, his hold up play has been exceptional and now his record of 7 league goals and 3 assists in 15 starts (4 sub appearances too) is decent too. Before this last week, its his goals tally that has let him down. We are too reliant on him and Dack but they are a joy of a partnership.
  19. He was central for them 2 cameos.
  20. Quite a lot of posters praised him for his team selection, for example Conway and Downing, after initially fearing for it.
  21. Again, not true. Bad performances I suppose do require more of an autopsy as to whats gone wrong, plus frustration will be multiplied when for example spent good money travelling in all weathers to support the team. That said, theres been plenty of praise on the Sheffield Wednesday thread alone. Regarding your last sentence, thats totally not true. Think of the stick that Dack has got, that Bell has got, that Williams has got, that Rodwell has got, that Nyambe has got etc in the last week. The manager takes the brunt of everything of course either way but lets not make it out to be a witch hunt.
  22. If anyone did put that then they are obviously talking shite but I havent seen anyone and remain unconvinced. Fed up of this need people have to imply that masses of our fan base want the manager out or have asked for it etc, its quite clearly not true and people only do it to seemingly shield any criticism from him or to try and make people look stupid.
  23. Who said that he isnt good enough and should go? If City got hammered 4-1 and then 3-1 in a matter of days, regardless of Guardiola and the job hes done, hed get criticised. He made some very questionable subs and tactical choices (no striker v PNE, subbing Williams for Graham at Wigan, playing Rodwell at centre back) that warranted and brought on criticism. Either im missing people directly calling for a change of manager or its being manipulated that theres loads of people wanting a managerial change to try and make people look stupid and remove any scope for criticism at all. I dont feel like we are fighting above our weight either considering the resources Mowbray has had, that being said he is doing a good job as the vast majority will echo. Where are these quotes? Mowbray got plenty of praise yesterday, and post match I personally didnt see anyone saying it is in spite of Mowbray at all, in fact a lot of people including myself held their hands up. Mowbray has received plenty of praise, after games such as Leeds and Brentford are obvious examples.
  24. Who should be embarrased? I dont understand your post in that any team will always court criticism if it hits a drop in form. Too many people on here manipulate those criticisms to be judgements about Mowbrays overall position.
  25. Nyambe was much improved in the second half but much of his play in the first half was pretty clumsy and brainless. Overall id say 6 out of 10 which would probably be the worst rating. We looked so dangerous playing between the lines, we were creating chances from open play and it was a far cry from most of the games recently. The front 4 all on the same wavelength. Agree totally on Conway. Thought his intelligence and some of his clever touches anticipating the ball before the full back to take him out of the game showed how cleverer he is than many of the alternatives. We were right to doubt him, he was really poor and leggy all last season and it was only a one off but today took me back to the days when he was easily one of the best wide men in the league. His decision making was superb too. I think you are overestimating the achievement in that they have lost their way since then dramatically. Many players are injured, have left or have been frozen out. That said, for me as much as the result is always the key, the performance and the way we beat them deserved credit regardless of how poor they were.
