  1. I saw in the minute long preview video tweeted that he spent most of it saying how he wants more people to be in the ground. All well and good, but purposely evading the main reason why attendances arent bigger, price.
  2. Footballers play enough games, regardless of club/country. Would you actually be in favour of dropping the League Cup in favour of the Nations League? It is a futile attempt to try and make these pointless international breaks feel somewhat competitive. The players clearly dont see them as importance hence the predictable flurry of drop outs every time.
  3. We are 2 years away from the next tournament, so those friendlies didnt need replacing with an alternative.
  4. I think the Champions League format change makes no sense, the previous format was fine. But why would you cut the league cup ahead of the Nations league.
  5. We dont know if he will be up to it, but if we have spent money on another keeper who isnt even an upgrade on Pears then its another huge error in recruitment and one that will cost us points because it will mean that Pears remains number 1.
  6. In the grand scheme of things they are pointless, hence why players are happy to pull out. An unwelcome, early break to the momentum of the club season and needless extra games.
  7. Unsurprisingly, these pointless Nations League games are greeted with a flurry of withdrawls from the squad.
  8. Toth obviously can be worse, but we shouldnt be holding off out of fear of it. If he is then its another horrendous bit of recruitment because signing a new keeper who can start for us was a primary priority. We shouldnt be sticking with Pears as if hes a safe pair of hands and we dont want to gamble.
  9. You say have some patience. No one has any patience in Pears because he has worn it away considering the amount of mistakes he repeatedly makes. A new goalkeeper was of primary importance in this transfer window, someone to take over from Pears hence why people are so eager to get the new guy in. If he isn't going to be ready for months then a huge weakness in the team will continue to cause us problems. Wahlstedt's main issue wasn't (out of necessity) being chucked in too soon. It was that he was crap. Just because Toth was signed from overseas shouldn't mean we will need to wait ages to get him in. What are you talking about? Cant believe what you are reading and people lacking the "emotional cojones" to handle the window. Reaction to the window considering the tiny budget in relation to what we have brought in has been very positive, not befitting your over the top nonsense. Lots of praise given to the recruitment team. Point being, had the same people who recruited been given a more reasonable budget, they would have been able to do even more, whether thats to fill one or two areas we are still light in, have more focus on longer term signings (only 4 of the new signings are on multi year contracts) and perhaps sign a couple of potential assets that could grow in value. So the issue is with the owners not spending.
  10. Wahlstedt wasnt chucked straight in, he came into the team in October out of necessity when Pears was injured.
  11. I dont think he will. Im saying that I think he should. You are again confusing that what I think Eustace will do isnt necessarily what I think he should do. Duru came on because he seemingly is higher in the pecking order as a right back, I dont agree that he should be. And as I said, if he played at right back it wouldnt have to be in the exact same way that he did under Tomasson. He could play as a right back in a different way, and I still feel he would be effective there. Moreso than Duru who I think is still very raw. He wouldnt have to come inside like he did under Tomasson, IMO he could hold the width a bit more and still be effective. I also think that he is well down the pecking order out wide and in central midfield, ie the 2 positions where Eustace has played him, and neither of which he has been effective in. So unless he is considered at right back, he will struggle to get any game time which would be wasteful.
  12. Its better to fix things before they cost us points rather than after. We have not kept a clean sheet and Pears has made a number of errors that thankfully/luckily for him didnt lead to goals.
  13. That was a throwaway comment clearly intended to cause a stir. He seemingly is asked to not get involved in build up because City are so dominant that he can stick to just scoring goal after goal. But you would struggle to find a player with his movement, pace, heading ability, strength and power in League 1.
  14. Pears hasnt made any goal costing big mistakes (question over yesterdays goal but either way it wasnt a big error) but he has made a number of big misjudgements which he has gotten away with. There was one against Derby where he charged out and was fortunate that Mendez Laing couldnt lob him/find a team mate, he made a huge mistake at Norwich where Tronstad made an unbelievable last ditch block and yesterday where he ran out and Foster headed wide with Pears stranded. He has also palmed a number of shots back into dangerous areas. He hasnt made any stand out saves either really. Those mistakes will start to cost us direcly if he continues in net, which I fear he will. Pickering is really underrated because of his lack of pace. He often makes up for it because he positions himself well and reads the game well. He has played well in the first 3 games and I wouldnt mind whoever of the 2 starting at left back v Bristol City.
  15. I would guess that he unfortunately will stick with calamity Pears for the forseeable. I would be surprised if he makes any changes besides the enforced one up front, and at a push Pickering back in. If Brittain is injured, then it has to be JRC. All this shite about him not suiting Eustace's football, which I don't really get as he is good going forward and a better defender than Brittain. He wouldnt have to do the exact same role as he did under Tomasson but Duru is still very raw and Rankin Costello has proven to be a very capable right back in this league. Plus he should be well down the pecking order further forward.
  16. Has to be the worst decision over the summer to keep Ten Hag and give him a new job. Well, I am all for it actually. Hope he stays for many years and continues to witness them faltering.
  17. I suspect had it been in yesterday and that goal had been given via VAR, you wouldnt have been saying that it needs scrapping as a direct result. I think people are just criticising two poor decisions made which hindered 2 very big chances on the counter attack. The finish for the wrongly disallowed good was very good, the game changes if we go 2-1 up in the first half so we may or may not have won, we will never know, but his decisions were still poor in shooting weakly straight at Trafford with Weimann square for a tap in, and holding onto the ball for too long reducing the quality of chance for Travis.
  18. I agree that Hyam, Carter, Tronstad, Travis and Ohashi all pick themselves. I fear that Eustace will stick with Pears in the near future but he has to play Toth. We cant keep playing Pears considering how poor he is. There will be a big decision to make at left back with 2 players who can both feel aggrieved if they dont play. I would put JRC at right back with Brittain being defensively poor. In attacking midfield we will have various options and again I suspect that Eustace will probably go with Dolan, Hedges and Weimann. Hedges again whilst working hard was ineffective going forward and Dolan repeatedly made poor decisions. I would love to see Cantwell and Cozier Duberry start to give us some guile and pace respectively, with Weimann deserving to keep his place too. I expect the same team as yesterday beside a change of striker. I would go: Toth JRC Carter Hyam Beck Travis Tronstad Cozier Duberry Cantwell Weimann Ohashi
  19. He did it repeatedly though, for far too long. Easy to blame the referee who was very poor throughout but in this instance the blame lies with Gueye for stupidity.
  20. Definitely. It was the second counter attack where his poor decision making let us down after failing to square to Weimann for a tap in earlier on.
  21. Press resistant and plays through the lines. Love the new jargon. Its ok because these games are just unwanted, pointless nations league games against poor opposition, so it doesnt really matter who plays. I suspect many will pull out as this international break is an inconvience to everyone. But there is no logic to Wharton not playing, and Carsley has just stuck half of his old under 21 team in the squad. Take Morgan Gibbs White for example. Good player, but is there any need when we have Foden, Palmer and Eze?
  22. I presume it was Hedges who was given as offside as he was interfering with play and there wasnt that much in it, but he was just onside. It was a close one but one that VAR would have overturned. If today is anything to go by then our best 2 full backs are unfortunately both left backs. It leaves some strong competition on that side but as you say we look weaker at right back. Brittain isnt the best defensively and Duru isnt ready. Rankin Costello should be considered there but seemingly wont be, telling that he didnt come on.
  23. My issue is with his immaturity and idiocy. Whether the first yellow card was fair or not, he was on a yellow and what he did left his team mates in the shit. All keepers do make mistakes. He doesnt get unwarranted stick because the issue is the number of mistakes he makes. He isnt Championship standard. Officials make mistakes just like players do. If VAR had been in place we would have likely gone 2-1 up, assuming no foul by Hedges.
  24. Only one is a proper midfielder. Would get overrun.
