  1. If hes playing in an inferior league with totally different demands in terms of physicality, of course it is a punt. You could sign a player from non league and say a goal is a goal.
  2. Baker is a decent enough signing. We need an extra player in midfield and he has shown quality (albeit inconsistently) at this level. He can score goals and take a good set piece. He isnt the most athletic though in what is already not the most athletic team and I am not sure how he would slot in a midfield 2 unless its beside Tronstad as he isnt the best defensively. Cantwell and Cozier-Duberry feel like the most likely to not get over the line and either deal collapsing would be a third window last gasp embarassment and would really change the narrative around a potentially decent window considering the owners negligence.
  3. Its a big if, and it wouldnt surprise me if at least one deal fell away at the end, then it would make the squad look much stronger than at the start of the week. It still shouldnt take away from the fact that the owners will have spent about £2-2.5m of £40m even if it turns out that the recruitment is as good as it possibly can be under those conditions. There are still question marks, we still would be short at centre back and its a big risk for this keeper who has to be number 1 otherwise we are already at a huge handicap. Our team also seems quite lethargic with the likes of Baker and Cantwell not aiding that, as much as they do bring other qualities. This lad from Brighton could be a key addition but perhaps the one that is at most risk of falling away. He would give us a bit of pace that we otherwise are desperately lacking. Has there been any more on that deal?
  4. Away from the bright lights of London? Hes never played there.
  5. Weve brought in £40m+, have spent £1m and are seemingly spending another £1-1.5m. I think because of how low expectations are and a bit of giddiness about some new signings, combined with the timing of their exits, its easy to lose perspective. They spent something like £100m last season, theyve spent big on Worrall and Hannibal, have spent on other various fees and will likely spend more.
  6. I didnt want Krul, but it sums the owners up that we have seemingly struggled with a few deals over peanuts in the grand scheme of things.
  7. Do you have the article? Does he have other options. I never thought I would be asking that! But he has been good with Rovers news this summer. Although if its John Park, surely its not good that hes leaking our transfer news.
  8. Thats one that would only make sense as a permanent deal. And we should be able to afford it having spent less than 2m of the 40m brought in. Surely we wouldnt get him and the Brighton lad? Not saying we shouldnt.
  9. Is this Brighton lad close to signing or is it just an interest?
  10. Hopefully it will not end up being a loan. Is it still supposed to be permanent?
  11. Mercer's impersonator on twitter is right on the pulse of this. Mind you, wouldnt be a total shock if he did still not sign.
  12. Las Palmas have signed Scott McKenna and Oli McBurnie this summer so they arent alien to this market.
  13. Not a chance of bringing in 5 more, that is for sure.
  14. And you, and me, and any other fan. Still, he isnt perfect. Just assuming that he knows more to the point where he isnt questioned isnt healthy.
  15. I never said that Eustace will do that. I personally think, as do others, that Rankin Costello has had by far his best performances in a Rovers shirt from right back. Not only to specifically drift inside, but he was better defensively there than I expected and he lacks the athleticism to pose a threat further up the pitch. He also struggles in a frantic midfield to be aware of whats around him, hes better moving from deep ie at full back. He struggled in central midfield last season, and when put back there yesterday he had an absolute nightmare. He also doesnt look well suited to playing wide. And yes, desperate if reports are to be believed. Piss poor budget and lots of infighting over which targets we want leaves us with lots to do in little over 48 hours. Weve gone through loads of goalkeeping targets to end up seemingly flying over a random Hungarian. We are desperate for speed out wide yet have seemingly ended up resorting to Todd Cantwell. Ashby if those reports are true also doesnt fit the remit of what we need. Just seems like loads of people having loads of opinions leading to us just trying desperately to get whatever we can over the line.
  16. Ashby would make no sense, we have Brittain at right back and Rankin Costello is best there yet keeps getting put in other positions and struggling. Feels like we are desperately just trying to get any warm bodies in now.
  17. We wont spend £10m, we will spend peanuts. Expectations based on what we need and should get. Even your list of 4 new incomings assuming we get the Cantwell deal done and 2 loans we havent heard any mention of yet seems ambitious.
  18. 2 quick wingers, a striker (Ohashi doesnt seem to be an out and out striker), a central midfielder, a goalkeeper (not a random Hungarian that no one has heard of and a left sided centre back. Say £10m spent on a winger, striker, midfielder and keeper and the central defensive cover and second winger can be loans. No idea on names.
  19. Wouldnt be shocked if we failed to agree terms with Cantwell and either had to renegotiate a subsidised loan or even got a loan from elsewhere.
  20. 4 was repeated at the start of the week and Eustace said he would be happy with 4. Prior to Beck signing and well after the sale of Szmodics.
  21. Chaddys expectations are on the table. 5 more, Cantwell, a winger, a central midfielder, a keeper and a centre back. Absolutely no chance like, even if its a fair analysis of what we need. But if we fall short, criticism will follow.
  22. The issue with Cantwell financially would always be his wages. Rangers want rid so the fee was never likely going to be an issue, so still a lot of jeopardy. People mention Cantwell and a winger, im not convinced that will be the case even if we can agree terms with Cantwell. Eustace mentioned 4, a full back which we have signed, a keeper (potentially the random Hungarian) and then a midfielder and a winger. Cantwell fits neither of those but he can play wide and certainly isnt going to play/cover where Travis and Tronstad play, where we are short.
