I never said that Eustace will do that. I personally think, as do others, that Rankin Costello has had by far his best performances in a Rovers shirt from right back. Not only to specifically drift inside, but he was better defensively there than I expected and he lacks the athleticism to pose a threat further up the pitch. He also struggles in a frantic midfield to be aware of whats around him, hes better moving from deep ie at full back. He struggled in central midfield last season, and when put back there yesterday he had an absolute nightmare. He also doesnt look well suited to playing wide. And yes, desperate if reports are to be believed. Piss poor budget and lots of infighting over which targets we want leaves us with lots to do in little over 48 hours. Weve gone through loads of goalkeeping targets to end up seemingly flying over a random Hungarian. We are desperate for speed out wide yet have seemingly ended up resorting to Todd Cantwell. Ashby if those reports are true also doesnt fit the remit of what we need. Just seems like loads of people having loads of opinions leading to us just trying desperately to get whatever we can over the line.

Ashby would make no sense, we have Brittain at right back and Rankin Costello is best there yet keeps getting put in other positions and struggling. Feels like we are desperately just trying to get any warm bodies in now.

We wont spend £10m, we will spend peanuts. Expectations based on what we need and should get. Even your list of 4 new incomings assuming we get the Cantwell deal done and 2 loans we havent heard any mention of yet seems ambitious.

Say £10m spent on a winger, striker, midfielder and keeper and the central defensive cover and second winger can be loans. No idea on names.

Wouldnt be shocked if we failed to agree terms with Cantwell and either had to renegotiate a subsidised loan or even got a loan from elsewhere.

4 was repeated at the start of the week and Eustace said he would be happy with 4. Prior to Beck signing and well after the sale of Szmodics.

Chaddys expectations are on the table. 5 more, Cantwell, a winger, a central midfielder, a keeper and a centre back. Absolutely no chance like, even if its a fair analysis of what we need. But if we fall short, criticism will follow.

The issue with Cantwell financially would always be his wages. Rangers want rid so the fee was never likely going to be an issue, so still a lot of jeopardy. People mention Cantwell and a winger, im not convinced that will be the case even if we can agree terms with Cantwell. Eustace mentioned 4, a full back which we have signed, a keeper (potentially the random Hungarian) and then a midfielder and a winger. Cantwell fits neither of those but he can play wide and certainly isnt going to play/cover where Travis and Tronstad play, where we are short.

Lets be honest. We can all see the hallmarks of what will likely be a very poor window where we may well not see another fee paid. Or if we are lucky, one for a slither of the fees received. Its just simply not good enough and anyone defending it is totally bizarre. Its all getting to the stage of desperation, targets going elsewhere, us scrambling around with the alternatives being inferior and/or not of the correct position/type of player that we need. Infighting with people arguing over who to sign doesnt help. Is Cantwell meant to be the midfielder we want or the winger? Because we need a central midfielder and a fast winger and he is neither. Just seems like dusting down Broughton's old transfer list regardless of whether the player in question suits what we need. I bet there is a good chance that we go back for Ruddy.

Cost? Hes a bloody loan and weve brought in £40m. Its an absolute farce.

I said I dont mind one or two loans as long as we buy a few to go with it. If it is Cantwell loan, keeper loan and Beck, that would be a terrible transfer window and an absolute shambles considering the lack of money spent. If it is that then we are really going to struggle this season and beyond. A slow, thin, imbalanced squad and when the end of the season comes, a skeletal squad with loads of money having vanished.

So the report is that its going to be yet another loan? Great.

We have such a slow team. If Cantwell signs instead of a quick winger then it would sum up our mixed up, random recruitment policy of people arguing with one another. It seems that very realistically, we could end this week with a loan left back, loan keeper and loan Cantwell. Which would still leave us having failed to spend any more money and having failed to address a glaring lack of pace. And it would likely be a long old season.

He reminds me of Nyambe. Really quick but gets so far and doesnt know what to do next. Potential there but not ready yet.

Terrible performance tonight against a poor side highlighting a lack of depth. The attack both that started and ended just is so flat. Gueye is the one that has a bit of pace and physicality but he is very unpolished. Weimann is clearly past his best and not a winger, Sigurdsson did little and Vale isnt up to it. Hedges was dreadful when he came on and Dolan and Ohashi offered nothing either. Rankin Costello is in danger of turning into a jack of all trades, master of none. He was so good at right back and has never got close to those levels since. Duru had some bright moments early on but is clearly very raw and not ready for Championship football.

Why are people so confident that Eustace is a master of getting good performances out of players with bad attitudes? Cantwell doesnt solve the issue we have in attack in that he isnt very quick. Feels like as the deadline looms we are just getting desperate.

It isnt like that. Unless the £2k was paid off already, you then received £400 as a gift and refused to spend any of it on investments, even though any you do spend could and should earn you further money in the future. And you know that you will incur up to £200 a year charges on your now paid off credit card but you choose to keep it.

Can I ask why under these owners, having seen us mess up 3 transfers on deadline day in 2 seasons, having seen us bring in so much in fees and vanish, and especially taking into account reports of internal disagreements between Eustace and the recruitment setup. Why would anyone trust the process?

I feel like of the 4 positions we know we need to strengthen, full back cover is the least exciting and the most understandable to get a loan in. He seems like he had a good spell in Scotland and had other Championship suitors so seems reasonable on the face of it. Loaning a keeper is much less ideal although if we can get Travers or Rushworth then at least we have a significant upgrade. But that has to be the end of the loans. The key to this window is whether we then buy 2 or 3 more on top of that for reasonable fees and spend a bit of money. Definitely a winger with speed, if not 2 then at least another attacker, and definitely a midfielder. I would like at least one player who is quite young, could improve us now and we can potentially develop into a top player, perhaps a Stansfield or a Aasgaard. Sadly, this is where I expect due to our terrible owners and to a lesser extent our messed up management team will lead us to serious disappointment. Todd Cantwell doesnt make any sense in our disorganised transfer planning. He isnt quick or an out and out winger and also we shouldnt go for any more loans. He also seems like a dickhead who could aggravate the dressing room.
