  1. Can I ask why under these owners, having seen us mess up 3 transfers on deadline day in 2 seasons, having seen us bring in so much in fees and vanish, and especially taking into account reports of internal disagreements between Eustace and the recruitment setup. Why would anyone trust the process?
  2. I feel like of the 4 positions we know we need to strengthen, full back cover is the least exciting and the most understandable to get a loan in. He seems like he had a good spell in Scotland and had other Championship suitors so seems reasonable on the face of it. Loaning a keeper is much less ideal although if we can get Travers or Rushworth then at least we have a significant upgrade. But that has to be the end of the loans. The key to this window is whether we then buy 2 or 3 more on top of that for reasonable fees and spend a bit of money. Definitely a winger with speed, if not 2 then at least another attacker, and definitely a midfielder. I would like at least one player who is quite young, could improve us now and we can potentially develop into a top player, perhaps a Stansfield or a Aasgaard. Sadly, this is where I expect due to our terrible owners and to a lesser extent our messed up management team will lead us to serious disappointment. Todd Cantwell doesnt make any sense in our disorganised transfer planning. He isnt quick or an out and out winger and also we shouldnt go for any more loans. He also seems like a dickhead who could aggravate the dressing room.
  3. Do you have a link. Because I have seen 2 randomers put it on twitter and one had the hashtag #atkamifeck so I think its safe to say at least 1 is purely wishful thinking.
  4. These internal disagreements shouldnt be happening 4 days before the window closed with still a decision to be made on who to sign. Its not even about the individual players, we should know who we want by now, its as simple as that and indefensible. Our club headed by our owners and the peanuts they allow us to spend, and it seems that we have too many people trying to give their opinion. Its a shambles.
  5. So 4 days before the window closes and with £40m of fees received, we are still pissing about with internal disagreements and struggling to cough up £1.5m. The club is an embarassment from top to bottom.
  6. Is it time to still be waiting around and deciding between various players?
  7. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24542221.blackburn-transfer-state-play-including-gk-shortlist/ Why with just over 4 days to go are we still at the enquiry and shortlist stages. We should be getting players in for medicals, not pissing about still deciding. Lots of talk about Burnley, they have Sarmiento, Jaidon Anthony and Hannibal Mejbri in for medicals today.
  8. Its not even reasonable to compare to last year because we were so short that the benchmark is so low. We have a fully fit squad, thats the difference and wont be permanent. Hedges and Sigurdsson were injured for the last few months, now they are back it seems like we have more depth.
  9. I dont think Weimann has ever played deeper in midfield and JRC is currently needed to cover 3 positions at the same time.
  10. Think that is a dodgy account that makes up rumours.
  11. Im not convinced why 1 or 2 training sessions would make a noticeable difference in a new keeper understanding his defence and vice versa. But either way, I would weigh up that the likelihood of a Pears mistake is higher.
  12. They werent easy games, no game will be, but they are certainly 2 of the least difficult fixtures of the season. 2 very limited promoted sides that will likely be down at the bottom. Talk about Sky wanting Derby to beat us and that causing pressure seems farfetched and its immaterial. Still warrants praise to win both games of course. Eustace couldnt win any home games last season so to win both of these is a very positive development.
  13. If we signed a keeper like Travers ie one far superior to Pears. He should start on Saturday regardless of training sessions. Even without a training session, that doesnt offset the quality gap.
  14. If you was to read any of my other posts you would see that this isnt my opinion. All im saying is this particular theory doesnt make any sense.
  15. We already know that he is incompetent. But if we dont spend much its again the owners.
  16. I dont really get this idea that we purposely leak transfer rumours to try and pacify fans. After the shambolic failures of previous windows, it would look worse if we said we wanted x and y and then didnt get them.
  17. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Bournemouth have had a breakthrough in talks regarding Kepa and he could go for a medical today.
  18. When you factor in that £10m was in one summer, you soon see that this idea that Venkys have only just started to not invest in the club is untrue.
  19. I dont think theres much in it, which says a lot considering how low the benchmark is in terms of improving on Pears. I also think that the idea that he can do much in terms of helping the other goalkeepers in a year is a big assumption. If we get Ruddy, I would suggest that similar to last year, whoever is in net will cost us far more points than they will save.
  20. Based on current day Ruddy? Declining further as he gets older. Im not entirely sure.
  21. Picking that centre back pairing would be on par with chucking in Clinton Mola last time.
  22. These assumptions presume that the setup here works to 100% efficiency which we dont know. Eustace should never have a player signed that he doesnt approve, that is obvious. But we have brought people in to spend much of their time looking at players, whereas most of Eustace's time will be spent preparing for matches. So if loads of work has been done on various keepers and the end result is signing a nearly 38 year old keeper who Eustace used to manage, IMO something has gone horribly wrong. I dont get why people wont just pass on their own opinions. Eustace obviously is more qualified than any of us but he isnt flawless (like any manager) so it shouldnt surpress our own opinions. If he wants Ruddy, maybe its based on an opinion of him prior to a poor season where Eustace didnt witness first hand a physical decline. Obviously those opinions may change dependant on how the player does. All that matters to any of us is bringing in the best players. But it seems that most are in agreement that Ruddy (and to a much lesser extent Dembele) would not be the right player and it would bring into question the whole setup if the best player from a long list of options just happened to be someone Eustace had at Birmingham. The 2 first home games against 2 promoted clubs who both looked poor will be 2 of the most likely to be relegated. That being said, its not some sort of procession to win any league game and Eustace does deserve credit for winning them. They are two of the easiest/least difficult games we will play all season though, but you still have to win them.
  23. If we dont spend much this week, would you be more angry at Venkys for again failing to put the money in to improve the club or Waggott for saying that nothing is stopping them?
  24. Taking aside the fact that most clubs would use such a influx of fees received to build the foundations of the side both for now and longer term. The idea of a safe pair of hands makes sense, but comparing Ruddy and Rushworth. The former would fit the experienced goalkeeper bill, and the latter would be a young loanee. But when you look into it, Ruddy wouldnt be that guaranteed safe choice because hes clearly on the decline and struggled at this level last season, and is only getting older. So he would not be a safe choice, he would be a big risk. Whereas Rushworth comes off the back of a very impressive season as one of the better keepers in the league, winning Swansea's player of the season. I still am not convinced that he is realistic, but contrary to this idea of an older goalkeeper being a safe stop gap, these 2 options blow that theory out of the water. So it wouldnt be a choice of a solid foundation and stability if we went for Ruddy. He would be the one linked goalkeeper whereby I am not even sure if he would be number 1.
