Wednesday night was his best performance of the season for me. Got it right 9 times out of 10 and set up a wonderful goal. Still got work to do to contribute more defensively but a real gem of a player.

Yeah I agree in some respects, but we still had a bench full last night and JDT actively chooses not to use it unless forced to. Garrett showed the impact a sub can make on Saturday yet no minutes last night when it was crying out for some fresh legs. Hopefully when we get a load back from injury he starts to have more faith in the subs because its a weakness of ours at the moment with the drop in performance/conceding late goals. I also think recruitment wise we need to diversify the type of players we have, its a bench full of the same players. Sometimes you just need a hammer instead of a bench full of screwdrivers! -

My fingers were too frozen to type last night, enjoyed the result and see us rise up the table. I thought performance wise we looked good for about 30mins and awful for 60mins. The parts we looked good in were fantastic and Birmingham had no answer with 3 quick goals, also should have had another 2-3 in the opening 10-15 mins. The Dolan injury was the catalyst for the first half crumble, then in the 2nd half after we scored the third the lads heads went thinking it was over and Brum dominated the remainder of the game. Birmingham also showed how to use a subs bench and change the game, something JDT needs to learn about. How Garrett didnt get on for the last 20mins after Saturdays showing whilst our players flagged is beyond me. Sammy with another great performance and Carter and Hill kept the strikers quiet. We got murdered at our right back by Dembele what a player he could have been for us if Mowbray had got his way. -
Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?

Hardest worker, top goalscorer and I think future captain. Assuming its more a financial reward for him as opposed to getting more years though as he only signed last summer? -
That *was* the January Window

Some news from the club on transfers for January, sounds grim as expected.. SW replied that the recruitment plan would be two fold," the minutes continued. “Firstly, signing of key current players on new contracts. Secondly, there were a number of targets being listed as possible new squad additions but the club would have to act according to the financial position at that time. “Gregg Broughton was making plans both on a short term and long-term basis with his Head of Recruitment and the recruitment team.” https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23952428.blackburn-rovers-update-finances-tomasson-future/ -
v Stoke City (a) - 25/11/2023

Missed the football this weekend due to other things but having read the thread and seen the highlights seems like a much deserved away win! I was expecting a defeat given stokes stature and style, good to see we mixed it up and are learning to adapt. Please can we have a win on Wednesday night so I can go home happy for a change! -
Probably as he has no intention of playing a striker against Stoke. Who needs a striker when you can have a team full of midfielders passing it on like a hot potato near the box 😂

I still feeling deflated from the north end defeat, so think we will lose 1-0. Stoke went crazy with signings over the summer and it doesn't seem to have gelled yet which is one positive going into it. -
If his wage is really low then the length of the contract isnt too bad, as seems to follow a pattern with other recent long term deals under Broughton. If he is on 15k a week or something daft then it seems daft considering his current playing time! Agree with other posters its odd he isnt starting games. Feels a bit like Brereton in his first couple of seasons just never played or got 5 mins at the end of games we were losing. The guy was clearly coveted and scouted given how early we signed him so whats changed?

I dont think we sign anyone in January, looked at the high court order and it looks like it only covers running costs until end of December. So I would assume in January we are more likely to sell someone (Wharton) to pay for the next few months of running costs whilst they are allowed to. If I was a betting man I would wager on us loaning some teenager from a premier league club with the physical attributes of a 14 year old and with little or no starting appearances at any level. -

still feel miffed this morning, having the international break to dwell on it doesnt help. I hope all the gloating from the nobbers is being stored away ready to playback to the players prior to our next meeting. "men against boys" is brutal but I agree with it. -

The personnel helps but this is down to tactics by JDT. The main source of goals is on the counter/transition and we dont really have another plan. It really needs working on as teams like Preston just sat in for the most part and we had no answer. -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
roverblue replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We defend poorly as a team as seen by how easily we concede goals. Nobody works particularly hard to score against us. It’s got better since Tronstad came in as we were getting murdered prior when it was just Wharton. Going forward we pass it out well in defence and midfield, this is the area we have most improved on. However we only really score goals on the counter attack. If we slow build into their penalty area we might as well just kick it out of play we are that toothless. I don’t think individual performances have been that bad. It’s overall tactics and cohesion which is at JDTs door. Obviously if we had better players that would help but you have to work with what you have. -

You must have missed the part where I said iv watched us lose 5 of 8 games at home that iv been to this season. They are actual results. -

At least 1 of them would be start. 3 sat on the bench last night and a team of midfielders on the pitch all passing it on like a hot potato when they get near the box. -

What miracles is JDT achieving at rovers? I’ve watched us lose 5 of the 8 games at home this season and gone home thoroughly miserable. Passing it about nicely with no strikers on the pitch whilst conceding a goal almost every time the opposition attacks is not what I consider over achieving. The hype this guy gets is incredible vs actual results. -

Agree, bringing on Leonard is just another run in behind type player in the mold of Dolan, Moran, Markanday etc. we have seen nothing of Ennis or Telalovic yet. We had the ball on the outskirts of their area loads last night but as usual nobody on the box if they whipped it in. It’s on JDT you need to mix it up and have different types of play and players. He has one way of playing and when it isn’t working just seems to hope for the best rather than switch it up. -

Deflated, had a decent second half but the usual soft underbelly strikes again. Preston barely ventured forward but when they did almost scored every time. We are so desperate for a striker, surely Ennis or Telalovic get a game soon barely seen either play yet. Siggy been awful for weeks so get Dolan out wide and one of the strikers starting. It really stood out tonight how weak our team is we have no muscle or shit housery at all. If we do sign some players in January we need to bring in some beefcakes who can win headers/hold it up/cause a nuisance. -

Really want to win this one as as lot of friends and family support PNE. If we didnt have the crisis at centre half I would be optimistic of a win, but concerned we might get pushed around by Evans or their new foreign bruiser. Guessing it will be Hill and Pickering at centre half, has Hill played for us in the centre before I have only seen him at right back? -
Leopold Wahlstedt. About Damn Time.

The more I see of this guy the less enthusiastic I am about the signing. Fingers crossed he comes good but at the moment surely Pears will walk back into the side when fit. -

Travis been a rock since he came on. Some really good defending vs earlier in the season. Hill and Tronstad have added loads to the team defensively since they came in a few games back -
