  1. Toni Kroos with his best Tugay impression tonight. Liverpool have a mountain to climb already. Madrid look like they could score three or four here.
  2. I've only just caught up with the thread. Really hope the talk of TM being removed turns out to be true. Hoping it's a clean sweep with Waggott and Venus leaving too. It would be a relief and a breath of fresh air just to see a new guy with new ideas in the manager's seat.
  3. I would be if Rotherham were capable of winning their games in hand, but I don't think they can catch us.
  4. This is pathetic stuff. I don't even think it was this bad under Coyle and that's saying something. Comical at the back and don't even look like scoring. An awful recipe. I'm worried about next season.
  5. Yes, I miss those days. There was a genuine buzz and excitement about games before this lot rocked up in 2010. I've mentioned previously how I never used to think about John Williams, Tom Finn etc back in the 2000s as they did a great job in running the club. No manager was unsackable, results mattered and we knew that the board would act if things were going wrong. There was a calm about the club back then, so it was all about the football. I was so into the games that I would listen to the entire Radio Rovers broadcast for midweek games when I couldn't get to Ewood. It was from 4 till 11pm! but I loved it. I didn't bother doing that even once post November 2010. Not surprised that they canned it a few years ago. They've ruined everything else about the club, so why not add another thing to the list. These tossers have bought nothing but chaos and distress to the club ever since they set foot in the place. Seeing what they have reduced the club to and the chancers they have allowed in infuriates me. It angers us older fans more as we know how far the club has fallen and that it's all down to the stupidity and neglect of the owners. I feel for the younger fans who have only ever known this horror show. The L1 promotion is the best thing they have seen Rovers do, so maybe that's why they won't hear anything against Mowbray and constantly refer to Bolton and Wigan when the owners are brought up. Something I always tell them (and myself) is that this isn't the real Rovers you are watching. The real Rovers will be back when these owners do one. The wait goes on, but we gotta keep the hope alive.
  6. I think Gallagher has bulked up too much and it has hindered his game. When we had him under Coyle he was leaner and quicker. He was a lot sharper too. It also helped that we had wingers getting crosses into the box for him. Now, he looks cumbersome and heavy when running. It's ludicrous that he is being asked to play as a right winger, so it's no surprise he looks poor out there. However, he hasn't impressed even when he has played centrally recently as the tippy tappy stuff doesn't suit him. His first touch has been shockingly bad in recent games. We would probably get more out of him if we had actual wingers who put crosses in, but that ain't happening under Mowbray. Football was so much more exciting when wingers used to beat a defender and whip in a dangerous cross. Remember the excitement when Duff or Gillespie were on the ball? The obsession with 'Pep football' has made the game a worse spectacle for me.
  7. Imagine how good a midfield pairing of McGinn and Harrison Reed could have been for us. Then imagine a manager turning down or passing up such an opportunity just so that he could show some loyalty to Evans and Smallwood. Telling Harrison Reed he needs to learn how to play as a centre mid by watching those two and then sticking him on the right wing. Madness! A stupid decision as proven by how good Reed has looked at Fulham as a centre mid. Dwight McNeil was also on his way to sign for us a few years back, until a coach/scout told him what a mess the club was in and directed him towards Burnley instead. Zidane, Dugarry, Lewandowski, erm, Bauer, McGinn, McNeil, Kipre. It's too much 😁.
  8. It's the last resort now that he has used every other excuse: 'Dack and Travis are big misses' 'we've got defenders out injured' 'We're only 20 games into our journey', 'We've had to change our style of play and move on from Danny Graham' 'The condition of the pitch isn't helping our game' 'The ball isn't falling for us in the final third' I wonder how much longer the owners will keep on falling for all of this crap for. He is the manager that Balaji deserves, but sadly it affects all of the rest of us too.
  9. It's all heading that way. The wider media view Mowbray as a 'hard working, honest man, with footballing principles, who has done a great job at Blackburn'. You only have to look at how the Sky pundits talk about him and our so called style of play whenever we have a televised game. Even Sutton trotted out the above on 606 recently to a caller who wanted Mowbray out. When the fans turn on him in the ground, and it will happen the longer this goes on, it's obvious who is going to be painted as the bad guy/s in all of this. I can just see it now, "What do the fans expect", "Tony Mowbray has done a remarkable job", "They don't have Jack Walker's funding anymore". Mowbray has already put the latter out there in a snide way with his "some fans will never be happy, they remember Shearer and Sutton and winning the League" comment. It's a real mess and it goes way beyond results and performances on the pitch, yet the press won't look into why we are so peed off with everything that is going on.
  10. He is simply not good enough. Forget about scoring goals, he can't even strike a ball cleanly. It's ridiculous the amount of shots that he has scuffed, pea rolled and failed to get any power behind. There are strikers all over the country, League 2, Conference, Sunday League, you name it, who can hit a ball better than he does. What I want to know is, who the heck recommended him as a signing? For me, there is no chance that Balaji knew of him beforehand. Somebody recommended him. Who and why? I seem to remember there being a desperate panic to get our transfer budget spent at that time. There was mention of late bids going in for Luke Freeman and Celina which were turned down. Then we go all in for Brereton with the Forest fans left stunned that we were paying £7m for him. It has to go down as the worst piece of transfer business in our history, imo, especially as it was at a time when £7m could have really gone far in strengthening a few areas of our squad.
  11. This really is the pits. If any result was to sum up the owners' run of terror it's losing 1-0 at rock bottom Wycombe. A woeful, hopeless, pathetic performance. Absolutely sick of this garbage. "Mowbray's teams are pleasing on the eye", "Mowbray's teams play attractive football". Some of those Sky pundits need to watch this crap that we have to put up with! I've wasted so much money on ifollow this season yet have only enjoyed two matches. I was suckered in after the Norwich game, but that's me done with the match passes now. I'm not expecting any response from Pune whatsoever. It's a bloody sorry situation seeing our club held hostage by utter buffoons.
  12. £7m and he can't even strike a ball cleanly. There are Sunday League forwards who can strike a ball better than Brereton. He never seems to get a proper shot off.
  13. If we play like we did at Norwich we will win this comfortably. However, we have form for making things difficult for ourselves. I'm going for a not so comfortable 1-0 win.
  14. I suspect that all of this new technology and new systems are going over his head and he hasn't got a clue how they really work. That quote reads like waffle to me where he is pretending he gets it. Why can't we keep things simple? It feels like the more clever and smart we try to be, the worse we actually get on the pitch. Nothing beats seeing a player for yourself out on the pitch, but maybe that's just me.
  15. There have been a few, mostly from around 2001-07, but Tugay tops the list for me. We won't see that kind of quality in our midfield for a long time. Friedel is a close second. Simply an outstanding goalkeeper. We were fortunate to have witnessed such heroics in goal. Bit controversial, but I'd have Lucas Neill in my top 5. I thought he was an excellent defender for us during his time here. I loved his robust style, he was a decent passer and looked to get forward too. He handled tricky wingers like Ronaldo etc quite well, I thought. It's a shame he left on a bit of a sour note, as he was a solid and reliable player for us.
  16. The Norwich fans aren't the only ones. Fans of a couple of other clubs have said Rovers were the best team to visit their grounds this season too. There have been a few "Why aren't Blackburn higher in the league" questions going around online. Millwall and Swansea fans were questioning why they made us look like Bayern Munich during our games with them (Erm, that may be because we actually are like Bayern, lads...ha!) It's frustrating reading such comments as we've wasted another season due to the manager overthinking and trying to be too clever. Had he kept it simple, played players in their correct positions and been braver in games we would have been a lot closer to 6th place.
  17. Enjoyable game that. Good to see us finish strongly. We've been setup wrong far too often this season. Not been his biggest fan over the years, but fair play to Lenihan today. He made some brilliant interceptions.
  18. It feels like every game I look at the opposition and think "these aren't anything special". Same again today. We've been comfortable in the main so far. A bit of bravery goes a long way in this division.
  19. We have a history of doing that, landing a blow on one of the teams at the top end. It happened many times during our Premier League days. Even at our worst, as you mentioned, we beat Newcastle away under Coyle. Yeah, it didn't count for much in the end, but it was an enjoyable result on the day and we put an end to their winning streak. I'd bloody love a win for us tomorrow regardless of the post match reaction.
  20. Feeling optimistic about this game for some reason. I think we're going to win tomorrow. Norwich are due a defeat and won't be expecting much from us based on recent form. We'll get chances to hit them on the break with the pace of Armstrong and Dolan. This might be one of those rare games where things click. Norwich 1-2 Rovers, with me shouting "why the heck did we not play like this earlier in the season" at the laptop.
  21. Comical. The only reason other managers compliment our team is because they see us as a soft touch and of no threat to them. Do you think they would be speaking well of us if we were battling with Norwich at the top? Would they heck as like. Think back to Arsene Wenger crying about Rovers and calling us "bully boys". When other managers don't like playing us and don't want to compliment us that's when you know we are doing well. It's very easy for them to say a few nice words after stitching us up for 3 points. It means nothing.
  22. We're going to beat Norwich on Saturday, aren't we? I can just feel it. They are on a 8 game winning streak and are bound to lose one soon, one that nobody sees coming. I think Saturday is going to be Mowbray's "Old Trafford" moment, a win that keeps him here that bit longer.
  23. Absolutely dire stuff. I don't think the Bristol City defence has had an easier night all season. We never looked like scoring. Saturday is the last £10 I will spend on ifollow this season. If it wasn't against the table toppers and for me having a (deluded) hope of us doing something mad at Carrow Road, I would pack ifollow in right now.
  24. We aren't scoring even if this goes on until midnight. It was the same against Brentford. Pointless possession, no threat at all in the final third.
