[Archived] Villa 1 - 0 Rovers
Mike Graham replied to Flopsy's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Flopsy...nice one. The best question was who do you fear most? ask that question of any eam and they would also struggle to answer apart from Dickov, and that is only because he is such a pain. Anywho I love my annual visit to the Villa apart from the odd rare defeat. A good ground for the Rovers. ps. I hope the police turn up this time to save us from the annual coach bricking. -

does anyone want a lift. I'll be travelling in the Hoghton, Whitnell, Chorley direction. May be persuaded to go to the Fieldens Arms area for the price of a pint! 3 spaces in the car. -

I am confident for the first time this season. Rovers are on a role and i expect another 0-0. Bothwide will miss the target and Dickoffside will harrange like a tiger and miss like a Beamo. Come on you blueboys!! -

I pay over £200 for a BBE car parking space and have to wait until 30 mins after a game to get out of the car park. What are these people whinging if they choose to park for nowt, then they can walk. -
The original question was about inflatables. What about blow up spittting pigs?
-
I was at the game yesterday,JW Upper towards the BBE, anf can usually see and hear a lot. I heard nothing and the first I knew about it was a major reference on radio 5 Live this morning when Steve Bruce was quoted. They did not even mention the score. Just watch the media go big time on this and drag us in the mud. Bruce is using this non event as mind games.

For the first time in years I missed a Rovers home game this weekend (Liverpool). I went to the Rugby League test at City of Mancs Stadium and had a fantastic time. The sad thing is that I didn't even miss watching Rovers and it wasn't until the next day I looked at the score. I did however loan out my ST's to 2 lads who will use them again when i'm away on business. I was chatting to 6 (yes 6!) ex ST holders in the pub last night, all very long term holders and one an ex employee at Ewood, and they all cited a total lack of interest in Rovers, overpaid nancy boys, the cost of watching soccer (eventhough Rovers are competitive with other clubs), and a Club that is now too distant from the fans. These are all similar comments to those in the Observer "the state of football" on Sunday which clearly showed that this is problem across football and inparticular the Premiership. Football needs to take a serious look at itself before it self implodes. -
Stewarding and the club/fan relationship

Alan 75 said it all, I longed for Saturday to come home or away whether it be Ewood or away at Hereford, Torquay,Southend, Old trafford or even Matlock in the Cup. The fun, the excitement the expectant wait has gone. I've already loaned out my 2 ST's for the Liverpool and Brum games. For the first time in well over 30 years I can't be bothered.I'll probably get a s**t load of criticism for this, that your choice. But for the first time ever I don't care, and why...because I do not feel the Club give a toss. -

The Club will do nothing about the corporates. The boxes are £25K per season for a small box, plus booze on top of that. given Rovers cannot let all their boxes, probably the only club in the Premiership to fail to do so, then they are not going to upset these big spenders. -

Trooper, Rovers fans reacted to Boro fans in box backing on to BBE where those in the box were taking the michael out of the Rovers fans when when Boro scored (twice). Police reacted, very slowly mind you, and picked on rovers who in turn reacted. One rovers lad was then thrown down the steps to the concourse. The major issue is a few stand up every game and get instruced to sit down when the visiting fans stand en masse and get left alone; there is also the general issue of being treated like scum. I realise it may sound somewhat pathetic but a lot of rovers fans are sick of the garbage football and being treated like 2nd class citizens. The result is the fans are deserting in droves. This is a very dangerous downwards spiral with no end in sight. -

I've watched Rovers since the late 1960's through thick and rather alot of thin. I spend good money: 2 tickets in the JW; 75% of away games; carparking etc etc and sometimes a fair bit on corporate hospitality for clients and mates. I love my team, no question. quite frankly Rovers are clueless when it comes to the core support. We want atmosphere like most other Premiership clubs not home fans who are treated like morons and not allowed to enjoy themselves. It reminds me of a few years ago with Manure at home and I was in the Darwen End home section with my young daughter; the area was also being used by very p****d corporate guests who were constanty threatening Rovers fans. I stood up for myself as I always will and was threatened with ejection. I complained to Beamish (Commercial Manager) who was on the concourse and he just smiled and walked away like a dummy. I saw the the same person being challenged today and he just walked straight on. quite frankly we cannot afford to loose the core fans, but what is happening is just that. If rovers want a home fans to act like like a regimented group of people sat in their seats and clippy clapping in tune to a sponsored drum beat then why bother going...why not watch Sky and save the dosh for a few slurps and a curry instead -

Thanks for the ideas 1864. The leadership starts with the Club Board of Directors. I have 2 very astute friends with good money and new ideas and plenty of financial experience. They have tried to get on the Board for years but have been blocked by the East lancs/Ribble Valley old f**ts who do nowt for our Club. Both have since invested in other Clubs one of which is not too far South of Ewood. These are lifelong Rovers fans whose money and more importantly ideas are not wanted. in brief what I am saying is the Board stinks. -

1864, that was very well put. but how do we get the Club to listen? Are they interested, do they care, when should we stop bothering to flog ourselves and our wallets? -

Watching on from a distance the police and stewards were seriously looking for a ruck; utter disgrace, more fans banned, more fans lost. Coar, Williams, Jack Straw and George Bush: GET A GRIP!!!! -

do not blame the ref. Tugay was a complete and utter pillock and this was a sending off tackle never mind the earlier yellow and it was 2 or 3 meters from the ref. I cannot see where the next point, never mind win will come from. Perhaps the site should have a betting page with any profit going to pay off the contracts of Reid, Tugay, Amo Neil etc. Also does anyone have the email address for Bob Coar or Williams so they can can understand what the fans really think and home much we really care. Time for a bucket of ale. -
Morph, it's the first time in over 20 yrs that I have left early. What a pathetic joke today. We will be lucky to have 12000 home fans next game at Ewood. The team selection was an insult, yes they are Souey's players but to pick Reid and Amo brings Sparkys tactics into question. this is a relegation side. what else p***** me off is the stewards and the plonker Head and Deputy Steward. From my seat in the Jack Walker I can see how the visiting fans get away with murder and the home fans are treated like s***. The Rovers Board need to get a grip and appreciate the fans because if not they will walk...you only need to see the expanse of empty seats on the Bburn End and Riverside today. GET A GRIP ROVERS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, this is worse than the last relegation side. I am one very very p***** off fan. There are plenty more, did anyone see the scarves etc being chucked in disgust on the pitch from the Jack Walker: life must be bad!!

Yep. absolute complete f'ing joke. Nissa, Tugay, Gresko and Amo (who would fail to win a medal in Athens this week) all need a rocket up their bums. As for fitness I could not believe Nissa keeled over for 5 mins with cramp. To try and be positive Emmerton worked his backside off and MGP looked good. But apart from that headless chickens come to mind; plenty of running around but no direction and no leadership on the pitch. The other positive was that so few turned up to witness history in making. But to those fans who did go the support was excellant from so few. Can't wait for the trip to Charlton -
Apart from some sensible comment from Kammy and Hughesey i've rarely read such sad drivel and related rascist undertones for a long long time. If this is the attitude of the majority of Rovers fans you can stuff my season ticket and the £thousands I spend watching Rovers every season.
