Probably not, but he finished last season at a team that ended up in the top 6, so he’s obviously decent. We still need a centre half though!

I really hope that the people suggesting we play Downing at left back also criticise Mowbray for playing people out of position.... Being real though, I’d rather we just did the unthinkable and didn’t play players out of position!

Ever so slightly over 24 hours to get some defenders signed up. AS IT STANDS, it looks as though we have prioritised spending on a luxury attacker and not defenders that we sorely needed more! This has been a disappointing window SO FAR for the reasons noted above, but believe me, I want nothing more than to be celebrating the reverse of the above this time tomorrow!!

Best of luck to the lad, he’s inferior to every other central midfielder we have. I hope they have cushions on the bench for him to get comfortable. (That’s not to say I don’t respect the job he did for us in league one, I really do, but there’s no room for sentiment in football).

I think a lot are over complicating things so they can have a swipe at other posters. To clarify- it’s not about one game, it’s about the repeated failure to address our terrible defence. Our squad going forward in theory is very strong, but we barely had any shots on target on Saturday, so that’s obviously something that needs to improve. Bennett needs to stop playing at right back. He’s fine as a squad filler, but not starting games any more. 2 days to go to rectify the situation.

Let's be honest, we need to sign some defenders by Thursday. If we don't, it's going to be a really long season. 'Defenders are coming'. 'Defensively, we're fine'. We aren't though, are we?
