  1. Tony Sirico, best known for playing Paulie in The Sopranos has died today. Him and Silvio were my favourites from that show and there were many candidates! R.I.P.
  2. People have said we are relegation candidates ‘as it stands’, I don’t agree, but that’s just their opinion ultimately. If people want to judge the transfer window so far, then I’m not shutting down that viewpoint, as that’s all it is. If I did, this thread may as well be locked until the window shuts. I would personally rather we had been more active in the market so far, as the longer players have to bed in with their new team mates, the better. Particularly given we’re three key players down already. Whatever your views on those players is, they played a lot more than they didn’t last season.
  3. The Grey Horse a bit further up the road may have it on. You might be alright going into Coley’s bar if you don’t have colours on….
  4. I agree that some people are jumping the gun, but the JDT out one was quite clearly taking the piss….
  5. If we shouldn’t judge until the end of the window, or until we’ve played a few games- might as well shut the board down and let the mods have the rest of the summer off…. (Seriously though, that’s not happening, people with different opinions are just voicing theirs, some we agree with, some we don’t. Whatever next?)
  6. Cantwell drives a Lambo, I think it’s safe to assume he’s on far more than any of our squad.
  7. If we can’t afford the wages of Nyambe and Lenihan, we definitely won’t be able to afford Cantwell. Unless Norwich are feeling incredibly philanthropic of course!
  8. I’m not judging entirely just yet, as we always appear to be slow in anything we do relating to transfers. It’s just a bit frustrating we haven’t signed anyone yet, while other teams are well under way…
  9. Declan McKenna and Working Men’s Club will be right up your street then!
  10. No, it was because it’s politics on the football thread.
  11. You not reckon the club could roll their sleeves up and graft a bit to win those fans back? Or make tickets more affordable in the midst of a cost of living crisis though? They really haven’t done all they can at all.
  12. Don’t think anyone has said he’s a bad player, more that he’s well paid and rarely available? That’s incredibly frustrating and had meant overall, he’s been a poor signing. Shame really, as he’s got plenty of ability.
  13. Scott Wharton is definitely over 6”. He lives near me and I see him out and about fairly regularly. Guy’s a giant.
  14. Apart from the other year when it was £43 in the JW Upper against Sheffield Wednesday inc. the match day surcharge?
  15. Ayala will be fine as long as he’s under contract, he’s never fit.
  16. I’ve never understood the comments about the number of pages before a signing. If the club had made some signings, we’d have that to talk about. As it happens, they haven’t, so we haven’t. TLDR- we’ve no incomings to discuss, so we have to talk about outgoings. It’s not all that deep….
  17. If we don’t sign better players than Lenihan and Nyambe, then there’s every reason for ‘doom and gloom’. Particularly if we’re paying Ayala a decent wedge to ensure the physios aren’t lonely….
  18. I’m more than happy to ask anything within reason. (The above is within reason).
  19. Meeting is in a couple of weeks on July 11th, can you send me a DM nearer the time and I’ll make sure it’s asked?
  20. Robinson got really bad, really fast. If it was on target from outside the box, it was a goal. One Ashley Young scored for United from what seemed like miles out, I’ll always remember he should have had….
  21. My main point re Lenihan is querying if we could have afforded to keep him, were we not paying Ayala a nice wedge to be a part timer employee really.
  22. I think the shambles of the situation in losing three players for nothing can be summed up quite easily. Rothwell- he was always going to go, so I’m a bit easier with that one, but it’s incompetence of the highest order to turn down a £3 Million bid from the club the player ultimately ends up at anyway, then lose them for free! Lenihan- if we didn’t have Ayala on the books, would we have been able to afford to keep him? I think it’s a point worth considering, especially given we signed Ayala to a decent contract, knowing his wretched injury record. Nyambe- a bit of a strange one in all honesty. I thought with a change of manager, he may stay, so I suppose this puts to bed the argument he wanted out because of Mowbray. He was good for us defensively, but attacking wise, offered very little if we’re being completely true with ourselves. In all fairness though, if someone gets the opportunity to earn more money elsewhere to do the same job, in what they perceive to be better conditions, then I’d certainly jump ship and I imagine the rest of us would too. That’s why I always find it a bit strange that fans hold footballers to a different standard.
