Attendances: A cause for concern

Rovers are missing a trick for Blackpool make it a tenner across the board and fill the ground with both sets of fans -
What makes you say that? His wages will not be astronomical or in the same league as perhaps a Lampard when he was in charge and indeed the leagues are not awash with moneybags they were 2 years ago !

I would take Rooney as our new manager for next season. The way he had Derby playing football last night with a team of misfits and youngsters, a team made up of players who are free to leave at the end of the season shows that he has the ability to get teams playing for him, and all this on the back of a huge points deduction and administration. Mowbray appeared to me to be a busted flush. It was written all over his face and the half time response from the crowd emphasised that.

Nathan Byrne last night showed he is a more than adequate replacement for Nyambe and he is available on a free transfer -

Take us back to 1991/92 - we had a horrible few weeks when Kenny couldn't get anything right and then it clicked, we scraped into the play offs and the sense of relief as we left Home Park was felt by all sneaking that 6th spot. This is similar, we have thrown game after game, we have shed point after point, losing games we should have won by a mile and a half. We should be sat in a solid 2nd spot but we are clinging onto a top 6 slot. Reading away has to be the most important game for Rovers and not because they are down the league table, its because its the next game, a must win game which sets Rovers up nicely for the International break and a time to relax, regroup and sooth the injured players ready for manic April, because that is exactly what it will be MANIC. Two derby games, 2 horrible away games at Coventry and Peterborough and an Easter Monday classic versus Stoke ending with the inevitable hosting of the Bournemouth promotion party on our own patch ! Mowbray needs to take a long hard look at how he has cost us some serious point losses throughout February and March because of his inability to work out the opposition and how to set up a team who can revert to type, have a plan and have nouse on how to win a game. Thankfully, and with some hope, Bournemouth at home will see the end of his Ewood Park tenure unless somehow he manages a Mowbray miracle and secures the play off miracle/dream of 2022. -

First half was utter shite Mowbray at fault sending 10 men out from the off as Johnson was absent useless and clueless it simply allowed no defending from the front whilst bringing faff all to the team. Had to change second half and bingo a cross to a 6ft4 cents half seals the game. Mowbray has to learn his lesson for the remaining games Saturday is must win. We move on 61 in the bag 4 wins should see us sneak into the 6th spot -

My answer isn’t BBD it’s he way the team was set up, lack of tactics or creativity and an unwillingness to play Hedges or Giles from the off plus senior players not having the bollocks to take a penalty ! -

Absolutely diatribe at times in particular the first 45. Not one player put his foot on the ball, no movement no effort and no creativity. Rothwell was non existent and just strolled around! I made a point on another thread about players thinking they are better than they are and this was a great example! Second half more puff than huff no chances taken and not even the returning Dack could convert the penalty. Proper smash and grab result that ends the season and Mowbrays tenure at Ewood -

The point being that if you are not involved directly you know faff all! Despite whatever involvement in football you might have had unless you are employed at Ewood the point remains -

That’s a one eyed view BB! Rovers pay well and pay what they believe the players are worth, why on earth would they go beyond the structure for players that are at times frustrating and inconsistent? Imagine everyone in the world demanding more money because they just want more and yet don’t do enough to justify the pay they are asking? Dont get me wrong, I would love it if all 3 signed the contracts but on the other hand Nyambe going for nothing isn’t a big issue on its own, I would suggest losing a Travis for nothing by comparison is much worse. Lenihan has been great this season but for me Wharton is a huge star in the making and is a far better player and will benefit from playing alongside Ayala and another centre back if Lenihan does leave. Rothwell is an enigma at times, fast feet, can run at pace but his final ball at times and finishing is poor by comparison. He is a player that is a luxury at times and is one that can be replaced, there are diamonds out there that can be polished. As for the summer, I think Rovers have a recruitment plan in place, it’s much better organised that any of us think or understand. For the time being let’s ride the season out and see where we are in May. -
Travis signed a new contract
1864roverite replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The contracts for the three players have been on offer for almost 2 years it’s down to players and agents not doing the deal. Kaminski, Wharton x2, young Ashley, Dack and now Travis have all signed fresh deals which tells a story if you ask me. Some players may be wrong in thinking they are better than they actually are, some might be being too greedy whilst some might think they are more valuable than the club thinks they are ! If you ask me Rovers have done all they can because imo not one if the three have been consistent or good enough for rovers to even consider breaching the pay structures in place -
Travis signed a new contract
1864roverite replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It’s a great signing. For me, it puts to bed the rank bad views that all is not well behind the scenes because 3 players haven’t signed the contracts offered to them . It emphasises it is the player and not the club at fault. By comparison Travis is a solid midfielder and for me is more important a signing than either Rothwell or Nyambe and if he continues to improve then he could be a very valuable asset in the future. It would not surprise me at all to see one of the 3 players follow suit and sign the contract on offer. -

This game determines our season and how it pans out for the 11 remaining games. It’s a tough call and will be a single goal that takes the points - my last game following from overseas back to Blighty on Thursday 🏴✈️🌞🌞 -

I just don’t see any further progression for this season and I don’t believe that we are capable of sustaining a play off spot challenge. Injuries and mistakes are killing the season -
The Ryan Nyambe Appreciation Thread
1864roverite replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We can dress it up in as many different ways we want but the reality is since a last round of talks last year his agent has refused to engage with anyone at Ewood despite repeated efforts from Rovers. The LTB scenario I painted was to emphasise that to date not a single club has shown any interest in signing RN and NOT a single bud has been received despite the players performances in the team. In fact before Xmas there was one club sniffing around Lenihan and it was based on the manager having previously been interested in him whilst at the helm of another club but the interest was never followed up. The only real interest we have seen was bournemouths pursuit of Rothwell which floundered badly. Bristol City quoted as laying huge wages well faff me they are about to land in the derby zone which again says it all about boom or bust -

The Ryan Nyambe Appreciation Thread
1864roverite replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think some need to understand the situation a little better. Nyambe wants to sign the contract in front of him source is very close to the player it is his current agent who refused to engage with Rovers as he believes he will get a better deal elsewhere however a point worth noting not a single bid has been in for him from any club not even a loan to buy. That tells a story if you ask me. Rovers have offered a good deal and one that would only be bettered by a parachute club. His agent believes he will be playing premier league football next season with a top club! Truth is he won’t unless Rovers go up and he signs a new deal! As for being treated poorly by Mowbray ? I don’t subscribe to those views at times he has been found missing in defence and has cost us goals, granted in some games he has been great and some he has been awful overall he has shown himself to consistently inconsistent on the pitch and that is no one’s fault but his own
