I watched the matched in a packed exhange sq, manchester. However since I was quite far away and could not make out many of the players, and it was baking hot, I left after half time, looks like a missed a gripping 2nd half

[Archived] The Final Curtain - Rovers V Man City
Timmy replied to 1864roverite's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
throught it was a pretty good game being that it was an end of season match with nothing riding on the result. there seemed to be a lot of determination from the players (even 'tho the beach is probably only days away!) overall rovers outclassed city, who in less they improve next season look relegation candidates -
One of the downsides of the increase of TV football coverage is the increase in numbers of football pundits. I would expect there to a union for them there are so many these days....but by far the most annoying of all pundits has got to be Ally McCoist, followed by Andy Townsend, followed by any other ITV pundit. any suggestion?

[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
Timmy replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
when on song and in the right frame of mind Dunn was an excellent player for us. With a few years past since he left as lot has changed and it's never easy going back to your own club. -
It was his debut as well, was it not. Who else made theri debut that day, can't remember?

I remember this game very well, not just for the 7 goals, shearer'ss hattrick. But it was also the "offical" opening of the then recently developed Ewood. And also it was the day of my 20th birthday.

what game was HE watching??? there are few dirty players than Ferdinand -
It's an excellent document, with some very intreasting points and ideas. Some areas the doc hs picked up that I fully agree with 1. Ewood far to "family friendly" with a poor atmosphere. Any chance of getting rid of the drummer-it's just an exscuse for people not to create their own atmosphere. 2. Poor PR/marketing I've been attending rovers matches for 10+ years and I can count the number of promos through the door (during close season only) on one hand. Nobody has ever bothered to cold call me (not that this will work on me-but it might somebody). 3. Cost struture. £31 pounds to see bolton with stadium less than half full. Once you cost in the travel and car parking cost etc-it's about £50. Why ain't prices slashed if they are not selling?

fair to say that since that accident in 2002 he has just not been the same player. IMOHO he has had enough time to prove himself as a ist choice striker to Hughes, but it would appear that he has little faith in him to recapture his form of old. And to be frankfully honest you can't really disagree with him (MH) can you? It's a big shame but that is how life goes sometimes -
since the JJB is in the middle of a rather unattractive out of town retail park (and next to one of the most complex one way systems in the region) you will have to go some way out to have a decent night. I should be going to the match 'tho

I think somebody said about Best. A genius on the field. A liability of the field.

I think you will find the orbitury writers are filling their pens with fresh ink as I speak, if they have not written it already.

for the 1st time in 3 season I'm unable to go to the man city game, due to me having to arrange my 30th birthday do.

well on North West Tonight it was reported that Hendry has left (but has not been sacked or resigned-how does that work?). One time blackburn player Simon Grayson has taken over 1st team duties.

Well the ashes are over and my life can get back to normal (who are the mighty rovers playing this weekend? some team in black and white?). It's been a truly amazing summer and one of the greatest sporting spectacles of all time. 2005 will be forever remembered for the feats of sporting prowess of 22 men playing in white. I am delighted my original prediction that started of this forum has come to pass. Can this forum be preserved somewhere for posterity?

it's an unnerving sight seeing players who had the fate of the country in their hands hammered less than 24 hours latter-funny stuff 'tho!
