  1. All I can say is that Souey's successor at least does much better in the press. So far not only did Hughes get the result we needed, though Im not going to get carried away with that, but everything he says in the press is exactly what I want to hear as a Rovers supporter. From his post-match comments to how he sees the situation in general.
  2. Well the club has tried lowering the price quite often. What was the response like? It may be worth trying, but would have to be done carefully, because unless the fall in price caused a large rise in attendance, we could see a massive fall in revenue. The key really, as was touched on earlier, is finding out who the supporters are who have left, who the supporters are in the region who are possible targets, and why these two groups aren't coming.
  3. He's just finding his level. Which is obviously a few divisions below where he is now. No no, I'm sure he'll end up being a good coach or manager.
  4. No matter what the club does, games like the one on wednesday will always be watched by a small crowd. It's all about getting the Premiership gates up, even if we were Manchester United, the difference between the number of their supporters who would go to a game against a Premiership side versus a cup game against a 2nd or 3rd division side in the early stages of the tournament would be massive. There will never be the interest there.
  5. And remember that I'm not completely English, and grew up in the United States. I'm not having a go as such, just telling it how I see it
  6. Perhaps. Americans take it though. Patriotism and self confidence very regularly turn into falt our arrogance in your country. This seems to be a theme on the messageboard at the moment. I'm really not trying to have a go, just I've seen a lot of this sort of stuff from living in America and now being surrounded by a lot of Americans. It serves you well in many things, but it is damn annoying.
  7. I really think the clubs transfer policy has nothing to do with the fall in attendances. We could be signing players from amateur leagues, and if they went out their and did the business the fans would come back. I really do feel it's all about the results, and quite frankly, over the past 18 months, the club just haven't been getting them on a consistent basis.
  8. Why do we care about the Geordies? I hope Souey unleashes all of his plans up there.
  9. Very well said. Just keep it to a Matteo discussion or something. He plays for us now, no need for it to be brought up over and over again.
  10. The sad state of football is that every club needs its fairweather supporters. So no matter how much those of us who would stick with the club through thick and thin dislike them, the club really needs to go out and win them back.
  11. I really hope that no one gets on Pedersen's back too quickly. He needs time to adjust to the pace and physical nature of the game, very few players walk into the premiership and find it easy, especially at his age. A few seem a bit too happy to point out what he isn't or can't do at the moment, just give the boy some time.
  12. I don't think it matters who's in charge, who the players are or anything of that sort. People will come if we start getting results. Look at Bolton. I know people say "what about when we finished 6th, they weren't that much higher", but I think now the will be a greater appreciation of the success the clug achieves. Am I being naiive, possibly, but if there is anything that will make supporters come back to the club, it's going to be what goes on during those 90 minutes.
  13. For me the only positions where we are really covered is the Goalkeeper and Midfield. Both the defence and up front we will need to bring new players in, hopefully in January, but we could probably make do until the summer.
  14. Im really looking forward to getting my first full match look at him in the Charlton game. I'm not saying he'll be starting, just so far I've only seen highlights, but he looks to be a good player. For once it also seems we have a bit of a selection headache upfront. Dickov is working his socks of and creating problems for the opposition, Stead has shown last season that he can score goals, and good goals, at this level, Bothroyd has pace, power and skill and deserves a chance, while Jansen's goal at the weekend also puts him back in contention.
  15. I voted for Le Saux as he is certainly the best I've ever seen play for Rovers, though it is true I'm not that old. I see Gray has yet to get any votes, which is right, but where has his number 1 fan gone?
  16. Cole has come out and said how he like the fans, players and club, just not Souey. I'm not too bothered Cole is gone, he will fade, remember he scored a few goals early on last season as well with a brace against Wolves and Chelsea. We'll see where he ends up come the end of the season, and if he hasnt scored 15+, then on his wages, the club made the right decision.
  17. Good Call MB I don't like it when supporters develop a "hatred" for their own players, even if they aren't good enough. If they go out and give their all, it's not their fault they were thrown in when they weren't up to standard. I don't think Matteo is good enough to be in our starting 11, as a squad player I think he could be useful, however, he hasn't done anything that I know of that could possibly make anyone dislike him.
  18. Amazing how one win can change the general atmosphere of this board. It's great to have a positive feel, but we did only win one game.
  19. And possibly many were simply confused and didn't understand quite what had happened.
  20. "Blackburn's other problem has been winning at home, surprising for a club with such passionate supporters." That's an interesting way of putting it haha. He talks well about our club, nice little article.
  21. It seems the only time he puts in that extra effort is when he's swinging his fist towards a defenders face, "applying pressure" I suppose he'll call it.
  22. This is why football fans always annoy me. If you lose, they always find chances you should have scored, and disregard any other chances the opposition had. If you win, they always find chances the opposition should have scored, and disregard any other chances that you yourselves had. In this case, we ignore the fact that we went close to scoring on several other occasions, and choose instead to say that the score should have been 3-1 to them. Where is the logic in that? We took a chance, they didn't, that's a pretty important part of the match, and so we won. Maybe they should have had a penalty, but we should have had about 50 between now and when we last had one, and just think back to the Southampton game, we deserve to get some luck, we have a lot more to come until it balances itself out.
  23. By the way you talk you would think that Hughsey is playing Maybe he has come he to get his career started again?
