  1. Maybe he will take Evans off of our hands'
  2. Some things (most things) are bigger than football. I am happy to have Southgate in charge. I think he has totally changed that attitude of the England team and players and I am proud to have someone like him in charge when dealing with such an important moment in English/European/World football. If nothing else we can guarantee that he will always conduct himself with a degree of class and intelligence. That is a wonderful example to set.
  3. I would play Downing as a left wingback.
  4. Might see us make the full switch to three at the back (which I would be in favour of).
  5. Or we thought it was worth taking a punt on a player who has struggled with injuries, but are being cautious with his development?
  6. I don't understand this debate. Chapman's career has been derailed (saying derailed to a player who never established himself is already kind) by injuries. He has joined us permanently with the first focus being on making sure that he is fully fit and able to have a sustained period of availability. Good for him that he's managed to string a good month together, but there's no point giving him gametime only for him to break down in his second game. After proving that he can play for a sustained period of time, he then has to prove that he is good enough to be ahead of certain players. I am sure that he gets this. I am sure that the squad gets this.
  7. I always thought he was decent at spurs and that level is more than good enough for us. Has said all the right things. Seems to have matured and turned into a true pro. Hopefully he could be a good influence on our squad. I sometimes fear that we have a bit of a wide boy culture, so adding a serious pro with a good pedigree could be just what we need.
  8. 4ish in my time - Sergio Peter, Pelzer, Babbel, and Jermaine Jones (may have played for the USA, but he was really German).
  9. Right to the top? Of what? The Championship? No way he is a top-class keeper in the making. Could he do a job for a premier league side? Probably, at some point. But we will never hear anyone saying that Raya is one of the best keepers in the Premier League.
  10. Most badges are also terrible.
  11. That's much better - although I see no need to have Blackburn Rovers written around it...just makes it look like a crappy graphic design job. The badge can speak for itself.
  12. I am not a huge fan of our current badge and I think modernising it would help with the branding of the club and the ability to make attractive wear to sell to supporters. I know that saying something like that is likely to get criticised by many on here who will claim that I have no respect for the history of the club, but we have changed badges before and the current version is just ok in my view. I would love a version with just a throwback to the usage of the Maltese cross or a simple redesign with just a rose.
  13. Seems like a perfectly fair comment to have made about him. Not throwing him under the bus. Not denying that he has talent. Simply stating that he has to work harder if he wants to get into the side. Earlier in the transfer window - 'We want Mowbray to be open and honest about things in the press' After the window - 'Why is Mowbray speaking openly about team matters?' There's a reason why Chapman has spent a career out on loan, he needs to figure out how to work his way into a side. Maybe this will work.
  14. I'll preface this by saying that I know that this is unlikely to bring any results, but I thought that it was worth a try. I am doing some fundraising for expats in France who are being hit a bit hard by the pound losing value (typically pensioners) and we are organising a charity auction where the goal is to include interesting items that relate to the person donating them. For that reason I am hoping to get my hands on 3 signed Blackburn shirts (2 for a raffle and one for a silent auction) - ideally with the full squad signing them, but if not at least a few key members. Hard to come by from over here, but if anyone on here knows someone at the club that might be able to help it is for a worthy cause and it would be greatly appreciated. I will reach out to the club directly but thought this might be worth a go first. I have a bit of time, although not a ton, as the auction is at the end of September.
  15. You can’t have it both ways. ’Mowbray rips into his players and it is wrong’ ‘No one in football says anything bad about each other and that’s why the players are staying quiet’
  16. For all of this talk about how he has lost the dressing room and that the players don't like him, it is maybe worth giving this a read: https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stewart-downing-interview-summer-options-16753051 Players are obviously going to say nice things, but Downing specifically mentions how he impressed them in their first meeting and how Mowbray has created a buzz around the place - all of this in an interview in which the focus is really his time at Boro, their prospects, and his return. Worth a thought.
  17. No, just commentary and extended highlights not too long after it was all over.
  18. What a depressing statement.
  19. Brereton needs game time and confidence and he isn't nearly half as bad as some on here make out. That isn't me saying that he will ever justify the (potential) transfer fee or the decision to focus on that area of the squad, but you can't rush to judgment on a young player who has still yet to have a run of games where he gets to start. Just for context, for all of the Danny Graham love that there is in here (and I am not saying that it is wrong) let's take a look at his stats early in his career and his stats at Sunderland after his 5m move (now, yes, by this point he had shown that he could score goals, but it is a sign that you shouldn't judge a player based on 12 months and a handful of appearances). We should know that better than anyone, the last young English striker we did this with was Kevin Davies...
  20. I like the approach. Giving a couple of fringe players a chance with some youth. Should be good enough to win. Protects key players in the first team. Hopefully someone impresses.
  21. There are several key differences. Graham isn't the captain, so it doesn't put Mowbray in a situation where he has to leave his captain out every week. Graham is an attacking player, so he can be on the bench and make an appearance in virtually every match. If we are winning he will be brought on to hold the ball up and to help us see the game out, if we are losing then he will be brought on to help us find a goal. Unless there has been an injury or a sending off, you don't often bring on a central defender.
  22. It appears that it will be.
  23. Both players have started for other Championship sides in the past and would certainly feature for the vast majority of teams in this division. To argue that neither one would even feature for any other side in this division is ridiculous. Or, a team that had several options up front (including one that we also tried to buy last season) decided that the money could be used to strengthen other areas of their squad and that they didn't have the place in their side necessary to develop a younger player. Additionally, I'm not particularly bothered by the fact that Birmingham didn't want to sign him permanently considering the fact that they instead decided to bid significantly more for Dwight Gayle.
  24. Impossible to take that comment seriously.
  25. Johnson headed wide inside a minute when he should have scored. Gallagher headed wide. Johnson took too long. Dack was marginally offside in a situation where he had no need to be. On top of that we put a number of other decent crosses into the box and also had Armstrong's shot from distance that went just wide. Was it fantastic? No. was it as terrible as many are making out? No. More importantly - was it an improvement on last week? Yes.
