  1. Overall it was a much-improved performance. Fulham are quite possibly the best side in the division and 2-0 flattered them. If we play like that consistently we will finish top half and challenge for the top 6 - especially when/if the fullback play improves. After last week I was deflated. After this week I am cautiously optimistic.
  2. Quality goal from Cairney, but should have done better at closing him done. That being said, they wouldn't go in that often.
  3. For details - Rovers have started well. Pressed Fulham high up the pitch and limited their ability to use the ball when they've had it. Fulham just had two half chances to score, but up until then hadn't really threatened. Rovers have looked good going forward. Done well to get the ball wide and have put some good crosses into the box. Should have have scored right from kick off really, but overall a far better performance against one of the best sides in the division (so far). Even if everything falls apart in the next hour I've seen enough to know that Tosin needs to start every match and that this midfield and attacking setup will trouble sides. Bring in Nyambe and Cunningham and the team could really be good.
  4. Having a central defender with pace...what a luxury.
  5. Looks OK in the end.
  6. Yep, Bennett could be out for a while. So, one way or another the fans are getting what they want.
  7. Maybe he understand that Rovers don't want him showing their hand well before the match? I know it is crazy that supporters don't get ALL of the information that they want EXACTLY when they want it.
  8. Normal to not start a player that's only been with the team for less than 48 hours. Normal to not include a left back on the bench. Like the midfield and attacking selection and if we slot Nyambe, Cunningham, and Lenihan into the back four I would like the team a lot. This was always going to be a difficult match, but if we can at least show a better performance I will have a bit of optimism for when the full side is out there in the coming weeks.
  9. Or the plan is that Tosin and Lenihan are the clear first choice pairing and that we have enough cover in the existing squad. Or we are planning on signing a free agent to add additional cover.
  10. Nooooo....don't use logic and reason. Reliable sources have told me that at around 14h yesterday, Mowbray spun a wheel with every player's name on it and decided to sell/loan out whoever it landed on. He also made no inquiries about players until after lunch yesterday. All in all, it was a productive afternoon.
  11. Overall I think it is a decent window. The only concern is CB really, which puts a lot of pressure on how good Tosin is (then again, if you are highly rated by Guardiola there's no reason why he shouldn't be first choice), and the possibility that we might be able to strengthen with a free agent signing.
  12. No, it doesn't. It may just show that Mowbray realised that Mulgrew put him in an impossible situation. Tough to drop your club captain in a position where he is unlikely to ever be subbed on.
  13. Have you ever considered that either: - We did try for him earlier and things only got moving late in the window. or - Southampton only made him available late in the window.
  14. If nothing else, that should teach everyone a lesson when they try to judge a player based on what 'WBA fans are saying'.
  15. Well, we did bring one in and I would say there is a good chance that at least one is signing in the next 50 minutes.
  16. 90 minutes is a long time at the end of a window. Plenty of time.
  17. Square peg? He’d be absolute quality. I won’t believe it until I see it, but if we somehow got Murphy and some central defender to bolster options I would consider it a successful window. if we sign no one, which I expect, it will have been a poor one.
  18. Honestly, I should report this post.
  19. Yes, who would I rather have playing out wide in a 3 man attack: Wayne Rooney or Danny Graham? Hm...
  20. Rooney seems like just the deal we should have been after. Must still have a house in the area, so would have been more convenient than Derby. Great experience to pass on to younger players and could definitely still do a job in the Championship. Would be just the kind of big name the owners were desperately after when they first joined. He might turn out to be rubbish and a horrific coach, but it would have at least generated a bit of interest.
  21. Huh? What an arbitrary set of figures to throw out there. This window has shown that every club (including the likes of City and United) are struggling to get deals done. Clubs want more. Players want more. Hopefully, we can get something done in the next 72 hours.
  22. No. Because Palmer would be 3rd choice for 1 spot. Personally, I would be starting Brereton now, but in the very least I would have him as second choice for 1 spot (with the possibility that we could actually play 2 up front). So, no, not quite the same as the Palmer situation and we are now discussing players that we should add to our current squad - not decisions that were made 12 months ago. We have the squad that we have now. The question is how can we make it better.
  23. God, the f*cking Brereton discussion. Did I sign him? Is he the counter-argument to every point that is made? I personally think Brereton will turn out to be good. Would I have spent 7m on him over signing players for more important areas of the squad? No. Do I think he deserves to be given a little bit of slack on this messageboard? Yes.
  24. I am as frustrated as anyone on here by our transfer activity and the way we started the season but can people please stop analysing what managers say in public. Some managers will happily throw their players under the bus (Mourinho). Some managers will defend their players until the very end (Guardiola). What a manager says in public is not a reflection of how he feels, what he says to the players, or what he will do. Be critical as you want of our actual transfers and how we played yesterday, but let's stop pretending that Mowbray drinks some truth serum before he steps in front of the press.
