  1. Would you not go to the pub then if the games weren't on? I struggle to believe that anyone who regularly goes to the pub to watch games only goes because of the football. If they had gone to the game they probably would go to the pub after. The only real solution to this sort of problem is to use an American style system where the game isn't shown within a certain distance of the ground, but that is now virtually impossible with the various sources of tv. As for diverting money from Murdoch to the pub landlord, you aren't. The foreign tv will have legally purchased the rights to the game, so the big guys will have got their cut. The only thing you are doing is taking money away from the club. If you think live footy is overpriced at the current prices that our club is charging then you'll never be satisfied. I'm sure the majority of those who skip the game to sit in the pub spend just as much, if not more, in the pub then they ever would have at the match. It's a poor excuse. More to the point, if you want to encourage clubs to take steps to reduce prices you have to reward them when they do, if not they won't see the point. If you think paying an average of 15 pounds for a game (or whatever you can get now) is too much and there isn't a sufficient increase in attendances to make up for the reduction in price then the club will simply increase the prices in the long run. I'm not going to be really critical of anyone choosing to go to the pub or any pub running the risk by showing it, but if you are caught then I don't think you have a leg to stand on really. I certainly wouldn't do it.
  2. So they should just allow it to continue knowing full well that it is both illegal and a factor contributing to why people don't attend the games? If the clubs are unwilling to cooperate then it is the only way. See you there Phil.
  3. Wahey one more to the little working class man! If you want your club to be around in 20 years time then turn up and fill the stadium.
  4. Does anyone have Madden '08 yet?
  5. Well it either had to be in front of him or behind him. Until it is improved we can't exactly hide it. Great clip though.
  6. Not really the best part of the game, but it's ok.
  7. Chuck Berry is the king of rock and roll for me.
  8. It's a good game, although I feel you have to put in a lot of effort to get into it, once you have done that you'll enjoy it.
  9. It's ok matt...we won't judge you for liking them.
  10. The Strokes are ok, "is this it" was a good album. Linkin Park on the other hand are horrible, although I will admit to having bought their first album way back when.
  11. Agreed. It is a game that just doesn't quite do it, although I haven't finished it yet as I don't really feel like putting in the effort.
  12. He's probably talking about in all competitions, afterall Benni didn't score 20 in the league last season.
  13. Next summer he'll be 31? It's unlikely that many of the big clubs would still be interested. It is quite clear that Chelsea are the only big team looking at him and unless he hits 20+ goals again this season then I don't think they will still be looking at him next summer, even then I doubt it. He's worth keeping.
  14. I was quite excited when I thought this was going to be a one player career mode like they do in various other sports games, but now that it appears that it simply allows you to take control of a single existing player I find it less interesting.
  15. I've found the ports that need to be opened and I think I have done it (exceptions on windows firewall thing), but still no luck.
  16. I have a friend who has fully functioning internet but for some reason he is unable to connect or host any fm games. Has anyone come across this problem before or know how he can fix it? We're pretty sure it is a problem with his router, but I can't really understand why it isn't working.
  17. Well, it would be interesting to find out what his wages actually are. He can't possibly be on 60k a week, but the only other thing that would make sense given the figures being stated in these articles would be that he is earning $8 million over 5 years, but that would put him on only just over 12k a week. The other thing that I can think of is that it is 8 million US dollars, which would be over £15k a week, which is a bit lower than the 20k you would expect.
  18. He hasn't quite replaced Viera, but Viera hasn't been the same player since he left either.
  19. Totally agree. Wenger, like Ferguson, has got pretty much every transfer decision correct, particularly when letting players go and has also shown himself to be more than capable of replacing star players. I think it is also easy to forget just how little Henry played last season and the fact that he didnt score a league goal after February (I think). Arsenal will be weaker, but it is more than enough money to bring in a good quality forward and Wenger could easily find another star from somewhere.
  20. You can't stand still, but that doesn't mean you move forward by selling your best players. We need to hang onto the likes of Benni, MGP and Bentley, whilst at the same time improving the other areas of the team. It will probably be quite some time before we are in a position where that type of player should be sold because we have found a much better replacement.
  21. Berbatov has recieved 50% of the votes so far, simply crazy.
  22. I can also give Forza a very good review. I'm not big on racing games, but this is a very, very good one.
