  1. The club football record Pat Kruse of Torquay, not sure about the England record.
  2. Not really a game that was going to suit Tugay in my opinion. We need the fight of Savage and Reid to try and win the midfield battle, shame we can't have him on the bench though.
  3. Each person is free to spend money as they like so please, don't think I'm having a go, I can understand if you choose to spend your money on other things apart from tickets to Rovers games. However, you were always opening yourself up by saying that on a Saturday you spend nearly twice as much on alcohol as it would cost you to go to a Rovers game, I don't think you'll get much sympathy.
  4. The only good news of the week for us so far has been the Arsenal draw and one other grain of hope. In amongst all those figures of how much Premiership players earn I think there was a stat that said around 53% (I think) of the players would be in favour of a salary cap. Now of course I'm sure these are the 53% outside of the top clubs who stand to lose nothing if a wage cap was put in place, but if there is any hope of the Premiership ever moving towards a league where at least half the league go into the season with thoughts of possibly winning it then this would be the way.
  5. Wishful thinking 3rd Pillar. Sky own the broadcasting rights, if they see this coming they will simply cut off the option of cheap foreign broadcasts by increasing charges. The money is in football now and I'm afraid to say any situation in which money drops out of the game will simply lead to clubs like us going under. The dream of a time when the money will be removed and suddenly we will all be on a level playing field simply isn't going to happen. I dread to think what would happen if decisions like this became the norm and we started losing TV money and fans to foreign broadcasters, there is no way we could survive.
  6. I would have said the same about them playing against Pompey. You never know in football.
  7. The thing is Tris, as you mentioned at the beginning, I'm not sure how different things would be in France even if they didn't have every game on TV. At the moment there simply isn't the interest level in the French game. People are becoming interested in other sports and even if they are interested in Football they are often simply supporting foreign teams. While some violence between fans has put a lot of people off going to the grounds.
  8. Yeah, it goes from bskyb to foreign channels, so it is up to them to negotiate the deals. The Premiership is very popular, people will pay more for it than they do now. I certainly think he can afford to increase the price by enough that even if they lose customers they'll still make as much if not more.
  9. Only if we make the Champions League Waggy.
  10. The thing he'll have to do is simply renegotiate his deals with foreign broadcasters when the deals run out. That's the only way he can stop himself from slowly losing sky subcribers and also possibly losing the rights to the Premiership once the football clubs become unhappy with losing fans to Greek TV.
  11. Well that has helped us out quite a bit.
  12. Dream Over!
  13. 3-2 Boro now. I want Charlton to win. Chartlon - Liverpool final would be nice (it's all relative).
  14. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Sunderland's only home win of the season is going to come against Arsenal.
  15. Let's just say that the TV broadcasters got it just right and managed to compensate us for lost revenue in attendances with TV money. That sounds like a good deal, wouldn't happen, but sounds good. However, clubs like United, City, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and a few others would still have the combination of simply enough supporters and enough die hard supporters that I think even if all of their matches were on TV they'd sell out every game. Now they would get as much TV money as us, on top of that they would get more money from the fans, not only would they have more showing up but they charge more as well. To top all of this off, how many players would choose to play at Ewood Park where you could be lucky to get 15000 when you could play at the COMS in front of more than twice as many?
  16. Bad news in my opinion. Legal foreign tv in every pub and one less reason to go to the match itself.
  17. Beckham and Scholes were very good at the corner move, I can't remember ever seeing a clip of someone doing it before they did.
  18. Another spectacular finish from a tight angle was Emerton's against Charlton, perhaps even better. I doubt he'll get many votes though. I think it is one of those things where the more recent goals will benefit from being fresh in the mind.
  19. Could it be arranged somehow that we give the player that wins some sort of notification of the fact that he is the winner?
  20. Whoops, sorry meant his second. Got the Free-kick and the Rio one the wrong way round.
  21. I think Bentleys first against United should also be added just for the humour factor. My actual vote would go to Tugay though.
  22. I have no idea whatsoever. I can't for the life of me think of anyone who has played for all four and I'm sure Hendry must have scored goals or own goals at his other clubs so I'm sure I'm wrong.
  23. Hansen wasn't scatching of Blackburn. I've met very few Sunderland fans who thought he should be sacked and that certainly wasn't the impression they gave in the media either. As for it being that easy to get Ireland to qualify for the World Cup ahead of the Netherlands and then make it past the group stages (when he didn't have Roy Keane and Robbie Keane wasn't in the same sort of form he is this season) why hasn't it been repeated since he's left?
  24. You know they would probably say the same about us having a go at them as being underqualified to be on TV.
