  1. Fair enough I can see why lots of people don't like Boumsong, but I saw more of him in France than I did of him at Newcastle (where I have seen the highlights...if you can call them that) and at Rangers (where I understand he did very well). He was excellent in France and that is what I'm basing it on, I don't think you can turn into sch a bad player when you showed yourself to be such a good one. As for McCarthy, what he did for Ireland was really very impressive and you just have to look at what they have done since to realise just how good a manager he must be. Fair enough he failed with Sunderland this year and in fine style. They never got the rub of the green though and even though they are a pretty poor side they deserve more points than they have picked up. History is littered with good managers who have failed at one club or another. I'm not saying he is a fantastic manager but I think he certainly knows enough about football to be a pundit for you or I .
  2. Why was that funny?
  3. Any news on whether an xbox tourney will ever be possible?
  4. Hm. Well that isn't right. Maybe they got Amo and Peter mixed up.
  5. Sunderland fans love him though, so I doubt that. Also, you are talking about one of the most successful managers in Irish history. A man who's international pedigree cannot be doubted. True things didn't go well this season, but he got Sunderland promoted last season don't forget. He knows his stuff about international football and world cups.
  6. He can't have been out since Christmas, he has played for the first team since Christmas.
  7. Hmm...this seems to be something Hughes is teaching the boys.
  8. 4th place is still to play for. We see games against teams like Pompey as being difficult, no reason why it shouldn't be for Arsenal as well, they've been in good form but didn't impress me all that much today. It's tight and there's no reason why we can't put a good run together and get it.
  9. It has been discussed, on the Lawro thread was it?
  10. I don't even think his set pieces are that good. His corners look impressive because the keeper has to tip his attempts to score over, but how often does he put a ball in the right area for someone to get their head on. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good player, but for the last 4 or 5 games he has been poor.
  11. Moscow's inclusion is a bit different. Back in 1993 the semi-final was played as a group stage rather than four teams going into two, but as it was the round before the final it technically counts.
  12. You are right McClarky, but with London now being added there are six. Glasgow, Moscow and Dundee are the other three.
  13. You'll struggle to find anywhere cheaper than that around that area though, certainly not in an expat bar I don't think. On a monday I know a bar that offers 2 for 1 on their own bottled beer for 5 euros, they'd put the game on for you probably, but you're talking about going to the latin quarter (doesn't take too long and isn't very difficult but it just depends on how far you want to travel and if you want to be able to just walk back.
  14. Its a rule that on loan players can't play against the team they are on loan from.
  15. 1. Pele 2. Dino Zoff 3. This is a guess, but Italy, Germany (including this time) and France. 4. Philips Sport Vereniging 5. Royal 6. Well, it means shield, because it's the coat of arms and they win the right to have that put onto their uniforms. 7. I know there's a Young Boys in Switzerland, not sure about Old boys. Guess would be Switzerland, Belgium, Holland or just as a longshot, South Africa. I've really narrowed it down. 8. Again not sure, but I want to say Tranmere.
  16. Sorry Colin!
  17. Are you talking about the Charlton game in the league cup? I was there, just phone died and couldn't meet you all. Or was there another time that I can't seem to think of? A lot of bars will have sky and will put on whatever you want for you. If you are talking about meeting up for a drink and to watch a match then I'd be happy to meet you somehere. As you're in the 8th the closest bar that I like is the Freedom. Monday night they have a pool tournament there though so it will be quite full, if you're any good at pool though it's worth having a go. The PSG is being played then, 18:15 I think though, so yes stay away from the Parc des Princes on Tuesday afternoon unless you have a ticket. Let me know what your plans are and if I can help out in any way. Tickets are still available and the prices range from 14-80 euros.
  18. Still one of the best around though.
  19. Yes, but they make an annual profit of 40 million or something don't they? It's a nice thought, but let's worry about our finances.
  20. Yes, but they will have compensated for that fall in income through the league cup run and this new record breaking shirt sponsorship deal. It won't be easy and will take some time, but the club is in a much safer position than all but one other club in the premiership, that being Chelsea.
  21. Not going to happen. The club itself still makes a huge profit, once they pay off the debts they will be in a very sound financial position.
  22. a) when did this actually happen? why do you need the ref to blow for halftime? you could just score as many own goals as you wanted without them touching the ball.
  23. I'm not sure whether we should play Tugay in this game. They might just close him down and it could really hurt us.
  24. He's already ruled that out. I'm thinking it has to be a situation where teams are scoring own goals. There doesn't seem to be any other way. I know there have been stuations in which teams have intentionally scored own goals. It doesn't really seem to make sense though, please put us out of our misery.
