Ipswich and Norwich fans must be sympathising with us. And so too must Juventus fans...to see their bitter rivals Torino overtake them into the top flight as they go in the opposite direction. May 2007 will be a very very sad day for Blackburn fans everywhere.

Bring back Hodgson!

I wish I'd gone but work in London is just a killer. However, I was in a pub in south kensington and they were going to show the spurs match. I worked my charm and actually managed to make the barmaid change all the screens to Eurosport in order to show the rovers game. OK we had to sit through women's Denmark vs Australia match (friggin FIT striker scored the winner for Denmark) but it was all worth it. Based on our first half, I'd say we will NOT win the UEFA Cup. When a team like say galatasaray drops into the UEFA cup, their strikers will make mincemeat of our defenders. However we had o settle for a team like Basle who tired themselves out too early and we won 3-0. Reminds me of last season then when we completely dominated the game at Ewood but Newcastle won 3-0 out of nowhere...

On paper. In reality, Blackburn 0 Basle 2 3 defeats in a row becomes 4... becomes 5...6...7...who knows where it will end? Bolton went on a 11 consecutive loss run last year. Rovers to follow suit?

Really enjoyed it reading this thread. Hats off to RTM for keeping up the desperate charade and hats off to Steblock Holmes for an outstanding piece of detective work. I feel like I've read a thriller!

[Archived] Wisla Krakow Match Chat

I've been to Poland twice (in fact krakow twice) and I have to say that this does not surprise me. The polish fans used to abuse their own player during international games (can't remember the name but he was black). He started scoring goals for them and I think helped them qualify for the world cup. Although the abuse towards him died down, it didn't entirely disappear. I went to Aushwitz and I got the impression that polish people were so quick/desperate to point out what one racist man did to them during WW2 but the sheer hypocrisy of some of them to then treat black people in this manner, well I hope UEFA punish these @#/?s. -

Being a witness to his unique celebration dive (all of what 5 times?) £500,000 Seeing him come off the bench and score the winner vs West Ham £800,000 Seeing him score the last ever goal of the '05/'06 season £300,000 Watching him run his socks off a la dickov £500,000 Watching him cross a pearl of a ball to Gamst to score a beauty vs Fulham £400,000 Splitting your sides seeing his first (and usually last) touch PRICELESS So Rovers did indeed get every penny's worth out of the guy. ...it would have been more appropriate for Rovers to pay Palace £2.5m to take Kuqi off our hands. Incidentally, if we do meet Palace in the FA cup, I'm going to put a hell of a lot of money on Kuqi scoring against us... and you all know it'll happen... -

Clear penalty decision went against us (and the cheek of that @#/? pole to suggest Neill had dived!) Against the run of play, they score and you always fear that knowing Rovers, we could end up playing well and losing 3-0... ...except we don't have Souness at the helm anymore. Rovers looked very professional tonight (apart from Bentley chasing someone after the final whistle to give him some) and full credit to Mark Hughes. First ever away win in Europe! Come on!!! The only bad point of the afternoon was that the match finished at 17:30 which is exactly when my boss walked into the pub and saw me but je m'en foutais!! -

Ashley Ward - His sitters always managed to make me laugh despite the circumstances. -
Liverpool 0 Referee 3 Rovers 0 0 points it is then. To me, referees are not made of stern stuff these days - an Anfield crowd will influence the result.

I don't even know which country some of the teams are from: Braga? (fashion design?) Mlada Boleslav? (sounds like a bulgarian butler to me) Zulte Waregem? (isn't that the name of the next James Bond baddy)
-
We have Parma and Lens
-
Makes 26 goals which is an awful lot against one team. Man must have a vendetta.

Sounds like a fairytale debut to the Premiership to me.

Only saw the highlights on motd but it appeared we wer very lucky. Boro had quite a few chances that only just missed the goal and one of their players got an alarming one on one situation handed to him on a plate. Do that again Rovers and you won't get 3 points!! -
