1. I had just been snorkelling for half an hour when I got a text from my mate about Rovers going 1-0 up. Then my phone died. What a rude shock I got on Sunday. Did we lose 3-1 to West Ham? Did Mark Hughes think Bellamy would be the only signing he would need. West Ham themselves were quite busy with bringing in new faces. Oh well, time to hit the beach again. Man, it's so peaceful here! Tomorrow I'll have forgotten we lost our opening game. At least we're not in the relegation zone!
2. I lived in Paris for a year studying at the Sorbonne. Used to meet up with my french girlfriend after class on Rue Mouffetard and the nearby square was teeming with youngsters every friday (latin quarter). Jardins du luxembourg is worth a stroll too. Going on from Eddie's recommendations, take your lady to Place des Vosges (spelling?). Calme, tranquille et bien pour vous reposer. It's near the marais, which is a lively area for bars (it is a gay area though!). I went to pere-lachaise once and found a "jim morrison" tucked away in the corner with no tourists nearby or any flowers or anything. Surprised but I thought it was worth taking a pic. Then later on found the real "Jim Morrison" grave!! On another note, I'm flying out to Annecy tomorrow!
3. I've just spent 2 weeks in the city of Rome. Nothing was burning there although it did get friggin hot on 2 days. Nice city anyway.
4. It appears that anyone disagreeing with your rather obvious extreme right views on this thread is likely to receive a flurry of insults from you. Why do you feel this is necessary? Why do you have to resort to insults to make your point? I've read this thread through and post after post, you seem hellbent on hurling insults to people and then have the temerity to write the above quote!! I guess everyone has a right to their opinion. You are entitled to your views which appear to be underlined by a resentment of muslims altogether just as much as others are entitled to theirs.
5. Well, here in Birmingham it was pretty manic when my friend and I tried to go out on saturday evening. We had 3 controlled explosions which turned out to be "false alerts". Couldn't sleep sunday night due to the police helicopters buzzing around. Just when you think they've gone for good, like mosquitoes they return hovering.
6. I guess we have to accept that there are people out there (and on this mB it seems) who harbour extreme and deep resentment towards anybody they cannot accept as their own or who they decide will blame for their problems. When their views are challenged, they revert to defensive mode and start hurling insults. (there's one very obvious one just 5 posts up) I was perhaps naive enough to think this mB didn't really have these sort of people (after all the digs we had at the town of Burnley for BNP's relative success there!) but obviously and evidently I was wrong.
7. But the moment you start thinking along those lines and wanting to act on them, in my eyes you are no different to the @#/?s of yesterday. Imagine the scenario in Baghdad. You’re an Iraqi, you’ve a happy family. You hear your country is going to be invaded but you think nothing of it and carry on with your life as normal. Why wouldn’t you? You return home to find that a stray US bomb has just blown up your house and your wife and kids as well, all of whom were completely innocent and had nothing to do with politics. It’s only a small step then to start thinking “so these Americans/brits want a religious war? Fine lets give them one. Bomb* the ###### and then go in and brush up the dust” Some of these people then become unforgiving and twisted and foster up hatred of the US or UK or whoever they claim should be responsible. Their families were innocent of all crimes and yet the Americans came along and killed them. The people who died yesterday were innocent of all crimes and yet these arabs or whoever came along and killed them. Anyway there’s my hypothesis on the matter. This issue is a lot more complicated then what I’m hearing from Blair (“they will not destroy our values”). But I agree it’s just emotions running high – I felt anxious and then very angry as a Londoner yesterday! If they had touched my sister in London, I would have wanted revenge like you despite being a forgiving sort of person (I think I forgave Graeme Souness much earlier than a lot of people on this mB) *they don’t have nukes so I’ve had to replace your quote with bombs
8. Just heard from my sis so I'm well relieved. As a Londoner, I felt so proud yesterday. Now I feel worried, anxious and very angry.
9. I don't understand this. Someone who voted for Madrid in Round 2 suddenly had a change of heart and voted for Paris in Round 3?! Am I right in thinking that if this ONE person alone stuck with his original vote of Madrid then Round 3 would see Paris 32 Madrid 32 and so Madrid wouldn't quite be eliminated?
10. Monsieur Chirac, I think you will find that your "fine cuisine" will not taste too fine tonight.
11. Another 2 weeks?! Graeme Souness You can imagine Souness as a child. Non-forgiving, brooding, plotting revenge, sulking, pouting. Never really grew up I guess. And yet now he's in charge of a "big" club. However, this is the same guy who got us promoted and gave us these results in the league: Arsenal (then champions) 1 Rovers 2 Rovers 2 Arsenal (encore les champions) 0 Blackburn 1 Man U 0 Blackburn 1 Man U 0 Chelsea 1 Blackburn 2 Blackburn 5 Banana boys 0 Monkeys 0 Blackburn 2 As well as Blackburn 2 Tottenham 1 As NUFC manager, so far he knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup and in my opinion did fairly well in the UEFA cup. You can't say he is the crappest manager around (even with his tendencies to play players out of position!) but he is probably the best at shooting himself in the foot over and over and NEVER learning.
12. so he doesn't get paid until friday. Oh no! Let's start a collection to ensure he doesn't lose his mortgage.
13. From oil to sausages in no time at all?!
14. I was so cheesed off today - the iriver I bought from amazon for £221 only 2 weeks ago is now advertised on their web-site for £169. (That's £169 for 20gB!) But amazon have agreed to give me the £41 refund.
15. Iriver looks mingin 320052 I bought an iriver last week and Been listening to it all day and battery is still 100%. When your ipod battery dies, enjoy looking at the sleek cool design because you won't be listening to it.
16. If my signature was in my team and she scored, I'd mob her! (probably along with everyone else including our goalkeeper and maybe even the opposing team players)
17. I actually laughed out loud when I saw 2 women in the team we were playing against in our annual Tournoi competition last year (4 firms in Solihull area). I wasn't laughing when one of them tackled me. (and no I wasn't smirking either - I aggravated my knee injury and had to limp off...)
18. Without playing the video.....I don't think he scored against Forest in the 7-1 He did score a complete and absolute screamer against Brazil though. While playing in an England shirt. Thumped the ball from a good 25 yards/metres out and it flew in the top right hand corner. 318306 I think it was 7-0 but yes he did strike a left foot shot which just seemed to float itself all the way to the top left corner. I have that on video (the next clip is Frank Clark laughing as his unbeaten record came crashng down in spectacular fashion!) I rememebr shearer scoring a hat-trick and rhapsody scoring two but I can't remember the last scorer. maybe Newell or an own goal...?
19. Graham?!
20. I'm going to get an iRiver this week sometime. Have they already put this bizarre tax on the ipod?
21. By the time it reaches 4, Ste B comes round your house (using the IP address of the computer you use). So if you use a public computer, you should be ok. With 5, he comes round with a cricket bat (and he ain't selling)
22. The core of our team is still english and I believe it will remain so. Sherwood, Batty, Shearer, Atkins, Le Saux, Sutton, Newell, Ripley, Wilcox are all english. Could you imagine a team with australian, swedish, new zealand defenders, south african, welsh, turkish, norwegian midfielders and scottish strikers?! May as well change our name to Blackburn United Nations if ever we get there!!
23. I'm off to get absolutely twatted (on Nesquik milkshake). Fantastic stuff! We should give a medal to both Ludek Miklosko as well as Andy Cole. £7m and he has rescued us! Who knows - maybe this guy will rescue us and win us anotehr trophy in the future. ARE YOU WATCHING ARE YOU WATCHING ARE YOU WATCHING MANCHESTER?
24. Is it just me or does Modes98's signature freeze the screen as I scroll down the page?!
25. "Hossam Ahmed Mido (Forward) Signed completely by mistake. When he took over the reigns at Spurs,Martin Jol was asked which players he would be looking to sign. Jol cleared his throat and the next day this bloke turned up at White Hart Lane. " I reckon Spurs 1 Blackburn 2 with King scoring first before Emerton equalizes. Rovers supporters are left stunned when Reid's goal turns out to be the winner. I'm probably dreaming and we'll lose 3-0 but hey tis end of season.
