It was the Portsmouth defender Dejan Stepanovic, but they would not pay and could not take him on loan as he needs a work permit...

That would have been a great buy for them and he has been pushed out a bit at pompy

about scott carson aswell, loaning him out is very good, but why not sell him, i mean he is what 21, reina is 23, carson will never be liverpool number 1, they should of sold him..

blackburn should look at arsenal, chelsea, liverpool and man utd for some players to loan..

1...pretty sure you are looking for a specialist right back, but probably for cover just now.

2...Liverpool do not want to lose Carson, that's why they said no to Man City by quoting £12 million, but they believe Villa on loan - for a lot of rental money too - is the best idea. Makes you think the powers-that-be are not entirely sure Rafa 'Max' Benitez will still be there a year from now.

3...that may be the case, but you only get the young ones out of there - and they probably wouldn't play. I can think of one very good right back at one of those clubs who would do the job. And DON'T ask me to name him as it would only alert people.

His surname wouldn't rhyme with Honstone would it?

I'm thinking that it's quite blatantly Justin Hoyte. Arsenal have Eboue and the recently signed Sagna in that position. They also have Traore and Clichy in the left back positions (where Hoyte can occasionally fill in). Hoyte has also been linked with a move away from the Emirates all summer (to Reading mainly). Rumoured price to be £2.5m.

I wouldn't mind him in our team, although he's a bit lightweight. Got plently of potential though.

are you just saying this right back guy could do a job, or we are actually looking at him????

i think either, hoyte or glen johnson..

Ditto...a recommendation, or are we looking for a right back from the top four?

Also, do you happen to know what the Jeffers fee was and how much we paid him off? I'm very curious about these kinds of things. I hate undisclosed fees!

I should point out that the 'possible top four club right back target' was just me thinking of a possibility - and NOT suggesting Rovers were after the same guy.

By the way, the Bolton target is/was Andy O'Brien. Fee agreed with Portsmouth but yet to put pen to paper.

Hmmm.

The more I think about it, the better it has been to stay out of the market this summer - if at all possible.

All these people saying that Gally is still a good prospect - he's 23 now. To put that into perspective he is only two years younger than Cruz!

There comes a point when you just have to face the fact that that player will not make it at the highest level.

also a year older than rooney!
