Ahhhhhhh Nickos a rover!

Not quite, but I do dislike the southern bias that goes on.

It is the same thing that Wigan and Bolton and suffer.

It's also the case with the big-club-small-club syndrome everywhere.

The real worry is when refs read the papers...

My attitude, as a Partick Thistle fan, is that you just take that as a motivation.

No friend of mine.

Odd that the London press are locked in this timewarp.

Rovers were pretty grim two seasons back, but there was a reason for that.

Sadly there are many who have not even seen your team since.

I can see why you reckon the press are against you.

Daft comment for anyone to make especially after the first weekend.

I think there is a genuine chance for a team to break into the top four this season - and it aint those Tottenham posers.

Why do bosses at papers employ people that dont actually follow the game of football, to write about the game of football? :wstu:

nicko, so are blackburn looking for a right back and centre midfielder?? if so, any names you can mention??

also hows that danish kid doing, and charlie bennett??? any more young players going on trial etc

Mate, he can read. You've asked the same thing twice in a matter of hours.

I'm sure when something happens we'll find out pretty quickly.

Nicko, couldnt you write an article about this bias? get it out in the open? ...when Rovers fans mention it, it gets laughed off... mainly because everyone is a glorysupporter, and is laughing it off because they support one of the "big clubs".

This bias towards Rovers is the same sort of bias which see's things such as;

*Michael Owen being a starter for England every game, in their eyes.

*Bentley should never play for England because he pullled out of the U21s

*Wright-Phillips, Lennon & Pennant are all better than Bentley and should be Beckham's succsesor (big club bias!)

*Think because a player once did something good, they can still do it now, because they sit on the bench/play for a "big club" (ala Wright-Phillips, Owen, Jenas, Dyer etc...)

*Berbatov being classed as a WAY better signing than Benni Mc (hello, who scored more goals and was a LOT cheaper?)

The England national team will never get anywhere with these sort of people around with their "big club bias" tinted shades on.

I'd love Rovers to totally dominate the league one season and finish in the top 4 ahead of some of these so-called "big clubs"... then see what the media say!

Here's a typical example of what I'm talking about...

this is on Skysports.com in a topic about who will win the golden boot;

i'm not sure if some of these are serious.. McCarthy? Yeah, he's decent, but he's not going to do it at Blackburn. Doyle? Tuncay? Same goes for them.

I can only see a striker for a top 6-8 team doing it.

Don't worry about it is the best advice.

Take advantage of the ignorance.

Back Benni for top scorer because he is big odds.

Better still get on the Boylesports betting site, back Rovers in the 'without the big four' bet - do it each way, which means they can finish seventh and you win.

And rejoice...

Far be it from me to encourage gambling...

But this is the link.

Rovers are currently 10/1 to finish top 'without the big four' - each way is 1/4 the odds.

Sorry, but for me it is the bet of the season.

If Rovers finish fifth you win 10/1 plus 5/2.

If they finish sixth or seventh you get your 5/2 minus the other half of your stake.

On current squad strength alone it is a great shout.

now we know Nickos main intentions, hes not a plant from the people trying to buy rovers, hes clearly a PR man from a betting website using his cunning powers to make us feel better about our team, and therefore place more bets...

always knew fulham would stump up

Good effort against L'Arsé last weekend, though. Bit unlucky not to get a penalty yourselves. On that evidence, you'll be grand this season.

Those odds on Rovers are amazing, really. Just goes to show how not being "one of the big four" skews perceptions. Although, midfield is _still_ a worry for me, the combinations mean that either Tugay or Mokoena should be playing as a defensive midfielder because Savage, Dunn and Reid like to get forward. I don't really understand that about Savage's game, to be honest, he'd be better off hanging back a bit as he tends to be ineffective in the box. But maybe his style of play (likened to headless chickens) lacks the discipline required to play a zone. A passing defensive midfielder would be ideal, but I suppose they're hot property. I wonder could Reid be coached into that role as his passing was better than Savage's and Mokoena's but he seemed a little more disciplined positionally than Savage. (Incidentally, I'm using the past tense because I haven't seen him play in so long).

From what I saw of the first 20 minutes or so of the game, Savage seemed to be playing in a defensive position.

This sucks that us Brits in the US cant bet on this for some ludicrous reason. I am half tempted to use my last address in the UK.

Sounds tempting, even more so on coral where we are 12/1

Also had a cheeky one on Santa Cruz to be top scorer, 66/1 each way, it could happen

Talking of bias, I was gobsmacked to hear Ian Wright and Adrian Durham on talksport saying how fantastic the English players did, especially our very own Matty. Saying what a great goal it was. I nearly crashed the car.

Knowing my betting luck lately I'd back us, we'd finish 5th and Arsenal would have a stinker of a season and come 6th.

£6 million is excellent value.

I have noticed Everton have left some of their transfer activity fairly late, after complaining earlier in the window about inflated prices - hopefully we are doing the same and we have another couple of purchases to make (central midfielder and a right back).
