reports fulham are being taken over! hows your one going?

Suprised Fulham havnt been taken over (again) by someone with even more money... as its smack bang in the middle of London and could you imagine the potential rivalry with Chelsea if both had billionaire owners?

You should have a famous fan in a few years to come... a rapper from Fulham called Example. expect big things from him.

Britain and Thailand have an extradition agreement between them which is a little bit better than with other countries, the only exception to that is that each individual case is tested on its own merits so it is not definate that he could be extradited immediately.

If, after consultation and agreement, he could be extradited within 48 hrs of the agreement. But there is also the consideration that if he is extradited Man City may have some serious problems themselves because the rules of ownership will have been broken.

Posted this sumamry elsewhere... but here's the gist as I'm hearing from a Citeh fan....

Thaksin's regime got replaced with a junta, imagine this, the current regime don't like the former one..... in politics, no less. I'm shocked.

So its just a smear campaign basically, it sounds like. After all, this isn't about the suspected "human rights" violations he was assuced of, its for a land transfer. Something tells me, if he's rich enough to buy a prem club, he was rich enough to hire a competent-ish lawyer to deal with a land purchase.

As much as I'd love to see cite's team fall apart, becuase I rate them highly this season, I personally doubt anything comes from it. However, details will certainly be shady for a while, unless the UK is forced to do a hearing for the extradition, in which case some details will likely get leaked.

I know an ex-pat teacher who lives in Bangkok, who also happens to be friendly with some low level ex-Thaksin officials, he told me several years back that the then prime minister was the biggest crook in Thailand in terms of covering up murders, general human rights abuses & also being generally fraudulent with government money, he also became deeply unpopular with the people the army & monarchy thus at the moment he is public enemy NO 1, I personally wouldn’t be surprised from what I hear that the UK government is forced to extradite him and his wife

This however will obviously be fought tooth and nail with the premier league throwing their weight behind Thaksin, due to them recently claiming that he was fit for purpose in terms of ownership, they will also back him as Man city are a Big City club the same as West Ham were in the Tevez affair. The more big city clubs the more revenue for the premier league.

I was a bit indifferent about the Man City story at first until I heard this...it's too complicated to run a story on and frankly I don't have the full story on the ins and outs of it. But I'll share what I've heard.

Basically if the Thai government find Shinawatra guilty of stealing public funds in a land deal they can then go after him for the money.

Obviously they have frozen some of his assets already, but if they think he still owes them they could look to go for his other assets. And that is where City come in.

What makes it even more interesting is that I believe that a team of lawyers have already been put on the case to find a British legal firm who would do this for them.

There can be little doubt that the Thais will go after Shinawatra because [a] the government doesn't like him and they fancy a few quid off him.

So this could run and run.

But it does go back to the point that Shinawatra is probably 'safer' having a well-known public company like Manchester City. If he had set up another firm in an ordinary field and there was a bid to shut him down there would probably be less outcry than any attempt to put a Premiership club out of business.

And don't think that he did not consider that when he first tried to buy a football club over here.

So it is quite possible that City could be owned by the Thai government if he looses his assets in court. :D

When I was starting out every newspaper had a Manchester office.

Now none do.

Sadly it's economics and with the newspaper industry in decline it won't get better in a hurry either.

What it needs is someone to buck the trend and come up here, which the Daily Star on Sunday did recently, sell a few copies and hope someone else follows.

It would be ironic if papers moved out of London, but I don't see it happening too soon.

My daughter goes to work at the Daily Telegraph office in Manchester, Trafford Park. They are doing rather well I believe.

If you're in any doubt what kind of character Shinawatra is read this letter to the PL from Human Rights Watch.

Not a nice man and unfit to run City. What is really galling is the lack of any real opposition from City fans to the take-over.

If this guy took over at EP, I wouldn't set foot in the place.

A bit of bad news about Steven Reid.

I hear he has been suffering from a hamstring strain and will be out for a couple of weeks.

Shame for the guy, one injury follows another at the moment.

not trying to get you or anything Nicko..but I'm quite sure I read that on the Rovers website yesterday or something?

another thing, probably the wrong thread. Gamst's agent, Rune Hauge, has just made a headline in the sport sections in Norway with telling them that he will contact Rovers to negotiate a better contract for Gamst since Rovers won't sell him. The newspapers speculated that his new wage would be something close to £50,000 a week..

Gamst said in a comment that he wasn't too bothered about a new contract, but said if Rovers was to offer him a new contract then that would just show him that he was wanted. He hasn't said anything about wanting to go, he has just said he's happy at Rovers atm

Nicko,

Out of curiousity, how do you find the Agents of the footballers - is there a mix of honesty and bulls*it ? as i have come across a few agents in my time, some of which i have played football with myself, before they became agents after there careers finished early.

I have always found them very good guys, with quite a bit of credibility and time for people - which is a very contrary opinion to what they have in the whole, been percieved by the media

I knew the gents who brought Petrov to Villa and a few others and they are great guys, earning a living like everyone else - yet they are tarnished by the media perception and hype !

Typical. An agent floats a spurious rumour that Arsenal want to sign 'his' player and then when the club are forced to quash the rumour the agent insists that the player must be offered a new contract to show how much they want to keep him. Football stinks.

Can't see anything wrong with that to be honest, players like MGP and Bentley will always be under constant scrutiny from a host of clubs whether or not there has been any official move for them.

If we're insisting they aren't for sale, it's only fair to offer them a realistic wage within the current market. Although I doubt if the 50 k pw figure quoted is anywhere near correct.

I wouldn't disagree with that. There are some good ones and some bad, but like any contacts in the game if they hel you then you help them back.

It makes me smile when clubs slag them and then use them the next time they have a good player.

That might explain the story in the first place.

John Williams said recently they would be rewarding some players, so it wouldn't surprise me if he got a rise.

It will be the usual negotiation round that goes on.

As long as the player is udner contract it is no real concern.

Left at home when Barcelona went to play Bayern in a friendly. He is getting the cold shoulder treatment. Big-time.

Whether it makes him budge on his £100,000-a-week demands remains to be seen.

West Ham wanted it done yesterday and it hasn't been.

But it only takes a phone call.
