somebody said on the other messageboard that danish/algerian kid has returned to denmark?? heard anything about that???

if boro bring in mido, would they see that as the replacement for yakubu??

I think Jeziri has gone back. From what I saw of him at Stalybridge he is a good techincal player but may not be ideal for English football.

If Boro buy Mido - and that is still an if - Yakubu will go. Everton have bid, but West Ham could come in if Gudjohnsen snubs them.

I think you may be encouraged by this MGP quote today re the new contract/Arsenal issue.

"If Blackburn want to pay me more, it means they appreciate my contribution to the team.

"I don't go around thinking of money. Money means a lot in this world, but not everything."

A word of caution. Rune Hauge is his agent.

Yes, Rune Hauge is a sly cat. I had a good laugh at the quote further down: "We've heard nothing from Arsenal and, in the week leading up to the game, possibly someone has been a little bit naughty."

Gamst has hinted to VG (Norwegian newspaper, tabloid) that maybe new contract talks will arise. Gamst Pedersen told VG: "If Blackburn want to pay me more, it means they appreciate my contribution to the team.". He signed a four year contract only last year with Tottenham sniffing about, that would mean three year left on that one. Any reports coming in with regard to new contracts for the likes of Samba and MGP and the likes?

If you're in any doubt what kind of character Shinawatra is read this letter to the PL from Human Rights Watch.

Not a nice man and unfit to run City. What is really galling is the lack of any real opposition from City fans to the take-over.

If this guy took over at EP, I wouldn't set foot in the place.

http://hrw.org/english/docs/2007/07/31/thaila16544.htm

That is certainly worrying and should at least be investigated by the FAPL immediately. Preferably with one or two highly experienced Human Rights Experts co-opted on to the investigation to advise.

Talking the moral high ground eh ?

A bit much from the guy who expressed such pleasure at the death of Bernard Manning....

Can't see anything wrong with that to be honest, players like MGP and Bentley will always be under constant scrutiny from a host of clubs whether or not there has been any official move for them.

If we're insisting they aren't for sale, it's only fair to offer them a realistic wage within the current market. Although I doubt if the 50 k pw figure quoted is anywhere near correct.

Right so if I'd sold my house to you rev for £200,000 4 years ago and now it's worth £300,000 would you expect me to come round with my cap out for some more money?

can't see the logic in that arguement at all! I'd agree with Rev on this one. The player has a contract which is based on how good he is. If said player becomes much better and is wanted by a host of clubs 2 years later, it's obvious he would get a payrise.

Don't know about you Theno, but after a year working for my company, i was banging on the door for more pay, as i'd proved myself over and above from when they hired me...Why should it be any difference?

In that situation if you were taken on on a 4 year contract at a set fee after which you were expected to moved on (for nowt in this instance) why would anyone give you any more?

another thing, probably the wrong thread. Gamst's agent, Rune Hauge, has just made a headline in the sport sections in Norway with telling them that he will contact Rovers to negotiate a better contract for Gamst since Rovers won't sell him. The newspapers speculated that his new wage would be something close to £50,000 a week..

Gamst said in a comment that he wasn't too bothered about a new contract, but said if Rovers was to offer him a new contract then that would just show him that he was wanted. He hasn't said anything about wanting to go, he has just said he's happy at Rovers atm

I read the story in the paper edition and it included information that Gamst has a buy-out clause in his contract. I can't remember the exact words of the story but it basically said that Morten has a 'complicated buy-out clause that won't kick into effect until later' (maybe next season, I'll see if I can get the paper with me from work tomorrow). Probably similar to Benni's contract and for me it's a big worry. I hope the 'complicated' part means that the club has to be of a certain caliber for the clause to be valid - ie the top four.

But we could be the top 4 this year, im not reading much into it.

Can someone please explain the Mido to Middlesborough transfer to me?

Two weeks ago, a fee of £6m was agreed between Spuds and Brum. Mido couldn't agree terms with Brum, so returns to Spurs. There were no games for him to play in and he didn't feature in any preaseason games from what I gather.

Fast forward to today, Middlesborough come in with a fee believed to be £6.8m (and possibly rising to £7.5m). What has changed in those two weeks where Mido has done sweet FA? Do Middlesborough really have the worlds worst negotiators working for them? Or do Spuds happen to have the best?

Makes my head spin.

They may be paying the fee in different installments or something. We'll probably never know the exact details, but I'm sure there is a reason behind why the fee is, or at least appears to be, slightly higher overall.

Who on earth wants or expects any of our better players to move on for nothing at the end of their contracts? Surely the object of the exercise is to keep them playing for us as long as possible but at the same time ensure we get as big a fee as possible if any do occasionally decide to move on?

Put another way, if one of your employers rivals was willing to double your pay, but you were quite happy where you were, you'd still make your current bosses aware of the situation and expect them to make some sort of gesture wouldn't you?

:)
