Wiley has to miss a match too for that ridiculous moment when he played on after the ball was over the line. They all make mistakes at times, but that was just baffling.

By the way, I disagree with that one. It probably was a free kick, but why stop the flow of the match to call a kick when the keeper already has control of the ball. Either way, Lehman would have been kicking the ball down the field. You could tell by the way Gamst went in and they both reacted after Gamst said something to him that it was just momentum and not on purpose.

Should have said ten cards...

By the way how does Styles get a ban from the next game and Wiley apparently escapes?

Is it just a reaction to a TV game embarassment or what?

The standard of refereeing this season has been, for want of a word, crap. The 'goal' by Fulham being well over the line, full on penalties not given, sendings off (which seem to only happen for teams playing against the so-called 'Top 4' - conspiracy?! :P ) Do agree with what they said on MOTD2 last night, that the Ref's Association should come out and explain some of the decisions. But of course, that's not going to happen now is it.

Hate to be a stickler, but if the ball is over the line it's a goal. You can't play on from there.

So you have to make it 'dead ball' and start with a free kick.

If the ball had gone over the by-line it is a goal kick, if it goes over the sideline it is a throw.

It was just quite remarkable. One of the oddest things I have ever seen.

The ball went out of play.

Hey, what the hell, let's not bother with throw in's either

Welcome to life as a blackburn fan.

Styles caused heartache to liverpool fans after 1 bad decision.

Wiley was constantly awful, making bad decision after bad decision but it's only little old Blackburn Rovers that suffer.

Even if ours was on TV it wouldn't matter. The highlights package seen by the majority of football fans on motd didn't show the true game and imo was edited to show every arsenal chance and highlight every blackburn error. It's very strange that certain "violent" arsenal moments didn't make it onto our screens but then again i'm sure that would mean the FA had to take some action against Mr Wiley.

Ah well, just wait to find who we get next week? The new refs are normally good to us, they have yet to have had their ears bent and told to look after the big teams ;)

Finally, its good to read a non-biased/arsene wenger influenced article! Shame the MOTD2 editors seem to have fallen for it though, somehow only showing Rovers being booked and not showing the blatant handball by Fabregas, saying that, wouldn't want to make Arsenal look bad now would we

Baffling to you Nicko but not to us Ewooders - do you not remember the Webb & Devine show from last season quietly swept under the carpet.

Its become common as muck at Ewood now that alot of decisions go against us, with more often than not a Rovers player being sent off.

To be fair linesman Devine has been missing ever since to the best of my knowledge.

I've been trying to find out if he is still on the list this season and have not spotted him yet.

If anyone knows different let me know.

The Lehmann incident was bizarre, the Zamora 'goal' was just dreadful. Almost criminal. Said so at the time.

Yeah a few of the angles they showed on TV did give a pretty clear shot of him not really getting contact from any of the other players. No harm in a try though.

Speaking of replays, I saw that replay with the handball and the infraction the ref called, and there was absolutely nothing Derbyshire was doing, and it should have been a PK and sending off for handball. That was maddening.

There was harm in what Savage tried, he clearly moved toward the defender and left his leg stuck out to initiate contact. Now, the way it looked to me is if Sav had but as much thought into staying on his feet he would have been through on goal.

I don't have a lot of time for tabloid papers but Alan Nixon has to be congratulated for that piece. Thanks for telling it how it is Alan. We all know yesterday's match was far from the dirty encounter ten yellows and a dismissal suggest. The two worst offences came from Arsenal with the van Persie challenge and the elbow in the first half. The simple truth is Arsenal are cheats, no hiding from it and for a man of Wenger's intellect to create a team in this mould says a grerat deal about him and his personal values. Thank God we have Mark Hughes.

Well said, Paul.

A certain mb poster on here will be able to comment on that one Nicko.

What I was trying to get at was at was all the hullabaloo with the Styles incident yet although maybe a bias viewpoint think the Webb/Devine fiasco was far more serious yet kept fairly quiet and forgotten about.

The National List of referees and assistant lickspittals for season 2007-8 ( Sky Sports Football yr book pg 582) includes one JP ( JIM) Devine. Like you though I have not seen his little legs running the line on any tv matches this year.

Great articles Nicko!

Some of the Arsenal fans were giving it large when walking back to the car and some of them were going "why didnt fabregas hit samba"?

Shows the level of maturity and intelligence between the northeners and the softy southerners.

I liked the BBE chant of SOFT SOUTHERN BSTARDS yesterday. It was dead loud, and made me proud to be Northern scum.

'You're to fat to referee' was best imo. I was rather disappointed that there was no more on that theme. 'Who ate all the pies', 'you fat bstard' and ' burst in a minute, you're gonna burst in a minute it would have made excellent tele. :)

Im glad someone mentioned chants from the crowd. i get up to maybe 5 or 6 home games and get to 10 or so away games and for the first time since i started to support rovers in the early 90's i was ashamed to be a blackburn fan. The chants of "Lehman is a Naxi", "Zieg Heil" and particually the one about Lehman should be gassed with the jews were disgusting.

I thought that racism was supposed to be stamped out in football.
