Where are they getting their money? I was led to understand that Everton are absolutely potless.

You might want to look in the general direction of Philip Green...

I think I mentioned that about three weeks ago.

I would also point out that both Fernandes and Yakubu are represented by Pini Zahavi.

But I don't do consipracy theories, so I'll leave it at that.

again, Everton are our major threat for cracking the top 5...

You really think so? I'd say Everton are terrible and have been almost since the moment Moyes arrived at Goodison.

Nicko, Do you think Rovers will recieve a big bid for Benni or any other player on transfer deadline day?

Is it true that Hughes wont buy anyone else?

There are still a couple of clubs out there with money to spend and in need of strikers.

West Ham have still not sorted out Gudjohnsen, so they have to be watched.

I think Chelsea have chucked it in terms of buying and Manchester City may have 'done their money' for the time being.

So, the signs are optimistic that there won't be a big bid...but it only takes a phone call.

I think the manager is playing down possible arrivals in public because he is waiting for the right player and right price to come on his radar. You never say never as they say.

Mind you, if the takeover would speed along - which would be a help - then the picture could change slightly.

Wish I had news on that score. But it is strangely quiet.

PS - I suspect Djeziri is a no-goer - and I don't have a clue where Charlie Barnett is either. That Stalybridge Celtic show obviously did not help either. In my book that leaves a midfield vacancy...for a young 'un.

It's just a thought but if MGP is unfit today who would come in? That's maybe a position to consider too - in the long-term.

Anyway, off to the game. Have a feeling it will be difficult, but the type that shapes seasons.

If MGP is out today then Dunny will move over to the left unless Peter comes in but he hasnt seen much action so I suspect Dunn on the left and Tuggs in the middle - this talk is all rubbish anyway because Ped will play

What about Treacy or Peter? They have been saying for a while that Keith may get a few minutes!

It's always better having a natural lefty and if it doesn't work you can change it at half time, but as you say Ped will play anyway.

Peter is definitely out injured and I think I remember reading that Treacy is unavailable as well. Perhaps Olsson would come in?

I suspect, Hughes would prefer to give the Savage/Dunn central midfield more time to gel and that MGP is in fact OK.

Might not be a bad shout at all there.

According to BBC our 21 to pick from are:

Friedel, Brown, Enckelman, Ooijer, Samba, Warnock, Khizanishvili, Emerton, Mokoena, Tugay, Dunn, Bentley, Savage, Pedersen, Santa Cruz, Rigters, Roberts, Derbyshire, McCarthy, Gallagher, Olsson.

So either move Bentley or Dunn to the left or play Olsson. How did Peter & Treacy get injured?

If finishing higher than us 2 of the last 3 seasons and being the last team to break the top 4 is terrible, they have been pants.

Seconded. I would rate Moyes along with Hughes and Allerdyce as the three best managers outside the top four. SGE could make inroads though.

Moyes has been outstanding in the league although Everton have been very poor in the cups.

I have heard that Barcelona have made out of favour midfielder Deco available for a transfer and the fee is only 8m.

I think he would be a good replacement for Tugay

He would be a great obviously, somehow I don't see it happening though

Terrific for 20-25 minutes in the first half today, as well as I have seen this set of players play.

Manager says there is no need for extra signings at the moment and he may have a point...the current squad should make the next window in a good state.

If you brought in excess baggage just now it could even be a handicap.

Dunny definitely on the way back, which means Tugay's absence is not felt. Samba a giant and Ooijer better at centre half.

Just a shame you could not get a second goal - but very optimistic day's work.

I would expect some takeover news in the next few days, but after seeing that maybe they should keep the cash for a January sales bonanza if needed.

Totally agree Nicko, Dunn started to show something special again in the FA Semi last season and he looks a real alternative to Tugay. Not the same sort of player but creative in a different way. He also looks as fit as I have ever seen him!

The squad is very well balanced, importantly in terms of character as well as quality. Rovers base themselves on a good team ethic and that runs from the Chairman down to the most junior members of staff. Given the sense of not upsetting the playing side by bringing in unnecessary additions I hope that any prospective owners keep the backroom and board in the same condition. From the outside Rovers seem solid as a rock at the moment and we need to keep that stability.

Just look around to see how off the field churn and interference can screw up the footballing side.

If the criteria is simply league position then I'd have to agree. To watch live Everyon are one of the least entertaining, most destructive teams in the PL. Though I have to admit they contributed to a very good game yesterday, but then it was a home fixture for them.

Supposedley Tugay is 'set to sign for west ham' according to the Express

any scrap of truth in this?

Not heard that one...but can't imagine he is chuffed to be out of the side.

Still, with the number of midfielders West Ham already have I would have to rate that one 'unlikely.'

Its all a load of bull reading the papers today. In one they are after Tuggs, in another that want that Stephen Apaiah (you know who I mean) Why would they spend money on a player in the last season of his career?

The Ped one to Bryern is another load of Tosh. Even the quotes from Ped in it are the ones he made about two weeks ago.

I am not even going to comment on the Samba one.

Cant wait till this week is over so all this sillyness can stop
