Supposedley Tugay is 'set to sign for west ham' according to the Express

any scrap of truth in this?

Tugay won't leave Blackburn. He loves the club and the fact that the fans worship him. He's a Rover til he retires :rover:

Tugay said this the 14th of March 2005

As I have said before, I want to stay at Blackburn beyond this campaign. I have in fact already committed to Rovers for next season. I have signed an agreement with the club, whereby they can keep me for another year if they want me. This is a one-way option agreement, and it is completely up to them whether I stay at Ewood Park or not. The club is in my heart, but the decision is with them.
26th of November 2004:

Blackburn's situation is a good challenge for me. The club are in my blood now and if they still want me, I have at least one more season here and want to make sure we are in the Premiership.

20th of October 2004:

I am a Rovers player and proud to be so, I want to be at Rovers next season as well, I cannot be clearer than that.

I believe Blackburn are doing all the right things and we hope to get back to winning ways soon, we just need our luck to change. My desire and love for Rovers has never been more. I know Mark, having played with him. I was one of the senior players who endorsed him and said he would be an excellent choice. Mark is a true professional who I am sure will be successful as manager of Rovers.

If Wham offer £5m or something daft like that, they can have Tugay. They have weed a lot of money up the wall on average and/or mental players, so can can waste loads on an old one as well.

Im not an overly sentimental guy but Tugay is the closest player we have, along with Freidal, to being representative of the club. Unless he really wants to go why sell him? The fans love him and he has a lot to offer. I think most fans would like to see him stay as a coach if he has any desire and ability in that area.

Yeah, i think he can still do a job, he should've played yesterday, i think him and Dunn could be a good pairing, maybe he'll play on Thursday

With Dunn now doing the donkey work brilliantly this is actually quite viable.

Dunn and Tugay in the middle promises to be a very creative combination...

Twas in the Mirror about West Ham as well, apparently willing to pay Rovers the remainder of his contract to sign him.

Unless big money is available to replace him, I suggest we reject any approach, I would expect he would play a similar role at West Ham anyways.

dunn and tugay played in central midfield last season together for a few games, and its safe to say they struggled, yes there before creative but you need someone in there putting the tackles in..a couple of times last season(when savage was injuried), and dunn and tugay played together, we missed mokoena..

so i dont think dunn and tugay can play together..

Dunn is a different player now though. He tackles and fights for the ball as well as anybody Id say. That side of his game, and his fitness which is crucial to being a box to box player, has massively improved. Last season i would have said never but now I think it could really work.

If the criteria is simply league position then I'd have to agree. To watch live Everyon are one of the least entertaining, most destructive teams in the PL. Though I have to admit they contributed to a very good game yesterday, but then it was a home fixture for them.

Agree that they aren't pretty to watch, but they are effective (in fact, them, Boro and Bolton are the teams that come to mind when I say I'd rather watch La Liga than non-Rovers, non-top 3 (Pool can be boring, too) Premiership football). That being said, starting towards the end of last season going forward they have looked more entertaining.

For me it would take some serious money for Rovers to sell him - at least £2-3m - which would be daft money considering his age.

As per last season - I expect Tugay to come into his own when we play in Europe. As was shown last season - his game is ideally suited to European football where his age and fitness isn't as important and he is given room to demonstrate the talent that has blessed Ewood Park for a number of years.

I think that story's cobblers. For one I doubt he wants to leave, for two I think the club will slap a massive price on him and for three signing a player his age is a massive gamble for a Premier League club (even one that had a 89 year-old Sheringham up front not so long back).

And as you say it's in Europe where he really shines. WHam can't offer him that this season.

Even so, I'll wait til the window closes before getting his name and number - just in case.

Bizarre transfer story department.

Everton thought they had a deal for Manuel Fernandes, the player was over, the fee agreed, the agent sorted...but he has just gone off to join Valencia instead.

Quite a kick in the head as they wanted him badly and he was at the game yesterday. A few days to find a replacement too.

Another time when there is a lot be said for NOT needing players in the window.

Newcastle are about to sign Abdoulaye Faye from Bolton for £2 million and pay him £40,000-a-week.

If you watch David Moyes body language and hear his answer in the post-match BBC interview yesterday it was obvious something was going horribly wrong on the transfer front.

Quite possibly another fall-out victim of the Wham saga?

Where are they getting their money? I was led to understand that Everton are absolutely potless.

I was thinking that same thing when I first heard about Yak. All summer Everton talked about penny pinching but they have splashed quite a bit of cash, how much now. Baines and Yak alone could be what 17mil?

he was applauded at Ewood when he was watching a game as the England manager, so would be two faced of people to give him a bad reception.

I didn't realise he had been back...if you can recall the date and game that would be interesting.

I'm sure some in authority are still a bit sore about the messing around they had. Still, it was a good idea in the first place. Not many knew him here at the time.

It was an Independent exclusive, as I recall...

Nice match report in the People today Nicko. Makes a change to actually have a report that discusses the performance of both team. Also nice for us to get some credit. I'm sure you're developing a softer spot for us than your letting on. <_<

Credit where it's due, I thought it was a top performance from about 15 to 45 minutes. You don't see Everton being outrun and outplayed on their own patch.

Funny, an Everton pal of mine thought it was too pro-Rovers. You just can't keep all your readers happy.

All I can remember is before the game the PA announcer said something like "please welcome Sven" etc and a shot of him in the stands was displayed on the big screen. Unfortunately I can't remember which game it was but it was fairly recent (last season or the season before), maybe somebody else on here will know more.

I was at that one. Just after England beat Germany 5-1, old Sven obviously timed his return shrewdly.

I suppose you will settle for the same scoreline.

Any time I hear of him having job offers and stalling on decisions I do think back to the time he was coming and then got cold feet.

Funny old game.
